The cargo compartment of the moon landing version will be added with a living module and a lunar lander. The total weight will be controlled at about 95 tons and can carry 7 astronauts.
There is a cost for such a heavy space shuttle to fly completely and return to the earth. The traditional engine consumes too much fuel and is not feasible. It is expected to be equipped with a 10-ton nuclear thermal rocket engine with a unit price of more than 300 million yuan, which is very fuel-saving.
It can only be said that engineers with money and skills have begun to let themselves go, but Lin Ju still approved it, because the research plans of the latter two have a two-year deadline and have time to adjust.
The other is the turbofan part removed from the 90KN combined power engine. After evaluation, it is believed that two modifications can be developed.
The best modification is to be used as a fighter or bomber engine, because this turbofan engine, tentatively named XW-9, according to the system introduction, can propel the aircraft to an altitude of 33,000 meters, with a Mach number of 3.4.
After being taken out separately and made into a small-bypass-ratio aviation engine, the thrust is as high as 13.9 tons in the afterburner state, the thrust-to-weight ratio is 10.6, and it can last for 40 minutes. Fighters with a take-off weight of less than 40 tons can easily fly to Mach 3 when used.
The second is to increase the bypass ratio and cut off the afterburner at the expense of reducing the maximum speed. As a technology or transport aircraft engine, a single unit has a thrust of 15 tons and a fuel consumption rate of 0.52, which is relatively fuel-efficient in the same class.
The manufacturing cost of both engines is between 15 million and 25 million each. The former is about 5 million US dollars and the latter is less than 20 million US dollars for engines of the same level. Obviously, the profits are extremely high.
