I have a Synthesizer

#16 - A different train

Occasionally, ordinary pedestrians would enter and exit, most of whom were dressed in bright and fashionable clothes.

The men mostly wore neat work clothes, while many of the women wore portable dresses, which looked very different from the clothes of ordinary people.

"Magical Power Train."

Mira pointed to the front and called out excitedly.

Klein followed her gaze and saw a very mechanized locomotive parked there.

The front of the car was almost entirely made of iron, with two carriages attached behind it, looking like a train, but without rails.

This wasn't new to Klein. This kind of transportation was mentioned in books, and he had seen many trains.

"Is this the technological product of this world? Something between a train and a car?"

Although he had many guesses in his mind, Klein didn't say them out loud.

His face still maintained a naive and curious look as he looked at the train.

Katie looked at the three excited people and said with a smile.

"Hehe, this is probably the first time you've seen the real thing. The Magical Power Train is a miracle product after the Cataclysm."

"Its main structure imitates something called a train from before the Cataclysm."

"The main power source is the Magic-conducting Booster developed by the Royal Academy of Sciences."

"Its power can rival a Fourth-Order Mountain Eye, and as long as there is enough energy, it can run almost non-stop."

"We also tried to lay rails like trains, but they were always destroyed by magical beasts, so we had to give up."

"After several modifications, we finally combined some new things from the New Era to transform the train."

"The allocation of earth-type mages as conductors is what made it possible for the train, this fast, safe, and stable civilian transportation tool, to reappear."

"Each train is accompanied by 10 official military professionals, which is the guarantee for the stable operation of the train."

"Because the cost of construction is very high, and the operating cost is even higher, the fare is very expensive."

"For a short trip like yours to the Imperial Capital, the fare is as high as 11 Thales and 45 Rila."

"Most of the people who take the train are merchants or people with higher incomes."

Katie said a lot, which was rare, and Klein listened carefully.

Trains, relics from before the Cataclysm, he kept these things firmly in mind, whether he could use them or not, he didn't know.

"Train No. 19 to the Imperial Capital arrives at about 3 o'clock. Children, these are your tickets. Be careful on the way."

Katie handed the three tickets to the three of them respectively and hugged them one by one.

"Klein, take good care of yourself."

"I will, Mom."

… …

"Joe, good luck."

"Yeah!"

… …

"Mira, don't run, come and hug me."

"Okay, I'm not a child anymore."

… …

"Okay, you're all adults, I won't say anymore, go."

Klein and the others waved to Katie and boarded the train to the Imperial Capital under Katie's gaze.

After boarding the train, the three found their seats.

They were seats 9-1, 9-2, and 9-3. The three sat in a row, with Mira sitting on the inside and Klein sitting on the outside.

What embarrassed Klein was that his luggage was a bit heavy, and the luggage storage area was above the carriage.

Such a big box, with his weak physique, was very difficult to lift.

Looking at Mira, this little sister was completely blind to his plea for help.

Klein was helpless and could only ask the taciturn fourth brother next to him for help.

Panting, he put the luggage on the rack on the roof. Klein quickly slumped on the seat and rubbed a cup of water for himself to drink.

After a little rest, he began to carefully observe the carriage.

Unlike the train exclusively for the rich and merchants that he imagined, the carriage of this train had almost no comfort.

The seats were hard, and there were iron railings on both sides of the seats.

The windows were also made of iron, which could be pushed up or pulled down to completely block them. When pulled down, they looked like bunker windows.

Behind each seat, there was also a shield that could be taken down and used at any time.

The entire train focused on safety and defense, and there was almost no comfort to speak of.

This extreme increase in defense facilities was enough to show how bad the safety of the train was in the suburbs.

Klein could still feel the hole on the handrail on his right, which should have been caused by some attack. Even the iron handrail was pierced, but it had not been repaired yet.

At the front and rear of the carriage stood a soldier of the Imperial Army, but he couldn't tell what rank they were.

Klein had a hunch that this journey might not be very safe and beautiful.

The train stopped for 20 minutes, and Joe was already bored enough to start sleeping.

Mira took out a book to read. Judging from the cover, it should be a book about the Imperial Academy entrance exam.

Compared to them, Klein seemed a little idle.

He didn't use magic to synthesize items today. He was much more cautious than before.

In Klein's mind, the journey to the Imperial Capital was equivalent to leaving the safe zone and leaving the protection of his powerful mother, Katie.

There might be magical beast attacks and other things in the suburbs, and he had to save every bit of strength.

… …

Klein touched the pendant on his chest and checked his cane.

The cane was not a magic wand, nor a crutch, but was made by Klein looking for a carpenter.

He hid the blade inside for self-defense.

"Hey! Excuse me, 10-3, is this here?"

While Klein was checking his equipment, a girl of his age sat across from him.

She had seaweed-green hair, curled into two fluffy braids, and a smile full of youthful vigor on her face.

The girl's skin was very fair, and her figure was also curvy. The beige dress made people feel very approachable.

Klein raised his eyebrows when he saw the girl. He was a little surprised that a beautiful girl of the same age could sit opposite him, and he thought to himself.

"It's really pleasing to the eye."

The girl opposite suddenly patted Klein's arm and said.

"Um, sir, can you help me put my luggage up?"

Joe squinted and continued to sleep. Mira also heard the movement and turned her gaze over. She frowned slightly after seeing the green-haired girl, and then turned her head back.

Beautiful appearance, pleasant voice, and a somewhat shy expression, pure and seductive.

Normal men would agree to this small request.

But when the words came out of Klein's mouth, they became.

"Of course... not."

Klein was originally going to say yes, but he looked at the girl's big box and then looked at his own 0.7 physique and 0.8 strength.

Thinking that he couldn't even lift his own box just now, alas, it's not that I don't want to help you, brother, but I really can't.

"Thank... uh? Sir, you...?"
