The moment Callett posed this question, Zasna's gaze shifted, and Marn seemed to choke, unsure how to answer. Clearly, Callett's question was loaded.

What Zasna hadn't anticipated was that he wouldn't even try to conceal his intentions. Black was there to discredit Marn, and even if Marn was initially fine, he might now reveal a "weakness."

It seemed he didn't care much about the truth.

But Marn's pause was shorter than Zasna and Callett expected:

"Of course, but is our perception of anything completely devoid of subjectivity? From what I've gathered these past few days, even the consciousness of a Mechanical Titan is closer to that of a human."

Callett said expressionlessly, like an interrogator:

"Indeed, but your subjective view of Shenxiao could severely affect your judgment of her. When you speak of her, your tone even contains a fair amount of worship. You must know that worship is the reason the gods exist, and according to our research, this state severely affects humanity's correct perception of things.

"From what I understand, humans easily develop this emotion towards things they don't understand and that are more powerful than themselves. In the past, you developed this view of nature, which you couldn't understand, and recently you seem to have begun worshiping other humans. You are so easily prone to worship, so it's no surprise you would worship Shenxiao.

"But you must know that the gods have never been able to reflect true nature. Serann is not that eternal, immortal star, Shana is not that great being that birthed all life on this planet, and the Thunder God is not the fleeting lightning itself.

"Looking at an object of worship is like looking at a distant star through a distorted telescope. You can never truly see the real appearance of those being worshiped, be they gods or the destined returner, and the most common characteristic of this distortion is the exaggeration of their strengths and the neglect of their weaknesses.

"That being the case, how can I believe that the Shenxiao you describe is her true self?"

After these words were spoken, Zasna could feel that the Titans watching this scene were beginning to lean towards Callett. After all, "worship" was almost synonymous with error in the Titans' eyes. Even she was somewhat averse to this behavior, and Marn had indeed sounded somewhat worshipful when he spoke.

Marn also frowned slightly. He had deliberately displayed a slight worship of Shenxiao, as this was in line with the identity he was about to perform and corresponded to his level of ability.

He was also imitating many members of the Salvation Alliance he had seen and heard about. Many of the earliest members of the Salvation Alliance to die in battle were fanatical in their worship of Shenxiao. It was said that some of them would even chant slogans like "Long live Shenxiao" to cheer themselves on during battle.

He hadn't expected that his deliberate imitation would give Callett an opportunity to counterattack, and judging from the expressions of the other Titans, his words seemed to make sense to them, and even their gazes towards him were now tinged with suspicion.

"No, I think you misunderstand," Marn said, not trying to make excuses about the worship, but directly denying his previous behavior. "I don't worship her, but I can understand your thoughts.

"Because any objective description of her can easily make people feel that it contains too much subjectivity. After all, you haven't seen her with your own eyes, but when I talk about her achievements, I'm telling the truth.

"That should be enough, right?"

Callett asked:

"Then what is your relationship with Shenxiao? If I had to say, your understanding and admiration of her is more than that of an ordinary person who has heard of her. It's impossible for you to have no connection to her."

His previous "accusation" wasn't that suppressive, but this was just the beginning. While reviewing Zasna's recorded conversations, he had vaguely sensed that there must be an unspoken relationship between Marn and Shenxiao, and Marn's previous statement also indirectly confirmed his guess.

Marn was being honest about this:

"You guessed right, there's a reason why I mentioned her, but that was all in the past.

"Shenxiao used to have an organization called the Salvation Alliance. In fact, we were just a loose organization doing some good things around her, but this organization itself was too weak compared to Shenxiao.

"Therefore, whether in the past or now, the Salvation Alliance has very little influence, and we were eventually forced to disband in the subsequent battles with the Federation. The identity of a Salvation Alliance member is no longer important."

Seeing Marn admit this, Callett smiled.

Marn had finally said what he was waiting for. Just as Zasna suspected, Callett's real purpose was not to find out whether what Marn was saying was true or false, but to kill him here.

Even Marn's life or death was of no importance to him. What Callett really cared about was the Ninth Queen and her whimsical plan. Although he couldn't object to her ideas when she was awake.

But now that she was asleep, he could screen these humans for her.

Anyway, she wouldn't really do anything to him. The worst outcome would be to strip him of his position, but he had long wanted to quit anyway, and there was no need to worry about any punishment.

"So you're actually Shenxiao's subordinate?" Callett revealed a mocking smile. "Don't you think it's a bit ridiculous to mention this only after saying so much? Do you still want to say that your words are objective?"

Marn still maintained a calm expression and said:

"Of course, the Salvation Alliance wasn't a particularly formal organization. If the Federation hadn't insisted on exterminating all Salvation Alliance members, I would have run away on my own long ago.

"And I joined the Salvation Alliance only because Shenxiao promised me benefits at the time, but in the end, I still stayed there to help them fight against the Federation because I believed in Shenxiao's abilities.

"It's not because of how I see her that I think she's strong, but precisely because she's strong that so many incredible things happen, and since you all think that humans are such a vile and terrible race...

"Then doesn't the fact that a capable person who upholds kindness and justice can summon so many people to follow her and be treated so solemnly by the strongest force of humanity prove her strength?"
