I am farming in the real world

#35 - Meiyou Subway Station

In every Wenzhou citizen's heart, there's a persistent yearning for a major subway infrastructure project.

It's become a running joke, much like the 'Meiyou Airport' in Suzhou.

Despite its early development, with its private economy becoming a national leader in the last century, and its housing prices skyrocketing in the early 2000s, even surpassing those of the imperial capital and Shanghai at one point.

Even the first private airline route in China was proposed by a bold Wenzhou native, the founder of Junyao Group.

Yet, a city with a main urban population of over five million and a relatively decent economy has been unable to build a subway for so long.

Wenzhou's netizens have various theories, one being the unsuitable geological soil.

The seemingly flat land beneath Wenzhou was formed by river sediment deposited along the coast, creating an alluvial plain filled with soft silt and very deep bedrock.

Building a subway would be costly, and shallow foundations could easily lead to subsidence and collapse.

Others argue that Wenzhou's uneven economic development and localized trends make a subway unnecessary.

After much discussion, there's still no definitive plan for a subway.

After more than twenty years of dragging and tossing, only two extremely remote S1 and S2 light rail lines were built as substitutes for a subway.

However, these two light rail lines have such low ridership on weekdays that it's embarrassing, and they consistently operate at a loss, causing locals to curse and complain that they 'might as well not have been built at all'.

Chen Jue, being a Wenzhou native, naturally has a strong desire for a 'subway'.

He just intends to use the convenience of the MC system to build a few private subways of his own.

This will make it easier to travel quickly throughout Wenzhou and build underground bases to manage his farming plans.

"Wenzhou folks, you'll have to suffer a little longer."

"This MC rail thing is not convenient to share with everyone."

Chen Jue smiled smugly.

Once the idea of building a large-scale underground infrastructure took root, it quickly sprouted and grew in his mind.

First, he opened the offline map of Gaode on his phone and looked at the overall layout of Wenzhou.

He felt that spreading the project across the entire city would be too large, so he decided to start with a 'short' one as a trial.

"For now, I'll connect Ruian to Wencheng, and visit my grandpa more often when I have time, to fulfill my filial piety," Chen Jue planned in his heart.

His idea was simple: as long as a direct rail line between the two places was laid.

And by giving the [Minecart] a certain initial velocity, or using the glitch of the [Rail] turning angle for a fast forward method, he could achieve the ultra-fast acceleration of hundreds of blocks (meters) per second in the game.

If he could achieve this expected speed between Chen Village and Pingtou Village, the surface driving distance of over 70 kilometers, which takes more than 1.5 hours, could be shortened to just a few minutes.

How much travel time would this save Chen Jue in the future?

As for how to conceal his "underground teleportation" travel method, he just needs to have a private car with excellent privacy, and have Tie Yi drive to the destination in advance.

As long as he avoids the surveillance cameras when getting in and out of the car, this epic "deceiving the heavens" project can be perfectly and reasonably realized in the real world.

By analogy, Chen Jue only needs to build or rent a highly sealed factory or warehouse in various places, where no outsiders are present, and lay the underground [Rails] in advance, and he can easily conquer the world!

"Traveling around the earth in a minecart doesn't seem impossible," Chen Jue thought, feeling that this plan had great potential.

He took out a notebook from his backpack and wrote and drew on it.

After that, he temporarily used the batched [Iron Ingots] to synthesize [Iron Blocks], and accelerated the creation of new Iron Golems using the ripened [Baby Pumpkins].

He plans to complete the remaining 96 Iron Golem recruitment slots.

Because digging subway tunnels is a big project, and the first "Chenping Rail (Chen Village to Pingtou Village)" line is 70 kilometers long, almost a third of the Jingzhang Railway built under the supervision of Zhan Tianyou, the father of Chinese railways.

Such a long distance will take much more time and effort than this underground fortress, requiring a large number of people to work, so more Iron Golems must be recruited.

In addition, it's easy to lose your sense of direction when working underground, so Chen Jue plans to synthesize the [Compass] or [Map] from MC first, to serve as auxiliary tools for construction.

Unfortunately, the [Compass] in MC still cannot avoid the heaven-defying [Redstone] material in the game.

Chen Jue had to use his brain and first climbed to the old house to rummage through boxes on the second floor.

From an iron box dedicated to storing outdated mobile phones, he pulled out an old Xiaomi phone that he bought when he was in college. He pried open the back cover with tools and took out the electronic compass inside.

Looking at the system subtitles, he saw: [Electronic Compass: Man-made digital compass, can be used to synthesize maps, durability ?? / ??]

"Waste utilization!"

"Now I don't need to buy a compass online."

Chen Jue looked pleasantly surprised.

He took a few unused textbooks left over from his school days from the dusty bookshelf in the old house, and went back to the underground fortress to use the workbench for new formula synthesis.

In the nine-grid synthesis column, he wrapped [Paper] x 8, torn from the textbooks, in a circle, and placed [Electronic Compass] x 1 in the middle, to synthesize the MC [Map].

Then he repeated this set of synthesis formulas, but replaced the compass in the middle with [Map], to further synthesize an advanced [Map] with a wider observation range.

He took out the [Map] and put it on the tool bar, and just like when he encountered an error garbled code when downloading a movie with Xunlei in the past, strips of vertical pixel mosaics began to load slowly on the square.

After waiting for a few seconds for the mosaic to load, a coded collection of learning materials from a teacher...呸 呸 呸, it should be an MC pixel remote sensing map covering hundreds of kilometers up, down, left, and right, centered on Chen Village's old house, appeared in front of Chen Jue!

Chen Jue took out the Gaode map and switched to the remote sensing satellite map to compare, and found that the outlines displayed by the two were completely consistent.

Moreover, as long as Chen Jue moves or turns, the white marker in the center of this [Map] will follow.

"Amazing!"

"With this [Map], whether on the ground or underground, even without Beidou or GPS positioning signals, you can update the changes in the surrounding environment in real time."

"If this is sent to Qin Shihuang, the ancestor..."

Chen Jue's eyes widened, and he couldn't imagine how useful this MC [Map] would be in an era when information was not developed.

… …

After fixing the core positioning tool for underground construction, Chen Jue began to issue orders, dividing a batch of the newly synthesized 96 Iron Golems to start the initial tunnel excavation work for the "Chenping Rail".

Their names were also randomly named by the MC system, continuing from Iron Fool Five, Iron Old Six, Iron Small Seven.

Seeing that there was no "Iron Fool Five" who explored the canyon with his face, Chen Jue specially took the red [Poppy] in his hand to commemorate the hardworking Iron Fool.

In addition, due to the relatively tight cash reserves on hand, Chen Jue did not buy the new batch of Iron Golems a 10,000 yuan krypton gold ordinary human skin.

Anyway, they are working underground, as long as they are not taken to the ground to see living people, it doesn't have much impact to temporarily work in the original form of the Iron Golem.

It's just that the starting point of the "Chenping Rail" construction was temporarily changed by Chen Jue.

He thought about it and felt that starting to dig from a depth of 3000 meters underground was still a bit unsafe.

If a large project is suddenly carried out on the ground in the future, such as prospecting, drilling deep wells, or finding ancient tombs, it will be easy to discover this strange subway tunnel.

So Chen Jue asked the Iron Golems to dig a 7,000-block vertical shaft further into the ground, making it a whole 10,000 meters on the basis of the original depth.

"At this depth, it's nearly one-thirty-third of the Earth's crust. Hiding under here, even if I encounter Trisolarans or the end of the world in the future, it probably won't affect me."

"Unless a super-ancient civilization emerges from the ground, like Tiga's Land of Light or something," Chen Jue smiled wickedly.

After that, he commanded the Iron Golems to divide into two groups, one responsible for excavating the subway tunnel, and the other responsible for continuing to prospect and mine the [Ultra-Poor Iron Ore] veins that were previously discovered.

Because if you want to lay long-distance [Rails], even laying a 70-kilometer single-track route, the consumption of [Iron Ingots] is very large.

Chen Jue roughly calculated that more than 27,000 iron ore blocks would be barely enough, including the charcoal needed for smelting iron with the [Furnace], which also needs to be replenished in large quantities.

"Take it slow!"

"Dig the tunnel first, and then replenish these materials later," Chen Jue glanced at the time and realized that he had been busy until 12 o'clock at night.

So he yawned and slowly climbed up to Pit No. 1.

He went into the wooden house of the artificial village that had not yet spawned [Villagers], and fell headlong on the [Bed], snoring loudly, "Zzzz ~".

However, entering that peculiar out-of-body sleep state caused Chen Jue to start thinking wildly in his dreams.

"If a hundred Iron Golems are building and digging tunnels at the same time, I wonder how long it will take to dig a rail that circles the earth."

"Although I'm not one of those naughty kids in the game who wants to blow up the server, I'm just a casual player who likes farming and building houses."

"But digging for oil under the White House of the Eagle Sauce family seems like a good way to make money."
