Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity
#4 - Magic Professor
As the greatest wizard of the century in Britain, Dumbledore held many positions in addition to being the Headmaster of Hogwarts, making his daily work very busy.
And even at over a hundred years old, he was still full of energy, always able to handle those complicated matters properly… most of the time.
But there were also some things that even with his power and wisdom, he found difficult to solve, unable to provide a perfect answer.
For example, in the area of raising children.

Even after being the Headmaster for so many years, there were always some students who gave him a headache.
This year's incoming student, Harry Potter?
Of course not. This child seemed to be detached from the wizarding world, but in reality, he had always been under Dumbledore's watchful eye. Dumbledore understood this child very well, and could slowly guide him by taking advantage of the situation, and everything would get back on track.
The one who truly troubled him was another child.
"Roger Virgil…"
After Dumbledore confirmed that he was a wizard, Roger Virgil seemed very happy.
But Roger's subsequent actions really made him a little worried.
After the trial ended, the first thing Roger busied himself with was preparing a funeral for the original owner's parents.
Since Dumbledore knew about this, he naturally wouldn't watch an 11-year-old child handle it himself.
He asked someone he trusted to help Roger. This was help, but also observation.
He wanted to profile Roger's inner thoughts through his actions.
The result?
"Alas," Dumbledore sighed.
At the funeral, relatives and friends from both Roger's parents' sides came to offer condolences, but whether it was the father's friends or the mother's family, Roger didn't seem to interact with them much.
In Roger's eyes, this was normal.
Firstly, the two sides had not seen each other for several years, so they were already somewhat estranged. Secondly, Roger was a transmigrator, and it would be really difficult for him to treat the original owner's relatives as his own.
In Roger's view, it was a good thing to part ways and forget each other in the world… Although his trial was over, he still had a lot of troubles that were far from over.
Whether it was the troubles he had caused in the past, or the troubles he would cause in the future, they were far beyond what some Muggles with a little money could bear. He owed some karma for transmigrating, so he shouldn't cause trouble for the original owner's relatives.
But in Dumbledore's view, he was rejecting reunions with relatives. The impact of the war on this child had not dissipated after he was acquitted.
Looking at the woolen socks in the corner, Dumbledore's mood was a little low.
When people get old, they become a little sentimental, always unable to stop reminiscing about the past.
Hurt by Muggles, attacking Muggles who hurt others in order to protect, seers, talented children with unique thinking… Dumbledore saw too many familiar shadows in Roger.
Too many memories he couldn't bear to recall and regretted.
He really didn't want to see the tragedies that had happened before play out again in front of his eyes in another form.
Dumbledore hoped that Roger would embark on the right path and have a happy life.
But as someone at the top of the wizarding world's pyramid, even if Dumbledore wanted to pay attention to Roger, he didn't have the energy because he was too busy.
Unable to do it himself, he could only entrust Roger's matter to another trustworthy person, just like entrusting Harry Potter's matter to his confidant Hagrid.

"The reason why Transfiguration is taught separately from most spells, with a separate course, is because the basic nature of Transfiguration is very different from ordinary spells?" Looking at the list of books he had to buy for the course, Roger asked, raising his head.
On the way to the Leaky Cauldron, Roger asked questions all the way, like an ordinary child full of curiosity about the magical world.
"It's not just the basic nature, even the way of casting spells is different," Professor McGonagall replied casually to Roger's question. She had met many young wizards who liked to ask this and that.
And most of them, after experiencing the hardships of learning magic in Hogwarts, would gradually lose this curiosity and interest in magic, and become learning machines that cope with exams.
Only a very small number of people would continue to maintain this thirst for knowledge, and would take the initiative to spend a lot of energy studying magical knowledge outside the curriculum that would not be tested at all.
"Most spells, through casting, add a magical property to the object being cast upon, such as the 'swelling' of the Pimple Jinx, the 'death' of curses, and the 'high temperature' and 'levitation' of ordinary spells."
"And Transfiguration is to change the physical properties of an object, such as size, structure, density, and even existence."
"The difference in casting methods is that ordinary spells are to 'make' the target 'become XX', while Transfiguration is to 'transform' it 'into XX'. They seem similar, but when your research on magic reaches a certain depth, you will understand how different they are."
Because she was explaining to a young wizard who had not yet entered school, Professor McGonagall did not go into too much detail, but just gave a general explanation in simple language.
Looking at Roger's thoughtful and immature face, Professor McGonagall felt a little helpless.
When the two of them were preparing the funeral together, they had a lot of contact. In Professor McGonagall's view, Roger didn't look like an 11-year-old child at all.
A thinker who is always wondering about something, that was Professor McGonagall's image of Roger in her mind.
Only when he came into contact with magic would he behave like a normal 11-year-old wizard, full of anticipation, like a child who had received a new toy.
Before entering Hogwarts, you need to buy the textbooks for the current grade, new-sized school uniforms, and for freshmen, you also need to buy cauldrons for the Potions class, wands for casting spells, pets, etc.
If one of the parents is a wizard, they will take the child to buy these things.
If both parents are ordinary people, commonly known as Muggles, then the work of leading the children to familiarize themselves with the magical world will be taken over by the teachers of Hogwarts.
For example, Harry Potter's guide when he first entered the wizarding world was Hagrid, the half-giant of Hogwarts.
None of Roger's family members had anything to do with wizards, all of them were Muggles.
So, he needed a teacher to lead the way to Diagon Alley to buy the many items needed for school… The location of Diagon Alley is hidden, and without a wizard who knows magic to lead the way, there is no way to get in.
And Roger's guide was Minerva McGonagall, one of Dumbledore's most trusted people, the Head of Gryffindor House at Hogwarts, and the Transfiguration professor.
Looking at the Leaky Cauldron, which had already appeared in sight and was only three to five minutes away, Professor McGonagall turned to look at Roger: "Roger, after graduating from Hogwarts, what do you plan to do? Join the Ministry of Magic, return to Muggle society, or…"
If this question were asked to other young wizards who were about to enter school, most of them would not be able to give a definite answer.
But Professor McGonagall had been with Roger for so long, and she believed that this child should have already thought of the answer.
And the fact was indeed as Minerva McGonagall had expected.
Roger gave a very clear answer.
