I Make Games To Scare Crying Players

: Dark Forest Plot Outline

   This chapter is free.

In the group, seven or eight readers chatted with me privately, asking me to release the outline.

I thought about it for a while. Although this book can’t be written for some reason, then I will release the plot setting of the VR version of "Dark Forest" to everyone. It can be regarded as a beginning and an end.

-

Those who have read the previous article know that the VR version of "Dark Forest" incorporates the setting of 4000 Forbidden Forest.

That is, creatures, places, buildings, etc. in the forest cannot be named specifically, but can only be described, and cannot be described twice, otherwise it is also counted as naming.

Once it is regarded as naming, there will be extremely terrible dangers.

That's why in the prologue, the doctor used the terms 'east', 'forest', 'place with oil', 'strange area', 'damned forest', 'weird forest' to describe a certain place .

When the werewolves address the protagonist, they also use one-time descriptions such as 'bastard lean meat', 'bastard from the government', and 'little lean meat'.

In addition, in the VR chapter of "Dark Forest", a new mysterious organization will surface.

  —Chaos Insurgency.

The word Chaos Insurgency first appeared in the chapter "Control Invalidation". It was casually mentioned by the No. 2 protagonist of the parallel world when he left a message to the real protagonist through the "old AI" to clear the human race from FBC, and then it became known to the players.

  Original text:

‘Afterwards, the incident in the Oldest House subsided, and neither the director nor the Supreme Council explained the matter. We privately believe that the group of people who committed suicide and left their jobs were undercover agents placed by the Bureau's opponents, the Chaos Insurgency, only to be caught and executed by the Director. '

At this time, the players don't know exactly what organization the Chaos Insurgency is, they only know that it is the opponent of the Control Bureau.

Then, in the DLC "Secret Laboratory", the Chaos Insurgency once again came into the public eye. Players can play the Chaos Insurgency to fight against the security guards and anomalies.

But still don't know what this organization is.

It wasn't until the release of the VR version of "Dark Forest" that this organization was truly known to players.

When I was writing the text, I buried a few pits.

That is, the protagonist has lost his memory and does not know who he is.

But the strange thing is that in the prologue, "Mr. Jun" knew the protagonist, and said in a strange way of death that the protagonist would suffer retribution.

  Original text:

[Then how do you escape from here.]

[Do you think this forest can be done by yourself]

  [You will be punished]

  [You will pay the price.]-

Then, the first NPC werewolf encountered at the end of the prologue actually knew the protagonist, and said that the things the protagonist had done were enough for him to eat the protagonist alive.

  Original text:

  [Of course I know you]

  [You know me too.]

The werewolf pointed to the wolf-shaped face under the hood, grinning and dripping sticky saliva.

[The me before I knew this look hehehehe.]

The werewolf continued to observe the protagonist.

[According to what you have done before, I should eat your embarrassing lean meat.]

[But look at you walking dead now. It’s pathetic. I really don’t have any appetite.]

[You should be thankful. Asshole from the government.]-

Judging from these two points, in the game, are there other NPCs who know the protagonist?

   The answer is correct.

Not only that, but many more.

So why do so many people in the forest know the protagonist?

  Who is the protagonist?

Let's see how the doctor in the prologue evaluates the protagonist.

  Original text:

[It turns out that the government already knew about the situation inside]

[You have connected the entire 'forest' with tunnels. You can even enter and exit freely and have established secret entrances and strongholds.]

As he spoke, during the real-time calculation, the village doctor took out the No. 21 key that he had found from the protagonist, and stretched it over.

[You are watching us. You are watching us.]

[You indifferently watched us get infected and watched us mutate and then die in pain]

[You want to study this 'strange area'. So treat us as a living experiment.]

[You obviously have the ability to save us. But you don’t.]

[You guys really deserve to die! ]-

In summary, most readers may think that the protagonist is a government employee, but in fact he is not.

In Chapter 197, The Unnameable Forest, it is clearly stated that the people who entered the forest were people from the FBC Federal Bureau of Control.

  Original text:

FBC immediately took responsibility from the small country and began to send agents to investigate on the ground, but it turned out that they all lost contact.

Considering the quality of agents, the second investigation operation was changed to the entry of Mobile Task Force Zeta-9 'Mole'.

However, it was discovered that the mutated towering trees formed a high wall that could not be entered.

The helicopter also failed mechanically due to magnetic field confusion and could not deliver people at high altitude.

Finally, the FBC had no choice but to dig tunnels into the forest for investigation.

Here we meet the crucial 'Underground Passage No. 21' in the game.

-

Then why do the NPCs in the forest say that the main character is someone 'from the government'?

Fucking players and readers really thought the main character was a government agent.

Actually, this is written to limit the knowledge of forest NPCs.

They don't know what the Bureau is, they only know that the protagonist is an official person.

Officials are generally people from the government.

So, in the prologue, the NPCs who know the protagonist all call the protagonist "a person from the government".

Actually, the protagonist is someone from the Control Bureau.

-

Then the problem comes again, in the one hundred and ninety-seventh chapter of the forest that cannot be named.

There are only three groups of people who explicitly mentioned entering the forest.

The first group, the agents of the Control Bureau, lost contact.

The second batch, the Mole Squad, still lost contact.

The third batch, the investigation team headed by the protagonist, only the protagonist with amnesia remained.

Since there are only forest natives and Bureau of Control people in the forest, what role does the Chaos Insurgency play in this chapter?

Before analyzing the Chaos Insurgency, let’s take a look at the original text of the real machine demonstration of the Dark Forest in Chapter 206:

  [We are trapped...by this forest...]

[We lost contact with the outside world...no one responded...]

[Everyone else is dying...becoming the nourishment of the tree...]

[In the end I was left alone...alone...]

  [But...not long...the dead came back...]-

The original text above is the protagonist's own tone.

Then it can be known that the investigation team of the protagonist is dead, and resurrected after death, and came back to find the protagonist.

Combined with the prologue, the protagonist was injured and fell into a coma in the forest, but was rescued by a doctor.

Can it be understood that the dead teammate came back to find the protagonist, the protagonist ran for his life, and finally injured and exhausted fell into a coma in the forest, and was rescued by the doctor in the prologue by accident, and the game began.

-

It's very strange, why the protagonist's team came back to find the protagonist after they died? Did the main character do something?

Why do so many NPCs in the forest know the protagonist?

What are the Chaos Insurgency doing inside?

Now, let me reveal to you what the protagonist does in the VR chapter of "Dark Forest".

In the setting of this article, the protagonist is a spy placed in the Control Bureau by the Chaos Insurgency.

Like Dr. Maynard and Security Skinner in Out of Control.

So, an investigation team, the main character is the Chaos Insurgency, and the others are all from the Control Bureau.

Would the main character do nothing?

Therefore, only the protagonist is left in the investigation team, and everyone else is dead.

Then what method did the protagonist use to kill the rest of the team?

It's very simple, using the feature of the forest's 'unable to be named', let the team members trigger the death mechanism one by one because of naming.

The question is coming again, how does the protagonist know the characteristic of the forest that cannot be named?

  Who told him?

This is thanks to the personal experience of the mole team.

As the second batch of people entering the forest, the mole team has a total of 6 people.

During the exploration process, with the sacrifice of one team member after another, the C-1 captain finally understood the characteristics of the forest.

But the truth they discovered could never be communicated to the outside Control Bureau.

Because the mole team will eventually all die in the forest and turn into houses and furniture, allowing players to experience this despair in person through side missions.

So, the protagonist learned the characteristics and secrets of the forest from the camera records of the mole team, and then used them to kill the members of his team.

Then, as the first person in the entire forest to know the feature of 'cannot be named', the protagonist started his work as a Chaos Splitter.

As a behind-the-scenes person, he secretly monitored the forest residents, encouraged them to make trouble, and turned them into monsters step by step.

for example:

The doctor was kicked out of the village by the villagers, and it was the protagonist who secretly manipulated it.

Ms. Qiao's bloated mutation was also caused by the protagonist's use of the feature of 'cannot be named', and then blamed the doctor.

Mr. Jun went out of the village alone to find a doctor to settle accounts for Ms. Qiao, which was also instigated by the protagonist.

The werewolf was originally a hunter and the husband of Ms. Qiao, but because of the protagonist's use of characteristics, he became a werewolf after death.

So, why do so many NPCs know the main character?

Because the protagonist has been secretly manipulating their life and death before the game starts, that is, before the amnesia.

In this way, everything went smoothly.

Unexpectedly, the investigation team that was originally killed was revived after death because of a spore in the forest, and came back to seek the protagonist to pay for his life.

During the escape process, the protagonist was hit **** the head and seriously injured. He fell into a coma on the prologue map and was rescued by the doctor.

The doctor originally wanted to save someone, but found the diary and key on the protagonist.

Understand that he and the entire forest dweller have been being monitored and become the experimental subjects of the outside world.

He was angry, and directly injected the protagonist with a drug developed by some spores, and left with the key.

After the protagonist is injected with this medicine, and the forest can invade the mind, he begins to frequently have horrible hallucinations.

In this way, while searching for his own memory, the protagonist discovers what he did and the truth of the forest mutation during the process.

Finally, according to the player's choice, the protagonist can use a flamethrower to burn the alien life forms in the forest, start a fire, burn everything, and atone for himself.

Or never sleep forever in the dreamland woven by the forest.

And there are two easter eggs in the game.

   Easter egg one:

That is, when the protagonist is doing the side quest 'Wedding', he will meet an NPC policeman, Ellis.

I learned that Ellis and his colleagues were looking for a missing child in the forest, and learned an urban legend about the forest witch.

This led to the horror game "Blair Witch".

That is to say, the forest in "Blair Witch" is the same place as "Dark Forest".

   Easter egg 2:

During the process, the protagonist will receive a call from a man named Dwayne.

This person is the protagonist of "Face".

Dwayne said that he hated the protagonist, why he couldn't think about joining the Chaos Insurgency with the protagonist.

Caused himself to harm a small town named Riversdale, and caused countless happy families to be destroyed.

And now, I was also arranged into that house by the Chaos Insurgency, and finally couldn't bear the pressure and dragged my family to die together.

The protagonist is very scary, because after losing his memory, he doesn't know this person named Devine at all.

And listening to the phone, this guy named Dwyane seems to be dead?

At this time, the player understands why the FBC organization, which was clearly established for the continuation of mankind, would commit such heinous human experiments in "Face".

After working on it for a long time, it turned out that it was not the Control Bureau, but the opponent of the Control Bureau, the Chaos Insurgency did it!

The protagonist of "Face" is not a scientific researcher of the Control Bureau, but a member of the Chaos Insurgency.

   Now, the explanation makes sense.

-

The above is the plot flow and setting of the VR version of "Dark Forest".

I'm really sorry, because of some mysterious power, this book can't be written for the time being.

Really sorry!

I will summarize the experience and lessons in the new book to avoid such things from happening.

I hope readers old and new can support the new book.
