#687 - 675 Dragon Hunter (Update started!)

And so, Maen, the man from the village, formed a dragon-slaying team with the mysterious helmeted woman, and with their heads held high, they prepared to head in the direction of the dragon. However, they hadn't taken more than a few steps before they realized a serious problem.

How were they going to find the dragon?

Even adventurers from neighboring territories had been attracted by the high reward, but so far, no one had returned alive with news of the dragon. Instead, adventurers would occasionally disappear without a trace.

However, they had never revealed any information they had obtained to others, and the dragon was likely to roam constantly throughout the Kingdom of Llama.

If it weren't for the Forger's certainty that it was still nearby, trying to take revenge on the Kingdom of Llama, the adventurers might have thought it had already left. But the Forger was sure it was still lurking around.

This was also the reason why the dragon kidnapped the princess—it wanted to lure out the Forger and other members of the royal family, slaughter them all, and complete its cruel revenge.

It wanted to do to the Pioneer what the Pioneer had done to it.

"Maen," the helmeted woman said excitedly as she burst open the door to the inn room, "I've got some information."

Maen, who was inside the room, was currently suspended in mid-air, with a handful of flowing sand in front of him, undergoing complex and rapid changes under his gaze, sometimes transforming into lifelike animals, sometimes into precise instruments.

Hearing the helmeted woman's words, Maen floated back to the ground and retracted the sand into his sleeve:

"Is it about the dragon?"

The helmeted woman nodded slightly:

"I heard that a mysterious adventurer knows how to track the dragon. She charges a high fee to point out the dragon's direction, and the information is accurate.

"But the problem is that the information can't keep up with the dragon's speed. Often, by the time the adventurers arrive, they only find traces left by the dragon."

Maen was a little puzzled by this:

"If that's the case, why not take her along to hunt the dragon together?"

The helmeted woman said sympathetically:

"I thought so too, but that's the problem. It's not like no one else has thought of that, but she has refused all requests, and I even heard that someone once tried to take her away by force.

"Of course, they didn't succeed and barely escaped with their lives, but since then, this mysterious tracker has disappeared and never shown her face again.

"She's the most likely dragon tracker we can find."

Maen nodded slightly, his mind starting to work naturally:

"Then we have to find a way to find her. Maybe we can start with her past relationships, or study how she tracks..."

But just as Maen was analyzing the situation as usual, the helmeted woman interrupted him.

"No need," she said cheerfully, "I've already found a way. Actually, the adventurers who tried to take her away by force last time didn't give up. They posted a reward, wanting to organize a professional team to capture her again.

"After all, while not everyone can track dragons, there are plenty of experts at tracking humans.

"And I've already taken the reward for us."

After hearing that she had already arranged everything, Maen felt strangely odd for some reason. Even though he had never cooperated with anyone in his life, he seemed to have gotten used to being the one making the decisions.

But he didn't waste time on this strange feeling and immediately asked:

"So you mean we pretend to join that team and then cut them off?"

Although he couldn't see it, Maen could still feel the helmeted woman smiling:

"Yes, we're going to play the hero and rescue the beauty."

…………

The Ogre Experts were a notorious mercenary group. Before turning their attention to the dragon, they had completed many amazing missions. They even served as kingdom mercenaries and conquered many territories during the reign of the former King "Pioneer."

And in every city they conquered, an open-air feast would begin.

Soaring black smoke would engulf the streets, and human torsos pierced by spears would drip with hot oil as they roasted. All the mercenary members would feast on the red meat on the grills.

As the name suggested, they were professional mercenaries, and their hobby was cannibalism.

At this moment, Dill, the vice-captain of the Ogre Experts, was standing in the square. He was a tall, thin man with a dagger-like hooked nose. His skin was as pale as a corpse, and his face had an inhumanly strange aura, like the product of recent breeding in some remote village.

But for some reason, this face gave Maen a sense of familiarity.

He seemed to have seen creatures with similar features.

The helmeted woman whispered:

"It is said that the leaders of the Ogre Experts are not like us. They are a rare humanoid race called something like Stirkils.

"I don't know the details, but I heard that they can gain some kind of power by eating people. The leaders, including that one, are all Level V powerhouses, which is why they dare to track that terrifying dragon.

"Only such strong people think they have a chance to defeat the dragon."

Maen replied in an air layer that could block sound:

"Do you think they can really defeat the dragon?"

The helmeted woman chuckled and said:

"It depends on how strong the dragon is. The official information released by the Forger is that the dragon is only Level V, and it succeeded by using its racial talents, poison, treasures, and ambushing the seriously injured Pioneer.

"But that was the great Pioneer, a monster who once slaughtered the dragon's entire family alone. Even among Level VI powerhouses, he was definitely a strong one, after all, he slaughtered several Level VI adult dragons back then."

"Even though he had just repelled the combined forces of the Sun God Serraen and the God of War, and suffered injuries that were difficult to heal in a short period of time, and that dragon had prepared several Level VI treasures for revenge, it was still the Pioneer after all.

"I suspect that even if the dragon is really at Level V as the Forger said, it's probably not an ordinary Level V opponent. Of course, treasures that restrain dragons are also easy to find."

Maen nodded slightly:

"So it depends on how well they prepare."

As they were talking, Dill, who was standing in front, spoke:

"You all claim to be professional trackers and capturers. If you can find this annoying dragon hunter for us, the Ogre Experts will definitely not skimp on the gold coins.

"But if you screw this up for me, my teammates and I won't be able to control our mouths."

With that, he revealed his silver-white fangs.
