Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#354 - Blake House
"Come with us, Jerry!" The twin brothers, George and Fred, exchanged a sly glance before eagerly urging Jerry to follow.
"Jerry, remember later not to—" Ron's words were cut short as George swiftly clamped his hand over his mouth, abruptly stopping him. Jerry looked at the twins, a puzzled expression on his face, wanting to say something but hesitating. You two are going to suffocate Ron!
Entering the dimly lit stairwell, George, Fred, and Ron quietly slipped between a large curtain riddled with tiny wormholes. Jerry assumed it was a window and didn't pay much attention.
Unexpectedly, he accidentally kicked an old vase at his feet, the sharp clatter instantly echoing in the silence, disturbing the portrait sleeping behind the curtain.
Just as Jerry was mentally grumbling about which genius would place a vase in such an unexpected spot, the two velvet drapes, seemingly marked with the passage of time, were suddenly thrown open, revealing not the window scene he expected, but a portrait of a wide-eyed, furious old woman.
The old woman had spittle at the corners of her mouth, her eyes darting wildly, her yellowed skin, taut with rage, almost cracking.
Holy crap!
Jerry was startled by the old woman, especially in the middle of the night!
"Haha~"
"Welcome ceremony!"
Up on the stairs, the twin brothers, witnessing Jerry clutching his ears with a rare look of terror, couldn't help but burst into triumphant laughter.
Jerry frantically tried to pull the curtain back into place, hoping to block out the old woman's piercing screams, but the curtain seemed unusually heavy, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't manage it.
At the same time, the old woman's screams grew sharper, her claw-like hands waving in the air as if ready to snatch at Jerry's face at any moment.
"Shut up, you loathsome old hag!" Sirius's voice thundered like a clap of thunder. He quickly stepped forward, taking two steps at a time, and grabbed the curtain, wanting to pull it shut with all his might.
"You... you!" The old woman shrieked, her voice trembling. "Rebellious son, disgrace to the family, the abomination I bore!"
"I've warned you!" Sirius roared again. This time, he and Jerry worked together, finally managing to close the curtain again.
As the curtain closed, the old woman's piercing screams abruptly ceased, leaving only an echo slowly reverberating in the stairwell.
"Looks like I don't need to introduce you," Sirius said, his tone filled with complex emotions. "You've already met my mother."
"Uh, the old lady is quite polite..."
Jerry caught up with the twins, bypassing a strange rack made from a giant's severed leg. On the wall next to the stairs, a row of shrunken heads decorated the space. On closer inspection, Jerry realized that these gruesome heads all belonged to house-elves, beheaded after their deaths and hung here.
The group quickly passed through the dimly lit stair landing. Fred gently turned the snake-shaped doorknob, opening the bedroom door. Jerry hurriedly entered the dimly lit room and saw two neat single beds placed side by side under the high ceiling.
"George and I live in the room upstairs. This room is Ron's, and there's one bed left. You can stay here or in the single room next door," Fred introduced.
"Forget it, I still prefer a single room!" Jerry shook his head. This bed is better left for Harry!
"Okay, let's end the pranks here!" Jerry said to the twins with a hint of helplessness, his tone revealing a touch of fatigue. "I'm going back to rest first. We can have a good chat about anything tomorrow."
With that, he turned and left, arriving at the door of the next room, turning the same snake-head-shaped bedroom doorknob, and finding that the lock was already broken.
Stepping into the room, a faint musty smell mixed with a damp aura wafted over him. The walls were mottled, seemingly telling the story of the years. On the wall, a gorgeous picture frame was empty, with only a canvas waiting to be painted.
Jerry regretted it a little. Dumbledore's old house was warm, clean, and comfortable. Why did he rush to this haunted old house!
Fortunately, the bed and bedding were all newly changed, otherwise Jerry really didn't know how he would sleep tonight!
......
The time came to the next day, close to noon, when Jerry's room door was knocked.
"Jerry, are you awake?" Hermione's clear voice rang out outside the door. Without waiting for a response, she discovered the faulty room lock and simply pushed the door open, her movements carrying a bit of efficiency.
"Morning, Hermione! Did I oversleep?" Jerry lazily rubbed his eyes, slowly sat up from the bed, and casually grabbed the pocket watch next to him. The hour hand had quietly pointed to ten in the morning.
"Didn't you rest well last night?" Hermione asked, looking at Jerry frowning, looking tired, then handed Jerry the clothes and urged him to get up.
"No..." Jerry shook his head gently, lay back on the bed, looked at the ceiling, thoughtfully, did I dream last night, why can't I remember the content of the dream at all?
"What's wrong, Jerry?"
"It's nothing, I just can't remember last night's dream!"
"Sirius and the others seem to be holding a meeting downstairs." Hermione said softly as she saw Jerry getting out of bed, neatly making Jerry's bed.
"Did Dumbledore come too?" Hearing Hermione's words, Jerry put on a clean shirt and immediately asked.
"No, I only saw Professor Lupin and them."
The two quickly packed everything up and stepped into the corridor on the second floor. The twin brothers Fred and George, as well as Ron and Ginny, were趴伏 on the railing, their eyes fixed on the kitchen door below.
"Hey, Jerry, you missed breakfast!" The twin brothers teased as soon as they saw Jerry.
Jerry and Hermione walked to the railing and looked in the direction of their line of sight, curiously asking: "What are you looking at?"
"George and Fred want to eavesdrop on what Dad and them are talking about in the meeting," Ron whispered, "They think we're too young, so they always don't let us participate in their meetings, let alone let us know what they're discussing!"
With two sharp and abrupt cracking sounds, George's figure seemed to be torn and reorganized by magic in an instant, disappearing and suddenly appearing.
"It doesn't take a few seconds to just go up and down the stairs," Ron muttered, secretly envious that they had reached seventeen and could use magic outside of school.
"Oh, little Ron, you don't understand, time is Galleons." Fred shook his head pretentiously, with a hint of smugness in his tone.
"So, have you two successfully passed the Apparition exam?" Jerry asked.
"Of course, and with excellent results!" George and Fred spoke almost simultaneously, as if they had rehearsed this conversation in their hearts long ago, waiting for Jerry's question.
A slender, flesh-colored rope suddenly appeared in George's hand, which he had quickly retrieved from his room using Apparition.
"This is the Extendable Ear, a masterpiece Fred and I developed together," George introduced, with a hint of boastfulness in his tone. "It's helped us out a lot, like recently, we used it to eavesdrop on some top-secret information from the Order of the Phoenix. They're secretly tracking those Death Eaters whose identities have been exposed!"
"You guys need to be careful," Ron said, his eyes fixed on the Extendable Ear. "If Mum sees that again..."
"Don't worry, Ron, the risk is worth it," Fred said, patting Ron's shoulder.
"Strange, I can't hear anything. The Extendable Ear seems to be malfunctioning!" George frowned.
"Looks like they've placed some kind of anti-disturbance charm on the kitchen door," Jerry said thoughtfully, before explaining, "Fred, try throwing something at the door. If it can't touch the door, that means the charm is working."
"Huh?" The twins were dubious upon hearing Jerry's words, but they tried it anyway. After discovering that the Extendable Ear couldn't pass through the crack in the kitchen door, they still weren't ready to give up. George threw a Dungbomb at the door, only to see it curve strangely in the air instead of hitting the door, flying off elsewhere.
Fred couldn't help but sigh upon seeing this, his face filled with disappointment.
"What a pity..."
As they spoke, the kitchen door was suddenly pushed open, and Snape strode out, his gaze sweeping over Jerry and the others before he left the house with a gloomy face.
"Looks like Professor Snape and Sirius had another argument!" George said, lowering his voice as he watched Snape's departing figure. "The last few times we eavesdropped on their meetings, no matter what they were discussing, they were always at each other's throats. If others weren't there to stop them, I wouldn't doubt that Snape and Sirius would start fighting in the kitchen!"
"Let's go, we can enter the kitchen now!"
They went to the first floor, through a door, and entered the kitchen in the basement.
It was as dim as the entrance hall upstairs, like a deep cave, tightly surrounded by rough stone walls.
Most of the light in the room came from a large fireplace in the distance. The fire leaped in the pipes, releasing wisps of smoke, and heavy iron pots and pans hung from the darkness above.
Because of the meeting, the kitchen was filled with chairs, and in the center was a long wooden table, cluttered with parchment scrolls, crystal goblets, and empty wine bottles.
Mr. Weasley and his eldest son Bill were sitting at the other end of the table, heads together in low conversation, completely unaware of Jerry and the others' arrival. Mrs. Weasley coughed lightly to remind her husband to pay attention, while Jerry's gaze quickly swept over the items on the table.
"Long time no see, Jerry!" Mr. Weasley greeted warmly, while Bill drew his wand and muttered, "Evanesco!" Instantly, the parchment scrolls on the table vanished without a trace.
"Long time no see, Mr. Weasley!" Jerry smiled. He didn't ask about the content of the meeting, or even mention that they had just finished a meeting. After all, besides himself, Hermione, the twins, Ron, and Ginny were all here. Even if he asked, he wouldn't get an answer and would only be met with various excuses.
If he wanted to know anything, he could just ask Dumbledore directly next time he came!
When the others realized that Jerry wasn't planning on pressing for details about the Order of the Phoenix meeting, they secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mum, when is Harry coming over?" Ginny walked to Mrs. Weasley's side and tugged at her sleeve.
"Don't worry, dear, Harry will be fine!"
...
As night fell, in Jerry's room at Grimmauld Place, Hermione was focused on knitting a hat, while Jerry was boredly flipping through Hermione's summer homework. They had been living in this ancient house for several days.
"If only we hadn't listened to Dumbledore and moved here!" Jerry sighed.
Hermione glanced at Jerry resentfully upon hearing this, she was also regretting it a little.
"Are you really planning on giving these hats to the house-elves at Hogwarts?" Jerry stood up, picked up a finished hat, and asked.
"That's right. I plan to put them in various corners of the school castle so that the house-elves can find these hats by chance while cleaning!"
Heh heh! You're exploiting a loophole! Jerry was speechless after hearing this, secretly slandering in his heart. A house-elf receiving clothes means being dismissed by their master.
"Jerry, what do you think of my idea? Will it work?"
Jerry's mouth twitched. The idea is good, just don't think about it next time!
This idea is utterly immoral!
"What did the Ministry say? Has Professor Dumbledore sent any new information?"
"The appearance of Dementors in Godric's Hollow was the result of negligence on the part of the Ministry of Magic officials. Even if we use magic, it counts as self-defense, especially since we didn't use it! And I was the one who took out my wand that night..."
Hermione put down the needlework in her hand. She realized that she couldn't help at all. She couldn't call her dad and ask him to hire a lawyer to help Jerry fight a lawsuit with the Ministry of Magic!
These incompetent officials who only know how to shirk responsibility, they caused the consequences with their dereliction of duty, yet they want me and Jerry, two weak students, to bear the burden. No wonder the British Empire is getting worse day by day after being handed over to these people!
"It's okay, don't worry, how could I be expelled from school!" Jerry saw Hermione's worry, stood up and slowly approached, sat down next to her, gently put his arm around her shoulders, and softly comforted her, "Besides, you're always by my side, that's enough!"
Hermione leaned on Jerry's shoulder, and as the atmosphere gradually warmed up, she slowly closed her eyes, a touch of elegant pink appearing on her cheeks, looking forward to Jerry's next move. She had hinted so obviously, Jerry definitely knew what to do!
"Boom!"
However, Hermione didn't wait for Jerry's intimate gesture, but instead a burst of noise came from downstairs, instantly shattering the romantic atmosphere in the room.
"Moody said they were going to pick up Harry tonight, I guess Harry has arrived!"
Hermione reluctantly sat up straight, biting her lip, her eyes filled with resentment as she stared at the closed door. Harry... Potter... Couldn't you have come later? Why did you have to fly so fast on that broom!"
