Chapter 350 Beetle and Fire
Rose and Nancy finally passed the first level. It was actually very simple. They just rushed through the beetle passage with their eyes closed.
But before they completely left the corridor, Rose looked back and saw that the entrance stone door at the end was closed.
The two people were at the other end of the corridor. At first, they had to worry about the beetles rushing over, but it didn't take long before they discovered something strange.
Taking a gap in the floor tiles at the end of the corridor as the decomposition line, all the bugs are stuck on the other side of the line. Occasionally, those who cross the line will be quickly pulled back and eaten by their compatriots. The most puzzling thing is that Beetles whose only job is to pull back the nematodes will also be eaten.
Their eyes were all looking in the direction of the two girls. People who have not experienced this scene would have a hard time imagining what it felt like to be stared at by countless bugs at the same time. The two of them had goosebumps all over their bodies at this time.
Nancy swallowed and raised a possibility with a trembling voice: "Tell me, if we turn around and go back now, will we be like those companions who were eaten by them..."
"Don't say such horrible things."
Rose crossed her arms and shivered: "I would rather starve to death here than go back."
After a few words of emotion, the two people continued to move towards the only passage.
"It's a pity that I carefully designed the level. The two of them look like two headless flies."
Margaery sat on the sofa and shook her head and sighed: "Actually, if you think about it for a moment, you will know that poisonous snakes usually protect food, while beetles must be afraid of predators."
"You take it for granted, Margaery."
Hermione struggled hard on Marn's lap, and finally found that she couldn't get up, so she simply lay down on the back of the sofa, crossed her legs and continued: "They think this is a level-breaking game, and you didn't give any hints. The most important thing is Yes, they haven’t gone to the other end of the Snake Tunnel to have a look, how could they have thought of this.”
"I think..." Esther said from the side: "These dung beetles may also be guarding food..."
"That's enough, Esther, we're going to have lunch soon, don't talk about such disgusting things." Hermione said with a look of rejection.
Esther shrugged: "Okay."
The two girls here are sitting in a small round hall behind the end of the corridor to rest. They are not tired, they just need some time to relax.
"How about we stay here until the game is over?" Rose suggested with a smile.
"Actually, it's not impossible..."
The two chatted slowly. Nancy, who accidentally raised her head, looked at the clock on the wall and frowned: "Why does this clock only have one minute hand?"
Rose raised her head and studied it, and suddenly had an ominous premonition: "I'm afraid this place is not a rest room..."
"What do you mean?"
She pointed at the clock on the wall and said, "This thing is going backwards... What do you think would happen if it went back to twelve, which is the zero o'clock position?"
The two people quickly stood up and walked around the hall. Finally, they found that there was no door this time, only the patterns on the wall and an entrance with scattered beetles hanging around it.
"We have to be thankful that we didn't waste much time, we only rested for 10 minutes..."
Rose said while shaking her head, and began to study the patterns on the wall carefully.
These patterns formed a set of four comic-strip-like patterns, which were different from the exquisite but incomprehensible patterns in the hall outside. They were extremely simple and crude.
The first painting shows two people holding hands and breaking into this place. Behind them is a dense group of insects.
The second painting shows two people sitting in the center of a circle of flames, with small dots in the flames vaguely visible.
The third painting shows some lonely beetles being pecked in the hall, while a group of strange-looking birds with beetles in their mouths are looking towards the corridor.
The fourth painting still shows two people sitting in the center of the fire circle, but their bodies are lowered under the highest position of the flame. A group of strange birds are waiting outside the circle. The hands of the wall clock on the wall are on the number "1", and the two people are sitting in the middle of the fire circle. Everyone's eyes are on the clock.
"Does this... want us to make a fire?" Nancy pointed to the last picture.
Rose rolled her eyes: "I think their reminders are obvious enough. I just don't understand whether the danger we are facing is beetles or those strange birds? Are these birds waiting outside the circle to hunt? Food, or for protection..."
"No matter what, let's light the fire first. The fuel...are those beetles? Can this thing burn?"
"We have to try..." Rose looked at the small entrance and the pointer that had retreated to the "3" position and said, "We have to hurry up, these bugs are about to retreat into the cracks in the wall."
Nancy's backpack had been burnt to nothing. Rose dumped their personal belongings on the ground, emptied her backpack, and walked towards the corridor.
Some beetles that had not retreated instantly gathered into a pile and stood in front of the dividing line.
She fished out a full bag from her backpack without much effort, and quickly zipped it up before the beetles could react.
Nancy reached out and swatted away a beetle that was eating the back of Rose's hand. After it fell to the ground, she kicked it into mud.
The two squatted down and looked at each other. Nancy took out a flint and struck some sparks with a knife.
These seemingly tender and juicy flesh and blood were like gasoline when encountering sparks. Along with the pungent smell, they ignited a very high flame. The two people just wanted to look at the minute hand on the wall. During the burning time, a terrifying thing was discovered.
Most of the beetles that had already crawled back into the cracks in the wall were drilling out crazily, and many of them had even been pushed out of the boundary. Their eyes were staring directly at the backpack in Rose's hand, as if they wanted to Take it back.
"Damn!"
Rose quickly pulled Nancy back, and at the same time slammed the backpack in her hand on the ground, jumped up and stepped on it a few times. After picking it up, the two of them ran back to the center of the hall to where they put their things. For the center, draw a very large circle with the beetle carcass in the backpack.
Some of the beetles that were not dead struggled and began to bite the flesh and blood of their companions, but they didn't care. Nancy quickly picked up the knife and made a cut on the flint.
The spark ignited the position closest to her, and then quickly ignited the entire irregular circle.
The flames had just risen, and a strange but pleasant smell filled the hall. The beetles behind the dividing line seemed to have escaped their restraints and quickly crawled towards the ring of fire that was emitting intense heat.
The two girls were horrified to find that even in the flames, they were busy eating the bodies of their companions, as if they were crazy.
But before they completely left the corridor, Rose looked back and saw that the entrance stone door at the end was closed.
