#35 - Cage is more suitable
Towards the end of October, Aaron had already returned to Los Angeles to find someone to adapt the screenplay for "Phone Booth."
And Jennifer Connelly was also preparing to return to Stanford University!
"I've already spoken with the people in Italy. At the beginning of next year, you'll go directly to the Milan studio to film your scenes for 'Everybody's Fine';"
"For now, go back to school. Aren't classes resuming over there?"
In the car, Aaron leaned back in his seat, holding Jennifer Connelly in his arms, discussing their plans.
"Yeah, weren't you going to have me stay with you for a few more days?"
Jennifer Connelly asked with a smile.
"Uh, young people, studying is the most important thing!"
"But what you said before was that we should seize the day while we're young and enjoy ourselves?"
"Before was before. Now, we should focus on studying and our careers," Aaron patted the girl in his arms.
"But last night in the bathroom, you said my importance outweighed your career!"
Aaron smiled, "Alright, I'll make time to visit you at Stanford University. After the New Year, you still have to go to Milan, Italy, to film for half a month. There will be plenty of time."
Aaron wondered if he should get Jennifer Connelly a few lingerie endorsements; otherwise, it would be a bit of a waste?
Jennifer Connelly kissed Aaron on the lips, "Then I'm leaving. When the time comes, you'll accompany me to Milan!"
In the evening, Aaron invited Quentin Tarantino to the club for drinks to discuss the screenplay for "Phone Booth."
"Your idea is very novel, and the story's setting and characters are very simple!"
Quentin Tarantino looked at Aaron, "Can it really be done this way?"
"It needs a director who is good at creating tension and suspense."
Aaron leaned back on the sofa, absently stroking the glass in his hand, "Moreover, it needs an actor with adequate acting skills!"
"Any candidates?"
"No director yet," Aaron shook his head.
Aaron couldn't afford a capable director.
For "Phone Booth," Aaron only wanted to spend one or two million dollars to film it. Besides the cameos from the artists he already had, he would choose other inexpensive actors.
He looked at Quentin Tarantino, "Can you handle this kind of film?"
Quentin Tarantino smiled awkwardly, "I've never tried it before, and I prefer plots with black humor!"
Aaron took a sip of his drink. "Phone Booth" needed a director who focused on plot. Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh were both unsuitable.
Steven Soderbergh's preachy style of delivery lacked tension. The main purpose of "Phone Booth" was commercial appeal.
As for Quentin Tarantino, if he were to direct it, it would probably turn into a black comedy with several chatterboxes!
However, Aaron had some ideas about the male lead. He could approach James Spader, the male lead in "Sex, Lies, and Videotape."
However, James Spader had just won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival, and his salary would probably be at least several hundred thousand dollars.
"By the way, has Tony Scott considered producing 'True Romance'?"
When Aaron Anderson helped Quentin Tarantino sell the script to Tony Scott, the director had asked him some questions.
"Not so fast. Tony Scott's schedule is quite full right now. He's filming 'Days of Thunder' starring Tom Cruise!"
However, it seemed that "Days of Thunder" would soon be wrapping up.
"Don't worry, Tony Scott bought a five-year copyright. He will develop it!"
Otherwise, who would sell an original script for fifty or sixty thousand dollars?
Moreover, Quentin Tarantino's script still had many merits.
Especially his other script, "Natural Born Killers." Aaron thought this script was better than the previous "True Romance!"
As November arrived, Nicole Kidman's "Wild at Heart" crew moved to California for filming.
Barstow, a city in the Mojave Desert region of San Bernardino County, California, located between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
"It's indeed wild enough," Aaron came to the set to visit Nicole Kidman. The performance of the male lead, Nicolas Cage, was indeed impressive!
In a hotel in Barstow that night, Aaron rolled off Nicole Kidman, took a few breaths, "David Lynch's works have always liked to incorporate supernatural elements. 'Wild at Heart' is one of his few normal works."
Nicole Kidman smiled and nestled into Aaron's arms, "I think this movie should get critical acclaim!"
Aaron nodded, hugging the sexy Nicole Kidman in his arms, but thinking in his heart that Nicolas Cage seemed very suitable for the male lead role in "Phone Booth";
In terms of acting skills, Nicolas Cage was definitely no worse than James Spader, and now, Nicolas Cage didn't have any awards or box office advantages, so the price would be cheap enough!
After all, James Spader's film, "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival;
And its box office success of $24 million was also a commercial success.
Aaron felt that inviting Nicolas Cage to play the male lead in "Phone Booth," a one-man show, would not be difficult for him;
Then, Nicole Kidman could make a cameo appearance as the male lead's wife in the movie.
The remaining two important roles were the police officer and the killer. Adam Sandler could try out!
Then, he looked at the beautiful Nicole Kidman in his arms and kissed her on the lips.
"Darling, 'Wild at Heart' has a lot of road scenes. It must be tiring to film, right?"
Nicole Kidman was his woman, and Aaron still needed to care about her.
"A little bit. We ran to several locations in Wilmington as well. Now Barstow is the last filming location, mainly this section of U.S. Route 66;"
"However, this role has a lot of room for development and is not just a simple vase!"
Aaron smiled, leaned in and whispered in Nicole Kidman's ear: "Your wild blonde look, combined with your sexy figure, is really attractive."
"Then what are we waiting for? I haven't seen you in so long!"
Nicole Kidman said, leaning on Aaron and asking for a kiss.
David Lynch's eye for beautiful women was indeed accurate. This year, he also directed a dark surrealist thriller television series, "Twin Peaks";
The beauties in "Twin Peaks" were not bad either.
"Wild at Heart" and "Twin Peaks" were both produced by Propaganda Films, a company famous for shooting television commercials and music videos;
And David Lynch was one of the founders of Propaganda Films!
"Wild at Heart" was invested by PolyGram and was a co-production. The North American distributor was Samuel Goldwyn Films, so there was no need to find overseas distributors through other agencies;
Propaganda Films and PolyGram could both find international distribution themselves.
