Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#38 - The Savior's Destiny

Today's Quidditch match went exactly as Roger had predicted.

Not long after the start of the match, Harry caught the Golden Snitch, ending the game.

You could say that the audience hadn't even warmed their seats before it was time to leave. Compared to the usual matches that could last for hours, it was simply outrageous!

Watching Harry, surrounded by the gleeful Gryffindor team, the bewildered Slytherin team, and the Gryffindor students who took nearly ten seconds to remember to celebrate, Roger knew he had made the right choice in coming.

Roger had ultimately come to the Quidditch match, but not because he was worried about Harry's disappointment.

Roger wasn't that sentimental.

He had suddenly remembered that he hadn't quite finished explaining a certain 'after-sales service' regarding the nervous system modification he had performed on Harry.

As the saying goes, 'teaching people doesn't always work, but experience teaches a lasting lesson.' A little over a month ago, the timing wasn't right to discuss this.

But now... perhaps the time is right.

.

.

.

The Quidditch match had ended some time ago, and the enthusiastic crowd surrounding the 'hero' Harry had slowly dispersed.

This match was significant for Gryffindor. They had not only won, but also broken the record for the fastest match in Hogwarts Quidditch history.

Such a moment of school history was naturally worth celebrating.

When the excitement faded and the crowds dispersed, Roger quietly approached Harry.

But he noticed that Harry's expression was a bit off, not like that of a triumphant young man at the height of his glory.

Instead, he seemed somewhat lonely.

"...Roger, what brings you here?" Seeing Roger's arrival, Harry rubbed his face, composed himself, and asked with a smile.

Having been classmates with Roger for over two months, Harry wouldn't claim to know him well, but he had a general idea of Roger's style.

Roger rarely did unnecessary things.

If you asked him for help, he would help you. If you asked him questions, he would answer you. If he encountered something he didn't like, he would intervene. But he would never go out of his way to chat or play games with anyone.

He practically wished he could spend all his time with those books.

If Roger took the initiative to approach you, there was no doubt he needed something from you, and it was likely not a trivial matter.

"It's nothing. I originally wanted to offer you some advice, but..." Roger noticed Harry's earlier unusual behavior.

What change has fate brought about this time?

"What advice?" Harry asked eagerly, as if trying to hide something.

Seeing that Harry wanted to talk about this first, Roger had no objections.

Roger simply crooked his finger and pulled a small stone from the corner of the ground.

"Harry, you should know that I can perform wandless and silent Levitation Charms."

Harry nodded.

Roger was very skilled at Levitation Charms and Transfiguration, which was well-known among those who paid attention to him.

"Then would you be interested in competing with me to see whose Levitation Charm is more refined?" Roger asked.

Harry immediately waved his hand: "Wouldn't I be guaranteed to lose in such a competition?"

"Then do you think anyone would be interested in watching if we were to actually compete?"

"...Maybe." Although he was sure to lose, people might want to see something new, given his reputation as a Seer and the Boy Who Lived.

"What if we competed every day? After a few months, how many people would still be interested in watching? Wouldn't you feel that each of these predictable competitions is a kind of torment for you?"

Harry was silent. He was a clever child, and Roger's words had made him understand what Roger was trying to say.

"Harry, your skill is vastly different from the other players. Quidditch is a sport where a Seeker has the ability to quickly end the game," Roger said bluntly.

"If you continue to play like you did today..."

That was enough.

"However, your life path is ultimately yours to walk. I'm just explaining the situation to you in case you haven't realized it. If you like it this way, that's your freedom," Roger said casually.

In truth, Quidditch was just a wizarding sport. Roger didn't care so much about how it developed within Hogwarts, or whether Harry's presence would cause Hogwarts students to lose interest in Quidditch.

What Roger was truly worried about was whether the public pressure generated during the process of Harry going from a Quidditch star to someone avoided by Quidditch enthusiasts would hurt Harry... After all, he had performed Harry's nervous system modification himself.

Roger didn't want to see his actions leave Harry with a significant life trauma.

So he came to provide this 'after-sales service.' If Harry insisted on continuing as he was, then whatever might happen in the future, good or bad, would be the path Harry had chosen, and Roger wouldn't interfere.

...Roger would help others, but not with everything. If someone was the type to bring trouble upon themselves, Roger had no interest in cleaning up their mess.

"Alright, now that I've given my advice, let's talk about something else." Although he said 'talk,' Roger didn't ask anything, but simply stared into Harry's eyes.

He was just a little curious where fate had taken a new turn.

If Harry clearly refused, Roger wouldn't forcibly interfere in someone else's private affairs.

Feeling Roger's gaze, Harry pursed his lips and hesitated for a few seconds.

Finally, he spoke: "...I miss my family a little."

The family Harry was referring to was naturally not his aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. He missed his parents.

Although Dumbledore had removed the Mirror of Erised, and he had resolved to abandon the illusion of the mirror and choose reality.

But the illusion of 'being loved' that the mirror brought had stirred up his longing for his parents. Whenever his friends left and the silence of solitude descended, he would feel a little melancholy.

"So that's it." Roger had thought some other change in fate had occurred.

Getting his answer, Roger looked at Harry's lonely expression, thought for a moment, and then said: "Harry."

"Death is not the end of everything."

Harry Potter stared at Roger, not understanding what he meant.

"The power of magic can be so strong that it can even reverse time and space!" Roger thought of how Harry and his friends had 'tricked time' to save Buckbeak, the hippogriff, in *Prisoner of Azkaban*.

"Those who have died may not truly be dead. If you become powerful enough, perhaps you will have the ability to change everything."

"Of course, this is an extremely dangerous and forbidden thing. If you really want to do it, you must be prepared to risk everything, not only your life, but even all traces of your past existence may be completely erased."

"If you have this determination, I can briefly tell you about the mysteries of this path..."

"If not, just pretend I didn't say anything."

Under Roger's gaze, Harry's eyes widened: "I..."

Lacking the love of his parents, and living under the roof of his aunt and uncle's dislike since he was a child.

The greatest desire reflected in the Mirror of Erised was to be with his family.

His answer, of course, could only be one!
