Marvel's The Force Awakens

Chapter 10: Missing

Peter did not see Mary again for the rest of the weekend.

On Monday morning, Peter saw Mary at the school gate.He hesitated for a moment before going forward to say hello.Contrary to usual, Mary glanced at him and left directly without saying a word. This made Peter a little surprised, but at the same time it felt like it was all so natural.

After all, they are two completely different people, Peter thought mockingly.

And for the next few days, there was still no word between Mary and Peter.Even the number of meetings between the two parties has dropped to almost zero.Only Peter would sometimes see a trace of her when he left home in the morning.

Even Harry noticed something was wrong.

"What's wrong? Are you having a conflict with my fire-haired lady?"

"That's right. I haven't ignored me at all lately." Peter is still his old self, lying on the table reading his novel during class. "It's a little contradictory, but it's nothing."

"You can't do this." Harry continued to diligently take notes and stared at the table drawn by the teacher on the blackboard. "As a gentleman, you should take the initiative to apologize to her. There is no one like you who can feel sorry for yourself here alone."

"How can I feel sorry for myself?" Peter raised his head, slightly dissatisfied. "Besides, even if you want to apologize, you have to find a chance. I haven't even seen her figure a few times recently."

"Come on, no one can see how depressed you are. Besides, did you go to her class in person? Why would she suddenly appear in front of you if you didn't go to her? After all, they are in different classes, let alone her classroom. It's basically on another floor of the teaching building. It's not normal for you to hang out here so often, okay?" Harry glanced at Peter, his contempt welling up.

Peter snorted and agreed. He seemed to suddenly understand something.

However, Peter struggled for a long time and still did not go to apologize. On the one hand, it was because he was afraid that his compromise would make her fall into the abyss faster, but on the other hand, it was the little self-esteem in his heart that caused trouble.

I was right and she was wrong. Why should I apologize to her? This is what he thought in his heart.

Peter closed his eyes, concentrated, and raised his hand. A stone the size of a fist immediately flew up out of thin air, hovering four or five meters above the ground.Peter chuckled and moved his hand down.Following that gesture, the stone flew out at an astonishing speed and hit the wall more than 20 meters away, breaking into more than a dozen pieces.

Perhaps the quarrel that night fulfilled some conditions, and Peter's Force power began to surge at an alarming rate.Although this only lasted one night, he could still feel that the power in his body had grown by at least one-half.And under Peter's training, he quickly adapted to this new power.

To be honest, as long as Peter exposes his ability now, he will probably make national news headlines immediately, and it will be quite easy to get a lot of money. There are a lot of research institutes in the United States that are willing to pay millions of dollars for Peter.Of course, Peter may not be able to escape his fate as a guinea pig.

Peter became increasingly passionate about researching and training his abilities, spending almost all of his free time on it every day.And the awkward silence between him and Mary continued because of his inaction.

So when he heard the news about Mary, he was caught off guard and was so surprised that he couldn't speak for a while.

"Why didn't Mary come to class today?"

"It's not just like this. She didn't come to class yesterday. The teacher had already called home. Her father has no idea where she is."

"Is it true? Damn it, what happened? Why didn't I hear anything?"

"I haven't asked you yet" Harry said impatiently. "You are her friend and her neighbor. I heard the news earlier than you. I really don't understand what kind of awkwardness you are having."

Peter was suddenly speechless.

After the first class, Peter immediately went to the office and applied for early leave.Since it concerned Mary, he had to get involved. The teacher quickly approved this small request. As a top student, he still had this privilege.

After walking out of the school gate, Peter, who was carrying his schoolbag, was a little confused, but he quickly made a plan. There are no clues in hand, so we can only start at Mary's house.Mary's father should still be at home now.

Mary's father was once a security guard in a bar. He was shot three times during a fight that got out of control. He was very lucky, and all three shots were non-fatal. However, a subsequent surgical accident left him permanently lame and lost his ability.

After losing his job, he also began his life of drinking.Mary's mother soon left the family, but she did not take Mary with her.Originally, the government's relief funds and the hospital's huge compensation could still keep this dilapidated family going. But he threw most of the family's money into gambling and alcohol.

Mary hated her father, and Peter knew this very well.

Stopping in front of the door of Mary's house, Peter knocked on the door three times. After seeing that there was no movement inside the door, Peter knocked on the door three times again, but this time he banged with full strength.

After quite a while, there was still no sound of footsteps in the room.Peter frowned and tried the doorknob. To his surprise, the door was unlocked, and Peter entered the gloomy house.

There was a disgusting musty smell in the room, and there were several black patches on the ceiling. It looked like the house hadn't been cleaned in a long time.Peter took a few steps, and just when he thought Mary's father had gone out, he heard a noise from the kitchen.

Following the sound, Mary's father was lying on the ground, humming.I don't know if he fell down or if he simply slept here last night. However, judging from the strong smell of alcohol exuding from his body, both options are possible. He rubbed his eyes, saw Peter, and shouted immediately.

"Damn you vicious dogs, this is my house and you have no rights... Oh, you are... the kid next door." After finally realizing who the person in front of him was, Mary's father hit him Hatcher, visibly relaxed. "What's the matter?"

"Uncle, Mary didn't come to school today or yesterday. What happened to her?" Peter took a step back calmly, trying to make his expression as kind as possible.Peter had always lacked respect for the uncle in front of him, and the smell of alcohol coming from him was really uncomfortable.

"Mary...I'm not very clear either." Mary's father patted his head and stood up. "Wait a minute, do you want some coffee? I'll make you a cup."

Peter quickly declined. He didn't dare drink from the cup in the house. "She hasn't come to school for two days. Nothing happened to her?"

"It's been two days." Mary's father showed a look of realization, but then quickly changed to indifferent expression. "I don't know either. That damn girl goes out and goes crazy all day long, and I can't control her. Her daughter is away from home half the time during the week."

"Then you're not worried at all?" There was already anger in Peter's heart. If it weren't for the man in front of him, Mary would definitely not be what she is now.

"Worry, worry." Mary's father took out an apple from the refrigerator and began to nibble on it. "I'll go to the police station to report the case tomorrow. It's a bit early now, and it's not yet 72 hours."

"Then can I go to Mary's room and take a look first? Maybe she left information about where she is going." Seeing that he couldn't find any useful information from Mary's father, Peter could only change his target.

"Oh, okay, go ahead. But keep your hands and feet clean. If you find something dropped in the room, I will settle the account with your parents." He waved his hand, and then froze for a moment. Standing up suddenly. "Wait a minute, how did you get into my house? Did you smash the glass? Damn it. If you smashed the glass in my house, I will peel off your skin."

"No, Dad Mary." Peter was a little dumbfounded. "Your door isn't locked at all."

"Oh, then lock it for me when you go out." He sat down and relaxed again.

Walking upstairs, Peter walked into Mary's room. The last time he came to the room was more than three years ago.At that time, their relationship was much better than it is now, and they were considered close friends. But I don't know since when, the distance between the two has become wider and wider.Peter sighed, Mary felt a little strange to him now.

The layout of the room was a little different from what he remembered. There was a bookshelf missing and a wardrobe added, but there weren't too many clothes in it.There were a pile of books and papers scattered on the floor of the room, including music scores, homework and textbooks. Her desk was surprisingly clean, with only a small pile of books and a few scattered small decorations.

Luckily Peter already knew what he was looking for, otherwise it would have taken hours just to look through the room.I searched all the desks and drawers, but found nothing.Peter then searched elsewhere in the room and finally found what he was looking for next to Mary's pillow.

This is a phone book, and the purple cover looks new.

Turning to the page that recorded the phone calls from Henry and a group of people, Peter finally let out a sigh of relief.
