Hollywood starts with a broker

#73 - Be careful when auditioning

"OK, I declare the final scene of 'Ghost' is finished!"

"After two and a half months of hell, we can finally celebrate tonight. Aaron has booked a venue at the Culver Hotel..."

Director Edward Zwick announced the wrap of 'Ghost,' and the crew immediately became lively.

"Woah, I definitely need a good drink."

"I want to sleep for three days and three nights..."

Nicole Kidman also relaxed and drove back to Aaron Anderson's place in West Hollywood.

At that moment, Aaron Anderson had just bought a new car from a car dealership, a Lexus LS400 sedan.

Japanese cars really sell well in the United States. Lexus, Toyota's new luxury car brand launched a couple of years ago, sold 160,000 units in just one year!

Having just purchased the Blues Brothers Theater and given Jack Wills $300,000 for renovations, Aaron didn't have much left of the $1.3 million in his personal account.

"Hey, Jack, don't forget the party at the Culver Hotel tonight!"

Aaron called Jack Wills to notify him.

"I remember. By the way, do you have any ideas for the theater's name? I think we should change it!"

"Just change it to whatever you want."

Aaron wouldn't care about such trivial matters.

In the evening, 'Ghost' held a wrap party at the Culver Hotel, allowing the crew members to relax.

Aaron, Edward Zwick, and David Fincher discussed the film's post-production. "The editing, special effects, and soundtrack must be as perfect as possible;"

"Sony Columbia plans to release 'Ghost' during the summer. There's still time!"

Just as Aaron finished speaking, his assistant, a blonde woman with glasses named Aislinn Beckett, approached, seemingly with something to say.

"Alright, enjoy tonight," Arthur said, patting them both on the shoulders.

"Aislinn, what's up?" Aislinn Beckett was previously a production assistant at Orion Pictures and was recruited by Aaron as his company assistant.

"That old film we talked about last time is an Italian comedy from the 1970s called 'Scent of a Woman,' which was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film;"

"It's a story about a retired blind lieutenant and his assistant's journey!"

Aaron came back to his senses and smiled, "That's even better. We can directly buy the remake rights. Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore is a friend of mine, and we can ask him to help us purchase them."

Aaron thought of 'Scent of a Woman' after meeting Al Pacino previously;

He only remembered that 'Scent of a Woman' was a remake of a foreign film, but he wasn't sure of the details, although he remembered some of the plot.

Now that Aislinn Beckett has found it, it must be this 'Scent of a Woman'.

Aislinn Beckett nodded, "Also, there's news from Orion Pictures that their financial situation is getting worse. They don't plan to release 'The Silence of the Lambs' this year either!"

Aaron knew that Orion Pictures wasn't planning to release 'The Silence of the Lambs' this year. Wasn't that because he didn't have the money to get involved?

"Alright, let's buy back the remake rights to 'Scent of a Woman' first!"

Without the release of 'Ghost,' Aaron really doesn't have the funds to do big things.

While Aaron was celebrating the end of filming 'Ghost,' on the other side, Hollywood's loser Warren Beatty was being interviewed by 'Entertainment Weekly';

'Entertainment Weekly,' newly founded this year by Time Magazine Group, is based on 'People' but mainly focuses on the lives of Hollywood stars!

Faced with the reporter's comparison between 'Pretty Woman' and 'Dick Tracy,' Warren Beatty responded disdainfully, "A greenhorn who just entered Hollywood got God's favor;"

"He just stumbled upon a few successful works by relying on speculative tricks. Relying on this kind of cleverness cannot gain a foothold in Hollywood..."

The reporter smiled, "Mr. Warren Beatty, but this greenhorn you're talking about has received praise from Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg and superstar Al Pacino;"

"Moreover, his Dawn Pictures is simultaneously developing his second and third films!"

Warren Beatty's expression was indifferent, "So what? Will God keep favoring him?"

The reporter wasn't really interested in Aaron Anderson's affairs, after all, he's just a producer, not a star, and lacks sensationalism.

"By the way, are you still dating Ms. Madonna Ciccone?"

"Sean Penn, Madonna's ex-husband, said you're just an old-fashioned Hollywood whoremonger. What do you think?"

"Also, is your wild sex with Madonna true? Are you still in contact with French actress Isabelle Adjani?"

As the questions became more and more tricky, Warren Beatty's face became increasingly unsightly...

Morning, West Hollywood, Aaron's apartment.

In the bedroom, the bed was extremely messy. Aaron Anderson and Nicole Kidman, who had gone wild for most of the night, woke up together!

With a sexy and slender figure, and fair skin adorned with a few kiss marks that hadn't faded, Nicole Kidman, lying on Aaron, kissed the man, "Aren't you getting up, darling?"

Feeling the alluring body in his arms, Aaron stroked the woman's body, "I can't enjoy myself after being so busy for so long!"

Nicole Kidman smiled without saying a word, only lying on the man and stroking Aaron's smooth abs.

Around noon, Nicole Kidman handed Aaron a newspaper and smiled, "It seems Warren Beatty said you're a speculator, a lucky greenhorn!"

Uninterrupted and first published!

Aaron casually took it and looked at it, with no expression on his face, "A naive idiot, still can't see the situation?"

"With this guy's current scandals, unless there's a major exchange of benefits, who would still use him as the male lead?"

After putting down the newspaper, Aaron leaned back on the sofa and patted the woman. Nicole Kidman sat in the man's arms, "'Boyz n the Hood' will wrap in about two to three weeks. I need to pay close attention. There are many newcomers in the crew;"

"So the filming progress is a bit slow. You can rest well for a while recently. 'Wild at Heart' is an art film, there aren't many promotional activities."

"I know, but 'Wild at Heart' is being released in these few days, I still need to participate in some promotional activities!"

Saying that, Nicole Kidman kissed Aaron on the cheek again, "However, my agent said that Disney is preparing a gangster biopic, which needs a sexy and beautiful female character;"

"They will arrange for me to audition."

"Disney's gangster biopic?" Aaron smiled casually, "Hasn't the failure of 'Dick Tracy' taught them a lesson yet?"

Nicole Kidman leaned close to Aaron's ear, "It seems to be an adaptation of the novel of the same name by writer E. L. Doctorow, 'Billy Bathgate';"

"Starring Dustin Hoffman."

The novel 'Billy Bathgate' won the American 'National Book Critics Circle Award' and the 'Faulkner Award for Literature' this year, and was recommended by 'Time Magazine' as one of the ten best works in the world in the 1980s!

Aaron Anderson has never been interested in gangster films, and frowned, because of Dustin Hoffman.

"Dustin Hoffman seems to have also joined Steven Spielberg's fantasy adventure film 'Hook' in collaboration with Samsung Pictures!"

Looking at Nicole Kidman in his arms, Aaron reminded her, "Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty are very close;".

"Don't look at him with a seemingly honest and weak face, this guy is not a good person either. Harassing actresses on set is also common;".

"When you go to the audition, you must be careful. If there's any problem, call me directly."

Nicole Kidman certainly understood what Aaron meant, and nodded, "Don't worry, I know what to do. 'Ghost' has just finished filming;".

"I have a lot of confidence in you, and I have to wait until 'Ghost' is released next year!"

Aaron pinched the woman's body, "If 'Ghost' doesn't do well, what are you going to do?"

"Well, don't I have you? You will definitely continue to give me opportunities..."
