Chapter 14: Ghost Market in the Spirit Realm (Seeking to Continue Reading~)

Just as Lin Xuanzhi stepped out of the gate, he noticed two large wooden boxes that hadn't been there before.

On each box was crudely written "Buy" and "Sell," and a white figure with a pale and bluish face, its tongue hanging three feet off the ground, stared at them.

"A hanging ghost?" Lin Xuanzhi's eyelid twitched.

But it was his first time seeing a ghost, so he didn't feel any fear.

If he had to evaluate it, it was not even half as scary as Chu Renmei Auntie!

Su Jincheng pursed his lips and nodded. "They are resentful spirits with cultivation."

Having traveled outside for two years, Su Jincheng had encountered all sorts of monsters and ghosts, so he naturally wasn't scared by this small scene.

However, several Independent Cultivators who were here for the first time were truly startled to see a hanging ghost guarding the entrance. Their faces turned pale, and they were on the verge of leaving in fear.

After throwing four spirit stones into the box, the hanging ghost nodded in satisfaction, then approached Lin Xuanzhi and Su Jincheng, circling them twice before finally sniffing Lin Xuanzhi and reluctantly leaving.

"I thought she was going to suck my yang energy," Lin Xuanzhi chuckled.

"In that case, your grandfather will have to pay a visit to the City God of Changning," Su Jincheng couldn't help but joke.

With the cultivation level of Lin Xuanzhi's grandfather, who was at the Divine Will stage, he could fly back and forth between the Divine Capital and Changning countless times in the time it takes to brew a cup of tea.

Looking around, Lin Xuanzhi saw that they had already arrived under the bright sky of the First Layer.

But what hung above wasn't the sun; it looked hazy and gray from a distance.

Besides the people who came out of the Half-Step Gate, there seemed to be another entrance in the distance.

"It's actually a small-scale Spirit Realm!" Lin Xuanzhi exclaimed after a moment of realization.

"How is it? Worth the trip, right?" Su Jincheng smiled.

As Lin Xuanzhi looked at the dispersing crowd and the quickly set up stalls, he couldn't help but become excited and started to browse around.

After roughly making a round, he nodded slightly. "It's actually the size of a village."

"And besides the Half-Step Gate, there are three other entrances to this place. Humans, demons, gods, and ghosts are all here. It's truly interesting."

Just after one round, Lin Xuanzhi saw a fox family that spoke human language, a black cat with two tails, a swan that came and went like the wind, as well as pure and solid spiritual ghosts and unknown deities with the scent of incense.

"What do you want to buy?" Lin Xuanzhi casually asked, surveying the stalls one by one.

Su Jincheng shook his head indifferently. "Let's see first. The main point is for you to experience it."

"What don't we have at home?"

"Oh, isn't this the Third Young Master of the Dingyuan Marquis and the Fifth Young Master of the Zhongyong Earl? How elegant of you both," an annoying voice came, and Lin Xuanzhi looked up to see the person with a smile on his face. "So it's the young master of General Qiu's family."

Su Jincheng only nodded slightly as a greeting.

Qiu Jingnan had a seemingly gentle smile on his face. "I didn't expect to meet you two here."

Lin Xuanzhi calmly smiled. "Yes, in life, we meet everywhere. It's fate."

"Qiu Xiong, why don't you introduce the people beside you?" Lin Xuanzhi asked.

Qiu Jingnan laughed heartily. "Of course."

He then gestured towards the middle-aged man in a dark green robe with a rough face and a beard in front of him. "This is Senior Witch Leopard, who is also my master."

Lin Xuanzhi's heart couldn't help but tremble, but fortunately, he still had control over his Jade Wheel and maintained a respectful expression. "So it's Senior Witch. I'm disrespectful!"

Witch Leopard chuckled and glanced at Lin Xuanzhi. "Oh? You're the fifth son of the Lin family? You do resemble your mother, one of the ten beauties of the Divine Capital. Not bad, not bad."

Qiu Jingnan timely introduced another man with a cold expression in a black robe. "This is my father's friend, Senior Sun Buqi."

Lin Xuanzhi greeted him again, and the man only nodded coldly.

"There's no need to introduce this one; everyone knows him," Lin Xuanzhi looked at the person who was obviously a follower and said with a smile.

The person Lin Xuanzhi referred to had a poker face. "Young Master Lin remembers me, which surprises me."

"Seeing you today, I find that you've become even more hideous," Lin Xuanzhi chuckled.

"You!" Yang Wenwu couldn't help but speak up.

At this moment, Qiu Jingnan laughed and said, "Would you two be interested in strolling around? With two seniors accompanying us, we might discover some good things."

Lin Xuanzhi smiled respectfully at Wu Changbao and said apologetically, "We won't disturb your enjoyment."

Qiu Jingnan seemed quite regretful and said, "Since that's the case, we'll meet again next time."

"Goodbye." Su Jincheng grabbed Lin Xuanzhi's head and walked away without looking back.

Upon seeing the two leave, Wu Changbao couldn't help but snort coldly and said, "That guy from the Marquis of Dingyuan's mansion really thinks highly of himself."

Sun Buqi's voice lowered as he said, "If your father is the Marquis of Dingyuan, then you think even less of others than he does."

"You!"

Suppressing the urge to curse, Wu Changbao walked ahead quickly.

On the other side, Lin Xuanzhi couldn't help but tease, "It's worthy of being from the Marquis's mansion. Both 'senior experts' were completely ignored."

Upon hearing this, Su Jincheng glanced at him lightly and secretly transmitted his voice, "I can tell if your laughter was genuine or fake. Don't think I can't."

"If you don't like them, why bother being polite to them?"

Lin Xuanzhi couldn't help but smile and said, "My mother is a county princess, and my grandmother is a grand princess. Even if they were here, I would still dare to ignore them."

Seeing that Su Jincheng was about to ask further, Lin Xuanzhi waved his hand and said, "Let's talk about it when we get back."

"Look at things, look at things~ Su Gongzi, are you paying today?"

Su Jincheng nodded helplessly, "It's up to you."

"Remember to pick something for Qingwei."

Unconsciously, the two of them arrived at a stall selling various fruits.

The fruits were neatly arranged in baskets made of willow branches, which looked quite beautiful.

The stall owner was a fox-eared woman with a fluffy yellow tail.

"Fellow Daoists, would you like to taste our special mountain fruits?"

"Although they are not real spiritual fruits, they still contain a trace of spiritual energy. They are good for quenching thirst and tasting. They can also replenish some spiritual power."

Seeing someone approaching, the fox woman quickly greeted them with a smile.

In order to show benevolence and love, the Great Zhou Dynasty did not exterminate all the different beings and spirits within its borders as long as they followed the rules and laws.

At least that was the official stance.

"Although she hasn't completely transformed, she's probably an Aperture Entering spirit fox."

Under the enthusiastic invitation of the fox woman, Lin Xuanzhi tasted one and found that it tasted really good.

"Fellow Daoist, how much are your fruits?"

Seeing the potential buyer, the fox woman's smile became even more charming. "Two spirit stones for a basket."

"They are all fruits of the season. If you miss today, Fellow Daoist will have to wait until next spring."

Lin Xuanzhi thought of his family and couldn't help but ask, "How many do you have here?"

"Twenty-four baskets, each with twenty fruits, and there are several kinds."

Lin Xuanzhi waved his hand and said, "I'll take them all. Third Brother will pay."

Su Jincheng took out forty-eight spirit stones and handed them to the fox woman, and only then did Lin Xuanzhi collect the fruits.

Then, the fox woman took out various herbs and placed them on the stall. Lin Xuanzhi was taken aback, "You also sell medicine?"

The fox woman smiled and touched her temple. "Fellow Daoist, you don't know. It costs twenty spirit stones to set up a stall in this ghost market. I have to try to make more money."

"Would you like to take a look at what else you need?"

Lin Xuanzhi glanced at it and found that they were all common goods, and the years were also relatively young. The oldest ginseng was less than three hundred years old.

So he shook his head and asked, "Do you know if there is a stall selling books or booklets around here?"

The fox woman sighed with regret and said, "There is. Fellow Daoists, if you go east and get close to the edge of the spiritual realm, there is a person wearing a gray robe with patches. He sells books all year round."

Lin Xuanzhi and Su Jincheng thanked the fox woman and walked along the way. They passed by many stalls and saw a variety of items, but nothing really caught their attention.

As Su Jincheng had said, what didn't they have at home?

They came here just to join in the fun and try their luck.
