I Have a Research Support System

Chapter 43 Exploring Etching Conditions

The department has set the date of July 27th and 28th for the Summer Camp of Baoyan University.

This arrangement is taking into account the postgraduate students from other schools. They will come to the school on the 27th, and then the department will take them to visit the campus of Shanghai University, and arrange a trip to the Bund in the evening.

Graduate students of our school can also sign up to participate in the play activities on the 27th.

However, Xu Qiu didn't plan to join in the fun. Although he is not a native of Shanghai, he went to the Bund three times during his three years in college.

On the 28th, the department will organize interviews for all graduate students.

Afterwards, the department will contact each student individually to confirm each student's intention to guarantee research, whether it is an academic master's degree, a professional master's degree or a direct Ph.D.

Finally, the proposed admission list will be announced at the beginning of the next semester.

The research group's holiday time is from August 1st to August 15th, a total of two weeks.

If the ticket or air ticket is not easy to buy, you can also tell Teacher Wei to advance or postpone it a few days.

As for undergraduates like Xu Qiu who are interns in their third year, even if they don't go to the laboratory to do experiments during the summer vacation, it is still possible.

But he finally decided to only have two weeks of summer vacation and arrange his vacation according to the time of the laboratory.

…………

After the exam, Xu Qiu rested in the dormitory for a few days.

During this period, he suspended the use of the simulation laboratory.

Although the simulation laboratory is more convenient, judging from its current functions, the cost performance of spending points here is still a bit low.

It's better to wait until the permission level is increased, and then use the points after unlocking new functions.

On July 15th, Tuesday, Xu Qiu returned to the laboratory.

In the laboratory, Duan Yun was still working hard to write a thesis, Wu Feifei started experimenting after the thesis was delivered, and Chen Wanqing was also working on PTB7-TH-based devices.

The two glove boxes became busy.

Fortunately, Xu Qiu is currently planning to work on a flexible substrate project, and needs to solve the problem of ITO etching first, so there is no need to use a glove box for the time being.

Xu Qiu, the exam is over, how did you do? Chen Wanqing said.

It's not bad, the grade point should not change much this semester, Xu Qiu said, How about senior sister, is the recent experiment going well?

Thanks to your reminder, the efficiency of devices based on PTB7-TH can already reach 10%, Chen Wanqing said:

Recently, I'm thinking about how to come up with something new. After all, this system has been reported many times by researchers, and the 10% efficiency alone can't publish articles.

At the group meeting yesterday, Wu Feifei was doing a literature report. I came up with an idea, which is to combine her perovskite material with mine. I don’t think anyone else has done this. After all, perovskite materials It has only just emerged.

But I haven't found a suitable entry point yet, do you have any ideas? Chen Wanqing looked expectant.

Why do you ask me, I have never made perovskite. Xu Qiu couldn't laugh or cry.

The spraying method of P3HT, the thermal coating method and additives of PTB7-TH were all based on your idea. Chen Wanqing said.

So you just want to try your luck with me? Xu Qiu said.

Yeah. Chen Wanqing nodded.

Okay, let me think about it.

Xu Qiu had a bit of a headache. The previous two times, one was obtained by the fifth-order deduction of the system. Opinion.

However, he still thinks seriously. Organic photovoltaic devices are mainly composed of electrodes, transport layers, and effective layers. The newly added perovskite materials are definitely not used as electrodes, so they are used as transport layers or effective layers.

Thinking of this, Xu Qiu asked: Is the perovskite material used as a transport layer or an effective layer?

Of course it is effective... Chen Wanqing paused for a moment, then suddenly said: Yes, you can use perovskite as the transmission layer, and find a perovskite material with a wide bandgap width, which basically does not absorb visible light.

Student, your idea is good. I'll discuss it with Wu Feifei later. Chen Wanqing said excitedly.

I just mentioned it casually. Xu Qiu said with some embarrassment.

Seeing that the senior was immersed in the inspiration he just got, he took the initiative to resign: Come on, senior, I'm going to try etching a PEN substrate.

Okay, go get busy.

…………

Entering the laboratory, Xu Qiu first took out a whole roll of PEN substrate.

Then use the ITO glass substrate as a template to cut out more than a dozen PEN substrates with the same size as the glass substrate.

After tearing off the protective film on the PEN substrate, it can be seen that there is a layer of ITO film with blue-purple luster on the surface.

The next question is how to get a specific ITO pattern.

The etchant is indiscriminate attack, so if you want to obtain a specific pattern, you must protect part of the ITO.

The first method Xu Qiu thought of was to stick the pattern part with adhesive tape, and then soak the substrate in the etching solution.

He went to the toolbox and took out 3M electrical tape, sealing tape, and a milky white tape of an unknown brand, while double-sided tape, bubble glue, etc. were directly excluded.

Paste the three kinds of adhesive tapes on the cut out PEN substrate to make patterns.

Afterwards, Xu Qiu went to the reagent cabinet to take out concentrated hydrochloric acid and zinc powder, and came to the mini fume hood in the laboratory,

Open the exhaust system of the fume hood to prepare the etching solution.

The concentrated hydrochloric acid concentration of Sinopharm is 12 moles per liter, which needs to be diluted to 2 moles per liter, which is 2M, before it can be used.

This concentration does not need to be particularly accurate, so he directly took a disposable dropper for operation.

First absorb 2 milliliters of concentrated hydrochloric acid, add it to a centrifuge tube with a capacity of 20 milliliters, then slowly add 10 milliliters of deionized water dropwise, and mix well to obtain 2M diluted hydrochloric acid.

Then, Xu Qiu took out three disposable plastic cups, poured an appropriate amount of 2M dilute hydrochloric acid into them, and covered the bottom of the plastic cups.

He did not pour the zinc powder immediately, but first put the PEN substrate into a plastic cup, and the dilute hydrochloric acid was just enough to cover the substrate.

After waiting for a minute, Xu Qiu picked up a substrate and found that the ITO film on it was not etched.

During this process, there was no change in the three cups of solution.

It appears that it cannot be etched without the addition of zinc powder.

Xu Qiu put the substrate back into the cups, and then poured two spoonfuls of zinc powder into each cup.

When zinc powder encounters hydrochloric acid, it reacts immediately to generate hydrogen gas, and a large number of bubbles emerge.

At the same time, the smell of hydrogen chloride molecules in hydrochloric acid also came out, and Xu Qiu hurriedly pulled down the door of the fume hood after smelling it.

After two minutes, the reaction had almost stopped and no more bubbles were produced in the cup.

Xu Qiu opened the fume hood again and rinsed the PEN substrate with a deionized water washing bottle.

However, he found that part of the tape had come off, and hydrochloric acid had penetrated into the tape area, causing the ITO protected under the tape to be etched.

In comparison, 3M electrical tape has the strongest protective ability, but some acid still seeps in.

Experiment failed.
