Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#352 - Deliberately looking for trouble!
In the brightly lit living room of Dumbledore's old house, Jerry carefully poured a glass of warm water for Hermione after they returned.
"Thank you!" Hermione said, accepting the cup.
"This is unbelievable!" Hermione said with a frown, her pale face gradually regaining its color. "What on earth is the Ministry of Magic thinking, sending Dementors here? Even if ordinary people without magic can't see them, it's still too dangerous!"
"It's an owl!" Hermione exclaimed, her gaze immediately drawn to the letter. She eagerly urged Jerry, "Quick, open it and see what it says!"
Jerry quickly pulled out the letter, and saw that it was written:
We have received intelligence that you openly used magical spells in a public place with a high concentration of Muggles at approximately 9:30 PM this evening. This behavior constitutes a serious violation of both the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery and the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. In light of this, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is issuing you an expulsion order. At the same time, the Ministry of Magic will immediately dispatch an official to your residence to carry out the procedure of confiscating and destroying your wand.
You are hereby notified, and we hope you will take this as a warning.
Misuse of Magic Office, Ministry of Magic
Jerry: ? ? ?
I'm expelled? Does Dumbledore know about this? Ministry of Magic, you motherf***ers, are you deliberately trying to cause trouble!
Hermione snatched the letter from Jerry's hand and read it repeatedly, each time as if confirming an unwelcome truth. Her heart was invaded by a chill, and her thoughts seemed frozen, a blank space.
"Jerry... expelled from Hogwarts?" she murmured in disbelief, her voice mixed with shock and anger.
"This is absurd! We were facing Dementors! Are we not even allowed to use spells then?" Hermione suddenly jumped up from the sofa, her breathing becoming rapid and heavy. She roared in a low voice, "Besides, we didn't even use spells tonight! Jerry, you didn't even take out your wand! Intelligence? The Ministry of Magic's brains have been licked by trolls, where did they get this false intelligence from?"
In contrast, Jerry seemed unusually calm. He still sat leisurely on the sofa, as if the expulsion letter was just an insignificant piece of paper.
"Jerry, what are you thinking? You're about to be expelled from school!"
"Oh, I was just thinking..." Jerry's lips curled into a faint smile, "Luckily, I haven't even started my summer homework!"
"Now is not the time for jokes!" Hermione pursed her lips, her eyes flashing with worry. "Perhaps... perhaps you should leave before the Ministry of Magic people arrive. They're going to confiscate and destroy your wand!"
"Don't worry, let's wait and see!" Jerry said calmly.
As soon as he finished speaking, another rapid flapping of wings appeared. A second owl rushed in through the window and landed steadily on the coffee table, a small roll of exquisite parchment tied to its leg. The owl gently shook its feathers, and Hermione quickly stepped forward to take the letter, while the owl spread its wings and flew high, re-integrating into the night.
Hermione took a deep breath and slowly unfolded the letter. The words written in black ink were slightly scrawled:
I am on my way to the Ministry of Magic to investigate the events of tonight. Please wait patiently for my reply. In the meantime, do not leave the old house, avoid any form of magic, and do not hand over your wand. Also, I can assure you that you will not be expelled from Hogwarts!
"It's Professor Dumbledore's letter!" Hermione sat down next to Jerry and read the contents of the parchment to him. Hermione wondered why Professor Dumbledore was personally investigating this matter... What was the deeper meaning behind this? Did he really have authority beyond the Ministry of Magic, above them?
Hermione picked up the two letters that had arrived one after another, noticing something was wrong.
"So, Jerry, the Ministry of Magic sent those three Dementors here not for you or me. Everyone knows you can cast a Patronus Charm. You used a Patronus Charm to drive away the Dementors in your first year, saving the students on the train, and you received the Order of Merlin, Third Class, for it."
"They just want to use this to suppress Dumbledore. After all, Professor Dumbledore is your grandfather. If you violate the laws of the Ministry of Magic and are expelled from Hogwarts, or even imprisoned in Azkaban, then Dumbledore's prestige will definitely be greatly reduced, just like Mr. Barty Crouch Sr., he will never be able to compete with Fudge for the position of Minister for Magic!"
Hermione recalled that when she wanted to use the Patronus Charm just now, Jerry stopped her and reminded her to abide by the Ministry of Magic's regulations. Now that she thought about it, those words didn't sound like something Jerry would say. When did you become so law-abiding?
"I didn't expect you to figure out so much so quickly!" Jerry said, a subtle smile appearing on his lips, with a hint of approval in his eyes.
"Am I wrong? The Dementors are prison guards of Azkaban Prison, who else could have sent them here besides someone inside the Ministry of Magic?"
"No, Hermione, you're right. I didn't expect you to have such a keen political sense!"
"Now is not the time to relax. If it's really as I guessed, then you're in danger! They might use all sorts of despicable means to frame you, like tonight, to get Hogwarts to expel you, or even send you to Azkaban Prison!"
"Impossible," Jerry shook his head, "I can't be expelled from Hogwarts! Do you know why Dumbledore dared to guarantee it in the letter? Because besides being the gentle headmaster of Hogwarts, he is also a wizard with terrifying power!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a third owl flew into the room at the right time, bringing a new letter:
The decision to destroy your wand, mentioned in our letter sent twelve minutes ago, has now been revoked. You may continue to keep your wand. After consultation with the Headmaster of Hogwarts, you are required to go to the Ministry of Magic at 9:00 AM on August 12th to be interrogated. The issue of expulsion will also be decided at that time.
"Really... Professor Dumbledore actually changed the Ministry of Magic's decision so quickly!" Hermione said happily to Jerry, the gloom in her heart dissipating for the most part.
Whoosh~ The sound of powerful owl wings flapping came from outside the door again, accompanied by a gentle breeze.
Jerry took the envelope and pulled out the letter. As expected, it was from Dumbledore:
Jerry, you don't need to worry about the Ministry of Magic. Enclosed is a slip of paper with a key address written on it. Remember, do not speak it aloud, just remember it silently in your heart, and burn it after reading. Pack your luggage and take the Knight Bus or other Muggle transportation to get here. Do not use magic. (Of course, if you're willing, you can bring Miss Granger with you, I would be very happy!)
Jerry took out another slip of paper from the envelope, and saw the words 12 Grimmauld Place written on it.
"I'll go with you!" Before Jerry could speak, Hermione grabbed Jerry's hand firmly and said in a firm tone.
"Hermione, this is not the time to act rashly! Or, go back and discuss it with your parents before making a decision?" Jerry looked into Hermione's eyes full of determination, and a complex emotion welled up in his heart.
"Jerry, are you confused? My parents are ordinary people without magic, how can I involve them!"
Jerry heard the words, and gently patted his forehead.
"Don't worry, I'm not a child anymore, I know what I'm doing, I'm not being impulsive!" Hermione once again gripped Jerry's hand, and said in a low and firm voice.
Jerry looked at the girl holding his hand, leaning on him, with firm eyes, and felt a little dazed. After a moment of silence, Jerry handed her the address in his hand.
"Gri..." Hermione was about to speak, but Jerry's index finger had gently pressed against her lips, stopping her from reading the contents of the paper.
"Shh! Don't say it out loud, and don't tell anyone this address, just remember it in your heart!"
"What place is this address?"
"The Order of the Phoenix!"
