Chapter 68 The Eve of Halloween
When he arrived at the Black Lake, Justin realized that the so-called "close to nature" meant catching leech.
As he frowned and moved away from Ryan, he complained dissatisfiedly: "What are you doing? Don't you know that I am disgusted with those slimy and slippery things?"
"I do think you should try to overcome this aversion." Ryan said, "The final exam in Potions class will most likely require you to touch slugs. You should know that if you dare not touch them, Snake Pu will be happy to give you a failing grade."
Justin's face turned bitter.
He looked at the dirt ground slowly, then frowned and stretched out his hand.
Ryan laughed. He stopped teasing Justin and waved his wand: "Here comes the leech."
Suddenly, leeches flew out of the inconspicuous mud, and Justin let out a scream.
Ryan turned the tip of his staff to let the leech fly into the prepared bottle, and then took Justin to the grass to catch some lacewings.
After returning to the dormitory, Justin watched Ryan throw the bottle under the bed, frowning and shaking his head.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asked.
"I don't know if I should admire you," Justin said. "I wouldn't dare sleep on a pile of bugs."
"Aren't they all in bottles?"
"Is this the key? The key is bugs. Think about it, if one or two escape out..." Justin shuddered as he spoke, as if he was frightened by his words.
"You have such a rich imagination." Ryan smiled, "Those are sealed bottles... Okay, okay, I'll take them outside later, is that okay?"
"Where are you going to take him?" Justin asked.
"This is a secret." Ryan pursed his lips and smiled, looking particularly mysterious.
"As long as you don't leave it in the dormitory!" Justin rolled his eyes at Ryan.
After saying hello to Justin, Ryan walked towards the eighth floor with the bottle and herbs.
He found a few dirty cauldrons from the room where things were hidden in the Room of Requirement, cleaned them up with a cleaning spell, and set up the pots in Ravenclaw's room.
It takes 21 days for lacewings to survive!
Ryan took out twelve lacewings from the bottle, threw them into one of the crucibles, and prepared several others in the same way.
He couldn't guarantee that he would succeed in the first attempt.
After making preparations for the Polyjuice Potion, Ryan left the Room of Requirement.
The castle is getting more and more festive, and wherever Ryan goes, he can hear the little wizards talking about Halloween.
Ryan laughed unconsciously, energetic children can always bring a good mood to others.
It's just that this year's Halloween is destined to not be so pleasant.
In the following days, Ryan lived a very peaceful life, which finally gave him a sense of peace that he had not seen for a long time.
During the fixed time confinement every day, Ryan picked up the liquid weed on the day of the full moon; went to classes at the Room of Requirement on the weekends; did homework and bragging and farting with the little wizards in his spare time.
It wasn't until Bach sent the Halloween gift along with the materials Lane requested that Lane realized that Halloween was just around the corner.
Bach prepared a vampire costume for Ryan and a large box of candy. In another wooden box, there were several reagent bottles wrapped in sponges and a dozen thermometers.
Ryan stuffed the material box under the bed before shaking off the vampire costume. He was a little dumbfounded and wanted to send a letter to his father to tell him that wizards were not into role-playing.
After sharing candies with the little wizards in the dormitory, Ryan and Justin walked out of the common room and immediately smelled the aroma of roasting pumpkin floating in the corridor.
"It seems that Hagrid has taken good care of the pumpkins." Justin sniffed, "I think we can see a full pumpkin feast today."
Justin guessed correctly. As soon as they entered the kitchen, they smelled a stronger pumpkin aroma.
The elves were busy processing the ridiculously large pumpkins, cutting them into pieces and sending them to the oven; of course, some of the elves were carving jack-o'-lanterns.
"Good morning, Mr. Franklin and Mr. Finlay." Barb bowed, "What do you want to eat?"
"Just milk and bread," Ryan said. "I have to save the surprise of pumpkin dishes until evening."
"No problem, sir." Babu directed an elf to get the food.
"Same here," Justin said. "I don't want to eat pumpkin all day long."
After breakfast, Ryan and Justin went to the Transfiguration classroom on the second floor.
For the first time, Professor McGonagall didn't teach anything new. She just asked everyone to review the knowledge of transformation they had learned before. She didn't even pay attention to the whispers of some young wizards.
The second class in the morning was Hufflepuff and Gryffindor's History of Magic. However, Ryan did not see Hermione during the class.
Ryan asked Neville to inquire, and sure enough, Gryffindor's first class was the Charms class.
Harry heard Ryan's voice behind him, and he finally couldn't help but push Ron.
"What are you doing?" Ron's voice was a little uncomfortable.
"I said, Ron..." Harry didn't know what to say.
Ron muttered with some dissatisfaction: "If you want to tell me about her, then forget it."
Ryan heard Ron's complaint, and he raised the corners of his mouth slightly - look, the big pig's hooves are there.
When school ended in the afternoon, Ryan didn't see Hermione.
"Aren't you going to find Granger?" Justin asked, "I think you care about her."
"I think this matter should be handed over to the person who needs to be responsible for her." Ryan had a faint smile on his lips.
"You're doing this again." Justin scratched his head, "I don't want to guess your riddles."
"Don't worry." Ryan narrowed his eyes slightly, "I think she also needs some quiet time."
Justin no longer discusses Hermione. For him, it has nothing to do with Hermione. Anyway, what big thing can happen in Hogwarts?
As soon as the dinner started, Justin threw all thoughts out of his mind. He looked at the ceiling decorated with pumpkins and bats and marveled. The delicious food on the table took away all his thoughts.
Ryan ate a piece of pumpkin pancake, took another sip of pumpkin juice, and stood up.
"Where are you going, Ryan?" Justin swallowed the pumpkin egg tart in his mouth and asked aloud.
"I need to go to the bathroom." Ryan replied.
It suddenly occurred to him that Hermione was indeed crying alone in the women's bathroom at this time. Then, as expected, trolls invaded. Harry and Ron went to rescue them, and the trio took shape. However, all this is the original timeline, and Ryan cannot guarantee that his arrival will not produce a butterfly effect.
He didn't want to see another "crying Granger" in Hogwarts.
"You are so rude." Justin frowned, "You should say..."
"I'm not going to admire the flowers." Ryan interrupted Justin, "Remember, no matter what happens later, don't come to me, and don't tell others that I left. If anyone asks, please tell me. Hit a screen."
Justin blinked in confusion and agreed.
Ryan walked out of the auditorium and into the foyer. He thought for a while and realized that the trouble with the troll was its skin's resistance to magic, but its IQ was extremely low. As long as there was no head-on conflict, and with his current strength, it should not fall over.
Hermione, a key figure, still needs to be kept safe.
Ryan sighed and tapped his head with his wand in the shadow:
"Disillusionment."
As he frowned and moved away from Ryan, he complained dissatisfiedly: "What are you doing? Don't you know that I am disgusted with those slimy and slippery things?"
