Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#188 - Minister of Magic: I want to join the team too.

Who exactly calls the shots in the wizarding world?

It's actually quite similar to Muggle society.

Wizards, like Muggles, operate with two sets of systems simultaneously.

In the Muggle world, many believe the government is all-powerful and supreme.

But in reality, using a bit of metaphysical perspective, most governments are essentially a 'sect alliance'.

They are the uncrowned kings of the wizarding world!

Fudge, of course, has opinions about this phenomenon, but he is powerless to change anything.

He currently faces not Dumbledore, who has little attachment to this world, only seeking stability and unwilling to rock the boat.

When directly confronting those powerful wizards willing to freely wield their force, he can only wear a forced smile like he is now.

After all, he doesn't want to be sleeping soundly at home, only to be grabbed from afar in his pajamas and slammed onto the ground.

"—" Watching Roger about to leave, Fudge hesitated, unsure whether to speak.

But after a moment's thought, Fudge spoke, "Roger, please hold on."

"Hmm?" Roger, who was about to Apparate to a village near Hogwarts and then enter the castle, turned back in confusion.

"Regarding the virtual reality matter, I'd like to discuss something with you," Fudge said.

"You mentioned at the press conference that you would allow the virtual reality technology to be shared externally."

Roger nodded, "Yes."

"I believe the report I submitted to you contained relevant information, which you approved," Roger added.

This was indeed true.

But the problem was, would Fudge dare not approve Roger's proposals unless they were too outrageous?

"Yes, I've read the report, but I anticipate that the German Ministry of Magic will soon contact us seeking cooperation. What should we do then?" Fudge was a very tactful speaker.

He wouldn't start with highly sensitive issues; he intended to smoothly guide the matter to his desired path.

"What should we do?" Roger was somewhat puzzled by Fudge's question.

He looked at Fudge and continued, "The general direction has been decided: technological cooperation and sharing. As for the specifics of cooperation and how to ensure our own interests, I believe the Ministry of Magic is much more experienced than I am."

Fudge nodded noncommittally, "What if, in the future, there are conflicts with other countries due to virtual reality-related reasons…"

"I said it at the press conference; just follow that."

"So, even though you are fully responsible for virtual reality-related matters, some things can be decided by me?"

Roger raised an eyebrow, sensing something. Fudge wanted to clarify the division of responsibilities with him?

Virtual reality-related matters fell within his jurisdiction, but his methods and the power he wielded made Fudge, his nominal superior, unsure how to act in certain situations.

At this moment, he probably wanted to sort out some ambiguous issues.

"Yes, as long as it doesn't directly concern the proliferation, maintenance, or technology of virtual reality, anything directly related to the prosperity of virtual reality, other departments of the Ministry of Magic can decide on their own," Roger replied.

Although Roger saw through some things, he didn't choose to expose them.

Some things are best left unspoken with a mutual understanding. Saying them outright can be detrimental.

People are emotional beings, and being too blunt can sometimes hurt others' feelings.

It's like when Lü Bu saved Liu Bei in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms; it was originally a great favor, but Lü Bu's boasting made it seem like they had become enemies.

"I see, I understand," Fudge said. He was a seasoned politician, highly sensitive to changes in people's emotions.

Even though he unexpectedly obtained the position of Minister due to a major scandal involving his competitor, his ability was proven by being in the running in the first place and going from a minister who relied on Dumbledore to wielding great power.

From the subtle changes in Roger's eyes, he knew that Roger understood the underlying meaning of his words.

And Roger's response made him realize that he could discuss some deeper content.

"Roger, can you give me a little insight into the virtual reality technology?" Fudge asked earnestly.

But he immediately added, "Of course, I understand you may have some concerns. Just tell me what you can."

"I'm somewhat aware of your relationship with Dumbledore. This matter of spreading virtual reality technology to the entire world, which could have a huge impact on the entire wizarding society and even Muggle society, suddenly started without any warning."

"This matter must have received unanimous approval from both of you, but it's completely different from Dumbledore's previous approach to similar matters."

"What happened here?"

"Or rather, what does virtual reality technology ultimately mean? What special significance does it have that I don't know about?"

Fudge's magical talent was quite limited, and he didn't understand many things about magic.

But as a politician, he understood people's hearts!

He knew that Dumbledore was originally a very conservative person.

Getting Dumbledore to agree to something that would cause such drastic changes to the world was definitely not an easy task.

It came down to two possibilities.

Either something had happened to Dumbledore, causing his stance to shift.

Or this so-called virtual reality technology was definitely not as simple as it seemed!

The spread of virtual reality to the whole world probably had a different purpose!

Dumbledore was the greatest wizard of this century in Britain. Fudge firmly believed that, with Dumbledore's strength, there probably wouldn't be any problems on his end.

Then there was only one answer left.

As Minister of Magic, Fudge wouldn't be able to sleep soundly if he didn't figure this out!
