Hogwarts: This wizard wants to make progress too much
#31 - Section 31
Everywhere was a vast expanse of white spider silk. Countless spiders crawled on the ground, trees, and webs. Spiders the size of human heads were considered mere hatchlings here, while those the size of cars were commonplace.
Occasionally, eight-eyed giant spiders would dangle down in front of Ethan, showing off their presence, or trying to brush against him, but Ethan dodged them all.
Hagrid's expulsion was truly justified.
When watching the movies, these spiders seemed manageable, but seeing them now, they definitely deserved their XXXXX rating. They breed like crazy! If these spiders attacked Hogwarts, without professors to hold them back, they could easily wipe out all seven grades of students.
"Hagrid, are you sure the Forbidden Forest can sustain these spiders?"
Ethan felt that if no one suppressed them, the eight-eyed giant spider clan might dominate the Forbidden Forest and wipe out other species.
Invasive species are a no-go!
"What's wrong with that?"
Hagrid looked at Ethan, puzzled. He had been raising them for decades; why couldn't he keep raising them?
"Have you considered how much these big spiders eat every day? If they keep breeding, the entire Forbidden Forest might not be enough to feed them."
"The Forbidden Forest is so big, I think it should be fine."
Alright!
After receiving this answer, Ethan knew that Hagrid simply loved magical creatures but had no understanding of biology.
"Aragog, I've come to see you!"
Standing at the entrance of the tree root cave, Hagrid shouted loudly inside.
A rustling sound came from the bottom of the cave formed by huge tree roots. Eventually, what appeared before Ethan was a spider the size of a small truck.
However, this spider was already very old. Its eyes were somewhat gray and lacked luster.
When it saw Hagrid, it seemed quite excited, waving its two front legs vigorously:
"Hagrid, you haven't visited in a long time!"
Ethan had only ever seen this one magical creature that could talk.
It just seemed that he didn't have much appeal to Aragog. Its basically blind eyes only saw Hagrid.
He didn't know if it was an eye problem, or if high intelligence made this ability less obvious, or some other possibility.
"... Sorry, I have something I want to ask you to help with. There are some damned poachers in the Forbidden Forest, and I hope you can help me find them."
Hagrid looked at Aragog apologetically. Because Ethan had been patrolling with him during this time, he simply hadn't had time to come at night.
"I will have my offspring keep an eye out."
Aragog, who regarded Hagrid as a good friend (father?), naturally wouldn't refuse.
"Thank you, Aragog!"
"Just visit me more often. I can feel that I don't have many days left. Being with you is the happiest time for me."
Hagrid was stunned in place after hearing this. Then he stepped forward and hugged Aragog's long legs, his eyes full of sadness.
He could also see that Aragog had aged a lot in recent years, but he didn't expect this day to come so quickly.
Ethan didn't disturb this tender moment between man and spider. Instead, he found an eight-eyed giant spider the size of a car.
Patting its smooth head, Ethan took out a clear glass jar and said to it, "Hey buddy, can you give me some venom?"
The eight-eyed giant spider was stunned for a moment, then nodded. This human was quite friendly and felt good. Anyway, it couldn't use up all the venom, so giving some was no big deal!
Then it extended its mouthparts and injected venom into the bottle.
Seeing this, Ethan happily touched the eight-eyed giant spider's head. At first, he felt that these spiders were ugly, but now they seemed quite cute.
A pint of eight-eyed giant spider venom was 100 Galleons. This was something even Potions Master Horace Slughorn coveted, and it could be said to be priceless.
And now, the eight-eyed giant spider's venom was obtained at zero cost, and it could be obtained continuously.
Relying on his animal affinity ability, Ethan kept coaxing one eight-eyed giant spider after another, until he filled two jars, about seven or eight pints. (One pint is 568.26125 milliliters)
Don't underestimate the spider's venom. With the eight-eyed giant spider's large size, the venom it spat out at once was enough to wash your face.
Now that each spider spat out a portion, this amount was not harmful to them at all.
"Ethan, we should leave!"
It had taken a lot of time to find clues in the territories of various rare magical creatures at first, and now they had chatted with Aragog for so long that it was almost dawn.
Hagrid himself didn't care. He could continue to stay with Aragog, but Ethan couldn't. He was still a young wizard and had classes today.
"Ah! Got it!"
Ethan, who was collecting spider silk, turned his head and responded.
Not only the venom, but Ethan felt that the spider silk was very tough. It was just a little afraid of fire, but even so, it was definitely an excellent alchemy material.
On the way back, Hagrid's mood was quite low. Even if Ethan tried to comfort him, Hagrid just nodded perfunctorily and didn't say anything.
Ethan knew that he couldn't be persuaded and could only figure it out himself.
He just didn't know if his energy cubes could affect the lifespan of the eight-eyed giant spider.
As for Aragog, Ethan couldn't comment, after all, it was just a magical creature.
But for Hagrid, it was definitely a very reliable partner. Because of Hagrid's orders, it had never eaten human flesh in its life. The information stated that the eight-eyed giant spider liked to eat human flesh.
It had also restrained its descendants for a lifetime. It was only when it was old that it couldn't control its descendants, and after it died, the eight-eyed giant spiders completely let themselves go and joined the Death Eaters' side.
Chapter 55: Quirrell's Flirtation
"Adrien... Mr. Adrien, please... please stay behind for a moment. The teacher has... has something to say to you!"
As Ethan, who was about to leave the classroom after the end of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, heard the voice from behind him, he looked at Quirrell in confusion.
What was he up to? He shouldn't have any interaction with Quirrell.
"Class... students, you leave first. The teacher has something to say to... Mr. Adrien alone."
Seeing the other students who stopped beside Ethan, Quirrell had no choice but to speak again.
"I'll catch up soon, you guys go to the classroom and wait for me."
Ethan wasn't afraid that Quirrell would cause any trouble. As long as Dumbledore was still at Hogwarts, he wouldn't dare to act recklessly.
Besides, this was just a Voldemort with low health. It was uncertain how much of his strength he could display. If a fight really broke out, Ethan wouldn't be intimidated.
"Professor Quirrell, why did you ask me to stay behind alone?"
With only the two of them left in the classroom, Ethan activated his Occlumency and stared directly at Quirrell.
Although he looked down on Quirrell, Voldemort was also weakened, but he still had to be serious. There were many cases of capsizing in the gutter.
"Adrien…n… don't be nervous!"
Quirrell looked at Ethan's serious expression and said with a stutter.
"I'm not nervous, Professor Quirrell. If you have something to say, I'm in a hurry to go to class."
"I also graduated from Ravenclaw… You did what I… I didn't dare to do back then. The teacher wants to reward you!"
Seeing that Ethan didn't give him any face and didn't like him, Quirrell had no choice but to go straight to the point.
Once upon a time, he was also an outstanding Ravenclaw student and a professor loved by students, but now, the little wizards all disliked him. Ethan in front of him was even one of the best.
After so many classes, Quirrell also knew who was the first to cast the Bubblehead Charm and spread it to the whole class.
Now this charm has spread throughout all seven grades, causing everyone to look like a bunch of 'Celestial Dragons' during his classes.
The culprit of everything was this guy in front of him.
This also made Quirrell not have a good impression of Ethan, but he couldn't resist the request of the boss behind him, and had to pretend to be a teacher who thought highly of him.
Ever since Voldemort learned that Ethan was able to defeat five upperclassmen at once in his first year, Voldemort determined that Ethan was definitely a good candidate for a Death Eater.
Then he began to prepare for the scene now.
As for Ethan being a Muggle-born wizard, Voldemort didn't value this at all. He purely valued strength above all else.
The reason why he promoted the name of pure-bloods was because he needed the power of pure-bloods in the early stage, and in the later stage, he needed to take those pure-bloods as dogs. He himself was a half-blood.
"No need, thank you, Professor!"
Ethan had seen this kind of reward plot many times in his previous life.
But you, Quirrell, are not a blonde, big-breasted, slender-waisted, long-legged teacher, what kind of reward are you talking about?
If he really had this idea, he might as well go back and let his senior reward him.
"Idiot, hurry up and give him the things!"
Voldemort behind Quirrell couldn't bear it anymore. Didn't he understand what Quirrell's image was in the eyes of the little wizards now?
He was still pretending here. If he ruined his plan, he would make him wish he were dead.
"Understood, Master!"
Facing Voldemort's words, Quirrell didn't dare not listen.
"This is a trophy that the teacher obtained when he traveled… traveled in the past. It records a lot of… of magical knowledge, and this pass to the restricted section. Now, I'll… give them all to you. I hope they will be useful to you."
As he said that, Quirrell handed a piece of paper and a notebook to Ethan.
Both of these were specially prepared by Voldemort for Quirrell, specifically to lure Ethan to take the bait.
If you want to fish, how can you not prepare the bait!
Voldemort naturally knew what the Ravenclaw eagles liked after mixing for so long.
They pursue knowledge, especially forbidden knowledge.
So he gave black magic and a pass to the restricted section. Such bait would definitely satisfy Ethan.
As long as he learned the black magic in the notebook and went to the restricted section to see those forbidden knowledge, it would be difficult for Ethan not to fall. These all contained negative emotions.
When the time came, he would guide him a little, and he could easily harvest a little Death Eater.
This was how Quirrell was guided by him. Although the person was a bit lacking, he was still a usable container.
"Thank you, Professor Quirrell. I do need a pass to the restricted section."
After Ethan thanked him, he took the things and left.
Although Quirrell was not a good person, he was still the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor after all. The restricted section pass he signed was still useful.
Ethan hadn't been to the restricted section for so long since he enrolled. After all, many books had been collected by Dumbledore. Even if he went, he wouldn't necessarily gain anything. Ethan still had many books in the Ravenclaw library that he was interested in that he hadn't fully understood. Why bother going to the restricted section late at night?
Now that he had a pass, it would be okay to go to the restricted section when he had time.
Walking on the road, Ethan casually flipped through the notebook in his hand.
He found that it was full of black magic, but it seemed that there were no Unforgivable Curses, as well as advanced black magic such as Fiendfyre and Fire Shield.
Moreover, the handwriting on this notebook was very new, as if it had just been written. Especially the last few pages, it could be said that they were rushed out last night.
And he said that it was a trophy from the past, go deceive the ghosts!
…
Charms classroom.
"Ethan, what did Professor Quirrell say to you alone?"
Terry was the most gossip-loving person in the dormitory. He immediately asked when he saw Ethan.
"He gave me a notebook and a pass to enter the restricted section. Why, are you interested?"
There was nothing to hide about this, because Quirrell himself didn't hide it.
Dumbledore didn't even need to pay attention. Snape, who was staring at Quirrell, would tell him.
"What notebook?"
Michael also turned his head. A professor's notebook was still somewhat valuable, even if the professor was Quirrell.
Some little wizards thought that he had the ability, but he just didn't want to teach.
"It's all about black magic, do you want to see it?"
"Forget it, this was given to you by Professor Quirrell, I won't read it. You also need to pay attention."
After a long silence, Michael still refused.
