Hollywood Director 1992

#99 - Encounter in the bathroom (please read and collect)

After a few drinks, Link went to the restroom. On his way back, he ran into Nicole Kidman, who was wearing a dark red spaghetti strap dress that exposed her brilliantly white skin.

He greeted Nicole Kidman.

Nicole Kidman responded with a smile, praising 'Paranormal Activity' as a great movie that made her scream while watching it, and even mentioned the possibility of collaborating in the future.

As they were chatting, Nicole Kidman swayed, seemingly about to fall. Link instinctively reached out and supported her waist.

"Thank you!"

Nicole Kidman leaned on his shoulder, her perfume and the scent of alcohol wafting from her.

"Nicole, what are you doing here?"

Suddenly, Tom Cruise strode over.

"I almost fell, but Link caught me. He's such a kind gentleman."

Nicole Kidman smiled slightly and casually stepped away.

"Mr. Cruise, Mrs. Cruise, there's water on the floor. Please be careful as you pass by," Link said.

"Hmph!"

Tom Cruise walked to Nicole Kidman's side expressionlessly.

He wrapped his right arm tightly around her waist, his fingers almost digging into Nicole Kidman's soft skin.

Nicole Kidman frowned slightly, revealing a pitiful expression.

"Director Link, thank you for catching Nicole."

"You're welcome, it was nothing," Link said, raising his hand slightly before turning to leave, hearing the hushed argument between Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman behind him.

What an interesting couple.

Back at his seat, two new companions had arrived.

Tim Robbins and his live-in girlfriend, Susan Sarandon.

Both were in their forties and were famous Hollywood actors.

The former had starred in several lesser-known films, including 'Bob Roberts', 'Cadillac Man', 'Jungle Fever', and 'The Player'. The role that would make him a huge star in the future was the male lead in 'The Shawshank Redemption'.

Compared to Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon was much more famous.

Her representative works included 'Thelma \u0026 Louise', 'White Palace', 'Pretty Baby', and 'Atlantic City'.

She had received two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress.

Link was more familiar with Tim Robbins.

Sam Haskell had brought Tim Robbins to Guessing Game Films to visit him before.

Susan Sarandon, on the other hand, was a very cheerful and straightforward woman. Aside from her slightly bossy aura, she seemed pretty good in other respects.

"Link, many people say your filmmaking skills are terrible."

Pfft!!

Before Susan Sarandon could finish speaking, Tim Robbins spat a mouthful of beer onto the ground.

"Cough, cough, Susan, why are you saying that? That's just nonsense from people who are jealous of Link. It's not true, you don't need to bring it up here."

Tim Robbins wiped his mouth, while secretly tugging on Susan Sarandon's jeans pocket with his other hand.

"Stop touching my butt. I haven't finished what I was saying. How do you know this question can't be asked?"

Susan Sarandon slapped Tim Robbins' hand away and continued to ask Link, "Link, many people say your filmmaking skills are poor, and that both of your movies are just average. They say you only managed to get so much box office revenue through hype. What do you think of this?"

Tim Robbins covered his forehead, his face filled with embarrassment.

Link smiled nonchalantly and said, "I accept the criticism, but I don't agree with their claims. When filming the first movie, 'Buried', we had limited funds, and all the cameras and other equipment were rented. It's true that the resulting film was unpolished and rough around the edges in many aspects.

As for 'Paranormal Activity', it's a found-footage film. In order to pursue realism and a sense of terror, I sacrificed the film's refinement. I wasn't strict with the cinematography, lines, actor performances, or set design.

From an artistic standpoint, there are indeed shortcomings.

But from a viewing experience perspective, 'Paranormal Activity' is no less impressive than any other horror film."

"So confident? Compared to classic horror films like 'The Shining', 'Alien', 'Blade Runner', and 'Cape Fear', 'Paranormal Activity' is just as good?"

Susan Sarandon crossed her legs, a cigarette between her fingers, a hint of a smile on her face.

Tim Robbins tugged at her clothes, signaling her to stop asking, fearing Link might be embarrassed by such a question. He was close to dying of embarrassment himself.

"Yes, just as good. 'The Shining' is essentially a family drama, 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' are science fiction films, and 'Cape Fear' is a thriller. None of them are purely horror movies, only 'Paranormal Activity' is.

In this movie, we took horror to the extreme. All the plot and scenes serve the theme of horror, which is why 'Paranormal Activity' seems more terrifying."

Link said.

Clap clap clap!

"Link, you said it so well," Tim Robbins said quickly, "As long as a director can do one setting well, the movie won't be bad.

Some directors, in pursuit of artistry, deliberately insert a lot of action scenes into drama films, a lot of erotic content into action movies, and comedic elements into science fiction films, making them seem bizarre and out of place. I completely agree with your point."

Susan Sarandon glared at him, "I didn't say I disagreed. I'm chatting with Link about this to see what kind of person he is. Now it seems he's not as arrogant and conceited as the media portrays him. On the contrary, he's humble, confident, mature, and charismatic. Tim, you should learn from Link how to be a mature man."

No error, one song, one shot, one inside, one appearance, one look!

"No need. I think a big part of why you love me is because I'm not mature enough," Tim Robbins said jokingly, pulling on Susan.

"Yes, you are my son."

"Mom!"

Tim Robbins blurted out.

Link and Jennifer Connelly laughed in surprise.

The two had been living together for more than five years and still hadn't gotten married, probably because they enjoyed this kind of relationship where they could call each other son and mom at any time.

Harmonious and perverted.

"Hey, Link. Tim, Susan, how did you guys end up drinking together?"

Bald Bruce Willis and his wife Demi Moore came over to say hello.

"I'm late-blooming, and Link is precocious. We get along very well," Tim Robbins joked.

After Bruce Willis and his wife joined, the atmosphere in the booth became even livelier.

More than a dozen people chatted and laughed together, often attracting the attention of those around them.

"There have been many filmmakers standing up and publicly criticizing Link in the news recently. I thought he was hated by everyone in Hollywood. Now it seems it's not as bad as I imagined."

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, with a beauty mark on the corner of her lip, rested her chin on her hand and glanced back at Link's group from a seat not far away.

"Tim Robbins and Link are both clients of WMA, so they probably knew each other before," her husband Richard Gere said with a smile.

"That's true. Bruce Willis knows Quentin Tarantino, but he shouldn't be familiar with Link," Tom Cruise across from them said.

"Link and Quentin are both rising stars in the directing world with great potential. It's beneficial to know them," Nicole Kidman looked back.

"Compared to Quentin and Steven Soderbergh, Link and Robert are far behind. The four of them are not on the same level," Tom Cruise said.

"Indeed, Quentin's 'Reservoir Dogs' and Soderbergh's 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape' are clearly more artistic," Richard Gere echoed.

Nicole Kidman wanted to say something more.

Tom Cruise pulled her hand under the table, applying a little pressure to signal her to stop talking.
