I have a Synthesizer

#327 - A transaction (modified)

Klein was a little surprised. It hadn't even been 24 hours since they took over the museum area, and a report was already out. Hozwart's efficiency was a bit high.

He opened the analysis report. The report clearly stated the possible causes of the arcane energy tide, its destructiveness, the scope of its spread, and the principles of its contraction.

Klein was somewhat amazed by the professionalism of the report. Many arcane mages were not specialized in ancient arcane arts. The professionalism of this report was such that even he couldn't find fault with it.

The last page of the report also clearly stated that the event had a 99% or higher probability of being a man-made event, and the only two possible candidates were Klein himself and Esmond.

Klein closed the analysis report and asked in surprise:

"Logical and convincing. The report is very professional, and the understanding of chaotic arcane energy is also correct. Truly remarkable. Who did this report?"

"I did it."

Annabella pointed to herself and then smiled, seemingly very satisfied with Klein's praise.

Klein was taken aback for a moment: "Miss Annabella actually understands chaotic arcane energy. That's quite unexpected."

"You are also very surprising, Mr. Klein. I originally guessed that the person who created that arcane energy tide was Esmond, but now it seems that the person who made such a big commotion seems to be you."

Klein knew that this Annabella was the one who forced Esmond away with a recording. He certainly wouldn't admit anything here.

Annabella said again:

"Don't worry, there's no recording, Mr. Klein. I won't treat you the way I treated Mr. Esmond. Whether you admit it or not, it doesn't really matter."

Klein nodded.

"Miss Annabella, what is your purpose in telling me all this? Can you be frank?"

"Eee hee hee hee!"

A strange laugh came from Annabella's mouth. Although Klein wasn't the type to judge people by their appearance, Annabella's laughter really sounded like a pig's squeal. It was too strange.

"Mr. Klein, the only fortunate thing this time is that there were no casualties. Otherwise, even if we agreed to the compensation process, the families of those deceased mages would not agree."

Klein nodded. It was indeed fortunate that there were no mass casualties.

"Miss Annabella, do you have any better suggestions for me?"

"Let's make a deal!"

"A deal? What kind of deal?"

"A deal about chaotic arcane energy!" Annabella squinted.

"Chaotic arcane energy? Heh heh, that's a very dangerous thing. I'm afraid no one in this world can truly master such a dangerous power."

After Klein finished speaking, he silently added in his heart, "Except for me."

"Yes, chaotic arcane energy is indeed a very dangerous power, but precisely because of its danger and extraordinary nature, we arcane practitioners want to obtain it even more!

Mr. Klein can trigger tides of chaotic arcane energy. You must have your own unique methods, right?

If you are willing to teach me how to induce chaotic arcane energy, then everything else is negotiable!"

Annabella's eyes were full of desire. Although Klein didn't know what she needed chaotic arcane energy for, seeing her like this, he knew that she was determined to get it.

"It seems that Miss Annabella is determined to get chaotic arcane energy? Making a deal with me like this has some implications of coercion.

Moreover, what about the matters of Hozwart? Aren't you going to take care of them?"

Klein just asked casually, but Annabella gave him a very unexpected answer.

"You think I want to manage Hozwart's affairs? If Adolf had the ability to deal with your father, Esmond, then I wouldn't have had the chance to intervene in Hozwart's affairs at all.

He is the headmaster of Hozwart. These things should actually be his own concern. I don't get any benefits, so why should I care so much?

Compared to Hozwart receiving compensation, I would rather reach a deal with you. Not only can I guarantee your personal safety, but I can also make a copy of all the arcane insights I have accumulated over the years for you. What do you think of this condition?"

All of the arcane insights! Compared to those empty promises, Klein was more interested in this set of arcane insights.

It wasn't easy to encounter someone who understood chaotic arcane energy. Klein still very much hoped to have some exchanges with her. There were too few people who practiced ancient arcane arts.

The few people Klein knew who practiced ancient arcane arts were all impossible to communicate with. One was the unknown chairman of the Skull Society, with whom he currently had a life-or-death relationship.

There was also Herman of the Mystical Fang, whom Klein didn't know at all. The third was his father, Esmond. Needless to say, talking to him would just be a charade of fatherly love and filial piety. Klein couldn't possibly ask.

So, he basically had no communication on the arcane arts and relied entirely on his own guesswork. Now that he had encountered the fourth, Annabella, this was an opportunity for Klein to make up for some of his shortcomings in arcane knowledge.

Although Klein was already inclined to make a deal, he wasn't going to easily agree.

"I am very interested in your arcane insights, but do you have any other conditions? It's best to say them all at once now."

Annabella's eyes flickered, and she said in a low voice:

"If possible, I would like to witness the effect of artificially creating chaotic arcane energy!"

"Pleasant cooperation, Miss Annabella."

The two shook hands. Although Annabella's palm was chubby, Klein felt a metallic texture when he held it.

"Magic Golden Pig - Annabella! Does that mean a metallic pig?"

As Klein muttered, Annabella suddenly asked:

"Mr. Klein, there is one thing I have never understood. Based on my understanding of arcane energy, I know that once a mage is invaded by chaotic arcane energy, if they are not a very powerful arcane mage themselves, it is almost hopeless.

At best, the magic pool is destroyed, and at worst, they die. There are no possible exceptions. Under such a large arcane tide, it is even more impossible for anyone to survive. How did those mages swallowed by the arcane tide survive?"

Klein couldn't explain Annabella's question in detail, but based on Edward's rejuvenation after extracting the Threads of Time, and the feedback of vitality after he absorbed the Threads of Time, he guessed some of the reasons.

"It's too difficult to explain. You can understand it as being caused by Her Majesty."

Since he couldn't explain it, Klein simply chose not to explain and put the blame on the Empress. That was naturally the best choice.

Annabella wasn't actually satisfied with Klein's answer, but she didn't continue to ask.

"Is it Her Majesty the Empress? That is truly an unattainable existence!"

Klein very much agreed with her point of view. He thought to himself:

"Yes, the person who uses the Threads of Time as a hair tie, the person whom the Blue King Edward doesn't even dare to meet, is indeed an unattainable existence!"

Annabella asked again:

"Let me arrange the security report for this time."

Klein suddenly interrupted her.

"Wait, you can add some interjections to the content of the report, such as 'shocking!' 'unbelievable!' or something like that."

Annabella was a little puzzled. What special effect did such interjections have? A code?

Looking at Annabella's puzzled expression, Klein finally shook his head.

"Forget it, I'll write the little essay myself!"
