21 – 4. Miracle?

The sword was shining brightly.

This is definitely not my fault. It really shines like a normal torch, illuminating the surroundings.

There are two reasons for a sword to shine like this.

Receiving a real-time buff called a blessing or showing an illusion through magic.

“That guy, the sword…… ?”

“Is it really a blessing? “I’ve never seen anything that bright.”

“You idiots! Even if you were blessed, would it shine like that? “There are no saints in the village, and it’s clearly just a shell of magic that has no real effect!”

The thieves were not afraid of the sight and approached me.

I, too, have never seen a blessing of this kind of power while traveling through countless battlefields. However, the warm and sacred feeling I felt in my hands was real, even if it was just a trick to make it shine.

I turned my gaze towards the priest who was diligently piercing the thieves’ heads with magic on the wooden fence.

Similarly, the priest who saw my sword shining started waving and shaking his head when I nodded.

Is it humility? Not only is his magic skill great, but his personality is also great.

“Take down the knight. “I can kill you just by knocking you off your horse!”

“If you want to try it.”

Sancho kicked the ground. I stretched out my sword and thought about how I should cut it so that word of mouth would spread that I had made a good cut.

Unless you wanted to be trampled by the overwhelming weight, there was no way you would stand in front of a running horse. So the thieves were waiting around with long poles or spears.

If everyone created a wall made of spears, it would look quite threatening, but even if there were some mercenaries mixed in, you couldn’t expect that level from the thieves.

Then, as a relatively safe and cheap strategy, I had to dig up the ground to break the horse’s legs, but they didn’t know I was in the village.

The only way left is to push me hard or attack Sancho and surprise him to make him drop me.

“I wonder if that will work.”

“Kwaaak!”

A thief that Sancho was unable to avoid caused a car accident.

I ate a lot, but this is why I took Sancho with me. Not only did he not feel fear very often, but he was also of a large weight class, so even if he rushed at him without a weapon, it was a huge threat in itself.

But I couldn’t let the horse take all the credit.

I lowered my sword and swung it towards the thief who had his back to me. Since he was well-armed, the plan was to accumulate injuries rather than take him down with one blow.

But.

“You can only pierce armor that much, huh…” … !”

“…… Oh.”

Even though the blade that was thrust towards the neck did not penetrate a gap in the weak defense, it came out the other side without much resistance.

Could it be that I couldn’t reach it at all because I miscalculated the distance? I had such suspicions that I slightly turned my head just as I was passing by the thief, and saw his headless body fall.

The sword divided the enemy safely. No, rather, it seemed like the range was slightly longer.

Originally, I only planned to leave a scar on the nape of the neck, but it was cut off entirely.

I decided to let go of the cavalry pride that was filling my heart for a moment.

Of course, there is still no denying that knights have the trust of the battlefield, but excellent wizards also deserve to be in that position, even if they are not cavalrymen.

“It’s not much of a blow… ….”

“What is it? “What did you see?”

“If you don’t know, keep your mouth shut. “f*ck, I never meant to do something like this in the first place.”

I slowly increased my speed and experimented with the bandits around me a few times. It was about how much the range of the sword increased beyond what was visible.

After adjusting the distance and swinging it several times, I was able to see that the light emitted by the sword was clear.

Although the length of the sword is actually increased, it does not feel as much weight and there is no strong recoil, which is a disadvantage of long weapons.

It’s difficult to learn, but magic is definitely great if you learn it well. Will Lisia one day be able to do something like this?

A few heads flew through the sky along my path. Some of the thieves, seeing their well-dressed colleagues fall one by one with a single blow, quietly retreated.

However, those who did not have the presence of mind to watch everything at the scene of the battle still blocked my path, and I, with more confidence than before, turned my head towards the bandits swarming near the door.

“The knight is coming again!”

“Calm down, you just have to get rid of him. “Think of the treasures within this town!”

“Those with spears, go forward! “If you’ve heard me just wait, everyone come forward!”

The bandit who first spoke to the village had been encouraging the bandits fighting nearby.

Some people grumbled at the instructions, but somehow followed them, which seemed to show that they had their own leadership skills. So, he would be their leader or in a similar position.

If I had remained a mercenary, it would have been a talent that could have been put to good use.

Maybe he was in charge of an executive position when he was a mercenary. Since he is using it like that, it may be a talent that needs to be defeated in this place.

I also wanted to end it here.

No battle ends when everyone is killed. The end of a battle is when it breaks your morale and makes you realize that even the spoils of victory are worthless compared to your life.

Now that the distance was close, I could hear what the thieves were saying and see their faces.

“I have already suffered a huge loss. So, it ends here!”

“Please, just…” … !”

I silently lifted the reins slightly and swung my sword for a long time.

The naive mind that believed that the person beyond the long window would not be within the range of the attack was cut down along the path.

As the mouths that instilled rewards and goals were silenced, the bandits began to collapse as they lost a stable means of supplying and receiving the will to fight.

Some ran away, but only those with injuries that made it impossible were left groaning with their faces on the ground.

By the time the sun rose, things were almost over.

After watching the remaining guards lock up the still-living bandits in an empty warehouse and drag them away, I returned to the village.

Fortunately, even though the door was opened, the thieves did not enter the village.

Of course, some may have crossed over, but it seemed like they were dealt with by the guards waiting in front.

I went to the church just in case, and when I heard that the situation was over, I was able to find Lisia among the people rushing out.

“What happened?”

“Yes, you told me to hide safely, right?”

I thought you were sleeping when you said that, but I guess you were awake.

Anyway, I was glad that nothing seemed to have happened.

“Yes, good job. But it may still be dangerous, so go back in.”

“Yes.”

It wasn’t a scene that would be safe for a child to see, so Licia sent it back to the church room.

In the meantime, I tied Sancho back in front of the church and went to clean up the battle scene. I made sure the girl was okay, now it was time to get the loot.

Loots are loot, but I also have to deal with bodies scattered around, so I was wondering where to move them.

The priest who was healing the wounded called me.

“Ah, Father.”

“Thank you for your hard work. What would have happened if you weren’t there…….”

“I owe a lot to the priest’s blessing. “He has been around many battlefields, but this is the first time he has seen such power.”

When the battle was over, the shining sword returned to its original state.

The subtle feeling of omnipotence that I felt when I held the handle had disappeared everywhere, but the blood there was real.

However, what the priest said after hearing me was not humility or boastfulness, but complete denial.

“That’s… “It’s not a blessing I gave.”

“What do you mean? Is there anyone else in this town who is a wizard other than the priest? ….”

“That makes me even more suspicious. There’s no way you can’t tell the difference between the magic I cast and the magic I didn’t cast. “The blessing that fell on that sword is not mine.”

Then who on earth did it? I wondered if I had made a mistake, but even when I asked again, the answer I got was firm.

Rather than thinking about a problem for which there was no answer, the priest began to focus on other topics.

“The guy who is their leader has something.”

“If you are the boss… ….”

“It’s that guy lying over there. “Do you know?”

The priest pointed to the thief who was screaming at the door last night. He was a leader after all.

His head sensed danger, made an emergency ejection, and had already disappeared somewhere. Where did he leave his neck and why did he come only with his body? ….

“Take it.”

The priest took something out of his arms. It was a box with a round lid, and inside was a thin needle that was rotating.

I had a subtle feeling that I knew something even though I had never seen it somewhere before. Usually, when I feel this way, it is a memory from my past life. So what did they say about this? Oh yeah.

“Compass?”

Did this even happen in this era?
