#202 - Disney King
The next day, as Aaron prepared to leave Washington D.C., he was invited to a meeting by Haim Saban, an Israeli-American.
"Cooperation?" Aaron's eyes gleamed with amusement. The owner of a television company primarily focused on children's shows now wanted to collaborate with Dawn.
"Do you want to enter the film industry from television?"
Haim Saban nodded. "I wonder, Mr. Anderson, could you give me a chance?"
Aaron sighed. "What does Saban Entertainment have that's worth cooperating with?"
"Or rather, does Saban Entertainment own a television station?"
Haim Saban was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head, explaining, "We mainly produce children's and family-oriented shows!"
Aaron immediately lost interest. "If you have a script, just submit it to Dawn Company."
Another one who wants to cooperate without having anything. Aaron didn't bother wasting time.
If it weren't for Steven Spielberg's recommendation, this kind of person wouldn't even qualify to meet with him.
After wasting more than an hour with Haim Saban, Aaron went straight to Washington Airport!
Back in Los Angeles, Dawn's blockbuster "Forrest Gump" was about to start filming. Director Robert Zemeckis, actors Tom Hanks, Sally Field, Mykelti Williamson, Elizabeth Hurley, and others all attended the opening press conference.
Following "The Mask of Zorro," another Dawn project with a budget of $60 million was about to begin!
That evening, at the Shutters on the Beach hotel in Santa Monica.
Aaron stood by the window, admiring the Pacific Ocean's night view.
Elizabeth Hurley, wearing a sexy, semi-transparent nightgown, slowly walked over and affectionately kissed the man's face. "What's wrong? Dawn has achieved such dazzling results. Do you still have worries?"
Aaron smiled, put his arm around the woman, and caressed her curvaceous figure. "You seem a little different tonight!"
"Of course, I'm different," Elizabeth Hurley wrapped her arms around Aaron's neck, her nightgown open, revealing her perfect body.
"The female lead in a $60 million production made by Aaron Anderson, you tell me, how could I not be excited?"
Then, the two kissed, letting the sea breeze outside the window flutter their nightgowns!
At that moment, a Disney celebration party was being held at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Disney animated feature "Aladdin" had grossed $210 million in North America and $500 million worldwide.
Jeffrey Katzenberg, in charge of film and television operations, was beaming and talking to Michael Eisner about new projects!
As long-time friends, although they were now competing for power within Disney, they still had lunch together whenever they had time.
"Jeffrey, have you met with the Weinstein brothers from Miramax?"
Michael Eisner suddenly inquired about Miramax. Disney wanted to make a mark in the arts and needed awards.
Directly acquiring an art film studio was undoubtedly the most convenient way.
Jeffrey Katzenberg nodded. "I've already met them. Miramax is heavily in debt. The Weinstein brothers have no choice."
"It won't be difficult for Disney to acquire Miramax, but they want to maintain Miramax's independence!"
Michael Eisner smiled. "Only independence within Disney's acceptable range."
"Of course, the Disney brand cannot be desecrated."
Jeffrey Katzenberg naturally understood.
Michael Eisner frowned. "Is it possible for Disney to acquire Dawn? It doesn't matter if the price is a little higher."
Jeffrey Katzenberg shook his head and sighed directly. "Aaron Anderson was able to directly reject us back then, let alone now?"
Even Miramax proposed maintaining independence when it was acquired.
With Dawn's current performance, what conditions could you offer to impress him?
Michael Eisner nodded. Of course, he had also probed Aaron Anderson before, offering him the position of head of Disney Films, but Aaron Anderson was not interested at all.
Watching Dawn rise step by step under Aaron Anderson's leadership, everyone was envious.
Moreover, Michael Eisner wanted Aaron Anderson to join Disney to see him replace Jeffrey Katzenberg.
A young, capable Aaron Anderson replacing Jeffrey Katzenberg wouldn't be a big problem, and without Disney's complex relationships, he wouldn't threaten his position!
"Alright, 'Aladdin' has achieved remarkable results. Your contribution is indispensable. Go enjoy the cheers!"
Michael Eisner said, reaching out and patting Jeffrey Katzenberg's shoulder.
Michael Eisner soon found President Frank Wells. "How are Jeffrey's contract renewal negotiations going?"
Frank Wells was somewhat helpless. "The process isn't going smoothly. Their intention is to sign a contract stating that he will be president after I retire!"
Michael Eisner was calm, but the idea of firing Jeffrey Katzenberg grew stronger in his mind.
"My old friend, Michael Ovitz of CAA, informed me that Joe Roth, head of Twentieth Century Fox Film, intends to leave and form a production company."
"Go talk to him and let him take charge of Disney's live-action film business!"
This was Michael Eisner's backup plan. If Dawn's Aaron Anderson wasn't willing, Joe Roth was his replacement.
When the time came, with his support, it would be possible for Joe Roth to replace Jeffrey Katzenberg.
"Joe Roth, I understand!"
Frank Wells shook his head in his heart. Had it come to this?
The animated business managed by Jeffrey Katzenberg had achieved brilliant results, and the board of directors wanted to renew his contract.
But Michael Eisner's conflict with him was so sharp that Frank Wells was still using the position of Disney president to bargain with Jeffrey Katzenberg.
It would be difficult to replace Jeffrey Katzenberg with Joe Roth. Even with the support of Roy Disney, a Disney family member and veteran of the animation business, it wouldn't be that simple!
Film companies need to rely on strength to speak. The current Jeffrey Katzenberg is impeccable in terms of both ability and performance.
"Jeffrey's ability is indeed good, but Disney shouldn't have too many voices."
Michael Eisner had the support of the Disney board of directors. Although he wasn't afraid of Jeffrey Katzenberg's challenge,
Jeffrey Katzenberg publicly singing a different tune and disrespecting him was absolutely intolerable!
There can only be one king of Disney…
