Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord

#364 - Malfoy: Call me Prefect!

The train continued speeding north, the weather remaining unpredictable. Raindrops tapped against the windows intermittently, followed by the sun lazily peeking out, only to be quickly obscured by passing clouds.

As night quietly descended, the lights inside the carriage flickered on.

Outside the carriage's glass door, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were lurking suspiciously, their figures elongated by the dim yellow light.

"Boss, I think I saw Jerry Green in the carriage too," Crabbe said with a hint of hesitation. "Maybe... maybe we should..."

"What's there to be afraid of, Crabbe? You're such a scaredy-cat! The boss is a prefect now!" Goyle interrupted impatiently, waving his thick arms, acting all brave.

Before Draco Malfoy became a prefect, Jerry Green would bully us. If Draco still gets bullied after becoming a prefect, then Draco Malfoy's prefect title is worthless!

"Goyle, you idiot!" Malfoy glared at him. "If you want to die, don't drag us down with you!"

"Boss, are we just going to let it go?" Goyle shrank his neck, still somewhat unwilling. If the prefect can't deal with Jerry Green, can't he at least deal with Potter?

"Of course not!" Malfoy's lips curled into a sly smile. Now that he was the Slytherin prefect and Potter had lost to Weasley, how could he let this golden opportunity pass? It was time to strike!

"All of you, listen carefully!" Malfoy's expression instantly turned serious. "Jerry Green doesn't care about our grudges with others, so all of you, be smart and don't provoke him. Otherwise, even your fathers won't be able to save you two blockheads!"

The compartment door was suddenly flung open. On the Hogwarts Express, the annual little drama was about to begin, a clash of impulsiveness and passion between two British boys.

Harry turned his head, already anticipating this scene. But when he saw Draco Malfoy wearing the prefect's badge, surrounded by Crabbe and Goyle, looking smug, a strong sense of discomfort still welled up inside him.

"What?" Harry asked provocatively, not waiting for Draco Malfoy and his cronies to speak first.

Malfoy: "Call me Prefect!"

"Potter, watch your attitude when you speak to me, or I'll let you taste detention," Malfoy drawled, polishing the prefect's badge on his chest.

"Recognize this badge?" Malfoy asked smugly. "Potter, I'm different from you now. I'm a prefect, which means I have the power to punish others."

"Really?" Harry replied coldly. "We are indeed different. I'm a wizard, and you're an idiot."

Ron, Ginny, and Neville burst out laughing. Jerry, leaning against the window, quietly cast a silencing charm on Hermione, who was asleep on his shoulder, ensuring she wouldn't be disturbed. Then, he quietly watched the show.

Malfoy's face turned extremely unpleasant.

"Weasley became the Gryffindor prefect, and you? You're nothing. Tell me, how does it feel to lose to Weasley, Potter?" he taunted.

"Looks like I hit a nerve." Malfoy gave a sinister smile. "Potter, you better behave yourself, because I'll be watching you like a hunting dog, like a hunting dog!"

"Get out!" Ron stood up.

Crabbe and Goyle, seeing this, also moved closer to Malfoy.

"We'll see, Potter!" Malfoy finally glared at Harry fiercely before turning and leaving, Crabbe and Goyle clumsily following behind.

As they approached Hogwarts, the train slowed down, and a flurry of activity and noise erupted as students busied themselves with packing their luggage and pets, preparing to disembark.

"Jerry, can you take care of Crookshanks for now? Prefects need to go to the station to help maintain order!" Hermione instructed.

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of him! Hermione, you be careful too!" Jerry took Crookshanks.

Jerry, holding Crookshanks, joined the flow of people in the aisle. The cold night wind was sharp as a knife.

"First-year students, line up over here! All first-year students, follow me!" A strange female voice rang out, crisp and efficient, replacing Hagrid's familiar voice.

A lantern swayed as it approached Harry. In the dim light, he recognized Professor Grubbly-Plank, who had previously substituted for Hagrid in teaching Care of Magical Creatures.

"Where's Hagrid?" Harry was about to ask, but he noticed that only Ginny was beside him. He could only pull Ginny along, following the crowded throng towards the street outside the station.

About a hundred carriages pulled by Thestrals were parked here. Every year, these Thestrals transported the older students to the castle.

Not far away, Draco Malfoy, with his two cronies and the other Slytherin prefect, Pansy Parkinson, were pushing several timid second-year students aside, seizing their carriage.

Harry found Jerry beside a carriage. He had been waiting there for a while.

Unlike them, whose clothes were soaked by the rain, Jerry's robes showed no trace of water, and his leather shoes were clean, without a speck of wet mud. Crookshanks was even sleeping comfortably in Jerry's arms, undisturbed.

Soon after, Hermione and Ron hurried over. Jerry gently waved his wand, drying the rain-soaked clothes and hair of the four of them.

"Jerry, did you see Hagrid? And Ron, did you see Hagrid at Hogsmeade Station just now?" Harry asked anxiously.

"I didn't see him at the station. I don't know where Hagrid went," Ron said with some concern. "I hope nothing happened to Hagrid!"

"Hagrid is much tougher than you guys think. He's a half-giant, after all."

"Although I don't think much of those stupid giants, I have to admit that their physical recovery ability and magical defense are indeed amazing. So don't worry about Hagrid!" Jerry reassured them.

"Let's get on the carriage first. It's about to leave. Maybe something important is holding Hagrid up!" Hermione added from the side.

The group climbed into the somewhat musty carriage, followed closely by Luna.
