Hogwarts: This Dark Lord is so evil
#152 - Wait, how do we land?
“If you want to experiment, experiment on yourself. Don't drag me into it,” Tom said calmly.
“It won't work. What if something happens to me?” Leifield said with a troubled expression.
“Are you deaf? Do you think I'm not afraid of something happening to me?” Tom's anger was rising rapidly.
Leifield sighed and said, “Tom, I know the Cushioning Charm. Do you?”
“Cushioning Charm? I… I haven't learned it yet…”
“But I have! Look, if you fall, I can catch you. If I fall, you don't know the Cushioning Charm, so you can't catch me!”
Tom scoffed, “What's the problem? Just have Toby catch you down there. Didn't you tell me not to underestimate house-elves' magic?”
“Alright… Forget it if you don't want to.” Seeing that Tom wasn't falling for it, Leifield had no choice but to give up.
He'd tricked this kid too many times; he wasn't buying it anymore.
“Toby! Stop what you're doing and help me with a magical experiment!” Leifield shouted towards the kitchen.
“Yes, Master!” Toby responded and then turned to the cat with a dejected face and said, “Remember, when you're done washing the dishes, you must rinse them with clean water at least three times… Oh, you don't know how to use magic yet, so use a dishcloth…”
Tom Cat was completely distraught. When had he ever seen a pet cat having to wash dishes for its owner?
After briefly instructing Tom Cat, Toby came to Leifield and said respectfully, “Master Leifield, what are your orders?”
“Toby, help me test a spell… I might fly into the sky later, and if I fall…”
“Rest assured, Master Leifield, Toby is capable of catching you,” Toby said confidently.
As an experienced house-elf, he could handle this little matter.
“Very good! I trust you, Toby! Unlike some people, oh well, I even wanted to take this opportunity to give this spell as an experimental reward. Since he doesn't want to learn it, forget it.” As Leifield spoke, he went straight out the door.
Tom curled his lip dismissively. If there was something good, would you let me have it so easily?
However, when Leifield went out, he still chose to follow.
It wasn't that he wanted to learn or had changed his mind; he simply wanted to see this bastard fall!
That feeling would definitely be satisfying! Very refreshing!
Coming to the yard outside, Leifield looked at the plant greenhouse he had built and then looked at the open space next to it.
“The place is too small. Are there any larger, more secluded places nearby?” Leifield asked.
“Yes, there's a forest to the east of the town. There's a small lake in the middle of the forest, and usually, there's no one there. If it's a flying spell, it might be safer in a place with water,” Toby said in a high-pitched voice.
During the time Leifield and Tom were at school, Toby had been staying in Godric's Hollow when he wasn't being summoned.
According to Leifield's instructions, he would also come out for a walk when he had time, to relax and avoid becoming psychologically twisted, as Leifield said.
Because Leifield didn't want to raise a house-elf as strange as Kreacher…
Therefore, Toby was already very familiar with Godric's Hollow.
“Very good! Let's go! Tom, guard the house!” Leifield said.
Tom frowned and said, “I'm not guarding the house! I'm not your servant. You can't control where I go!”
“You're so weird. I didn't say you.” Leifield pointed to Tom Cat, who was sneaking a peek outside the kitchen door, “I'm letting him guard the house… Can you not assume I'm talking about you?”
“You bastard… Can you change your cat's name?” Tom said through gritted teeth.
However, all that responded to him was the back of Leifield's head.
Tom took another deep breath in anger, “I'll just watch and see if this menace can be killed by a fall!”
…
The location of that small lake was very good, with trees all around, secluded and quiet.
“Master Leifield, if you practice flying here, even if Toby doesn't catch you, there will be trees or lake water to cushion the fall,” Toby said sincerely.
“Didn't you say just now that you could catch me one hundred percent?”
“This is also for your safety, Master Leifield…” Toby said cautiously.
“Alright.” He glanced at Tom, who was sitting on a rock not far away, secretly watching them.
Toby immediately said, “Master Leifield, don't worry, I will watch Master Tom and not let him do anything bad!”
Toby's voice was very loud, and Tom's face turned black at that moment. In all conscience, he really hadn't thought about doing anything bad!
It wasn't that he didn't have the intention… The key was that he couldn't beat Leifield!
This was a ruthless character who dared to bite Grindelwald's melon. If he really did something, he had to think about the consequences…
When Leifield retaliated slightly, he was sorted into Azkaban by the Sorting Hat.
If he retaliated seriously… Then he might really be sorted into Azkaban…
Leifield didn't really care about these things.
In fact, he didn't need Toby and Tom to help him at all.
In fact, he was telling Toby and Tom this just to use their eyes to witness him creating a new spell that had never been seen before.
How could a wizard who skillfully mastered Apparition be afraid of being killed by a fall?
Leifield pulled out his wand, hesitated for a moment, and then took out a broken wand.
He had used this wand to bite Grindelwald's melon before.
The first time using this spell, Leifield still whispered a long incantation.
Immediately afterward, Tom and Toby discovered that black gas was constantly emanating from Leifield's feet…
Before long, the entirety of Leif’s lower body was enveloped in a black mist.
Then, Leif’s figure began to sway and float upwards.
After rising to the height of the treetop, he began to drift left, right, forward, and backward.
The black mist also surged around him as Leif floated…
Watching this scene, Tom couldn't help but gape.
He thought Leif only had a preliminary idea and was just experimenting.
But now it seemed… this guy had clearly already succeeded!
As Tom thought this, Leif’s flying speed became faster and faster.
In the end, he transformed into a ball of black mist, darting back and forth across the treetops…
Suddenly, several spells flew out from the black mist, accurately hitting the stones next to Tom.
This startled Tom and left him deeply shocked.
“Flying so fast… and able to cast spells while flying…”
He had to admit, Tom was genuinely tempted!
A flying spell that could maintain high speed and also allow spellcasting was incredibly advantageous!
Thinking about how he had foolishly rejected Leif’s proposal earlier, he couldn't help but feel a pang of regret.
If he could learn this flying spell, even if he got tricked and suffered a little loss, it would be worth it!
“Whoosh!”
The black mist rapidly descended to the ground, and Leif emerged from it, looking refreshed.
“The feeling of being able to fly without a broom is really great!” Leif exclaimed.
Initially, my upperclassman suggested that he buy a broom and then explore the Forbidden Forest.
That way, he wouldn't have to stumble along the way.
Now that he had mastered the flying spell, why would he need to buy a broom?
“Young Master Leif! Congratulations! You have successfully researched a new spell!” Toby squealed excitedly, “Toby is so happy to have a master like you!”
“Haha, you're too kind, Toby. Do you want to learn it? I can teach you. Although a house-elf's magic is a bit different from a wizard's, it doesn't hurt to try.” Leif said with a smile.
“Ah? Really? Can Toby learn it too?”
“Of course!”
“That's great! Toby is willing to try!”
Tom, who was standing on the side, couldn't help but interrupt when he saw that Leif was even willing to teach a house-elf.
“Ahem, Leif… can I learn it?” Tom asked shamelessly.
In this world, only those with thick skin can eat their fill…
Tom had learned the principle of being flexible under pressure from Leif long ago.
“Didn't you say you weren't interested just now?”
“No, I never said I wasn't interested, Leif. What I kept emphasizing was that I have limited ability and cannot help you experiment with magic.” Tom said without blushing or panting.
“Hiss…” Leif looked at Tom in surprise, “Tom, your skin has become much thicker now!”
“You're too kind, you've taught me well, Professor Leif.” Tom said with a forced smile.
“Tsk tsk, since you've said so, I can't very well refuse to teach you. Come on, let me impart this magic to you!” Leif said proudly.
A hint of surprise flashed in Tom's eyes. He didn't expect Leif to actually agree to teach him.
He thought Leif would continue to make things difficult for him for a while.
Leif beckoned, “Come closer.”
When Tom approached, Leif whispered, “First, you do this… then this… then this… and you'll fly up!”
Tom: “?”
“You're so stupid! I'll just tell you the incantation!”
“Actually, it would have been fine if you had just told me the incantation earlier… Professor Leif.”
A moment later, Tom had memorized the incantation.
When he came back to his senses, he realized that a rope had been tied around his waist at some point.
Tom asked in surprise, “What is this for?”
“It's easy to overshoot on your first cast and fly away with a 'whoosh'… I have no choice but to tie you up a bit. I'm not like you, watching me experiment with magic and not helping at all.” As Leif spoke, he tied a very complicated knot on the rope.
“Is that so?” Tom subconsciously felt that something was wrong, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
“Of course!”
“Alright… hiss, right, the spell you told me just now was for takeoff, right? What about the spells for landing and moving?” Tom asked.
“What was the takeoff spell I told you just now? Recite it to me, and I'll see if there are any mistakes.”
Tom had no choice but to recite it, and as he finished the last syllable, he flew up with a 'whoosh'!
Leif shouted, “Takeoff!”
“Wait! Wait a minute! How do I land! Why am I keep flying up!” Tom panicked for real this time.
“Don't worry, the rope is tied!” Leif firmly grabbed the rope.
Tom felt relieved, “That's good… now, please tell me, how do I land… wait, what are you doing?”
Before Tom could finish speaking, he saw Leif grab the rope and start jogging along the lakeside.
“Are… are you flying a kite?!”
Tom's heart was filled with despair. Leif's traps were everywhere!
In the end… he still couldn't escape…
