Soaring at Hogwarts

Chapter 11 Christmas Holiday

After Samantha came back, she quickly started playing with her friends in town.

"I told Claire I went to a historic seminary in Scotland where I could study medieval theology, mythology and that kind of stuff."

On Christmas Eve, at the dinner table, Samantha talked about what happened at her friend's house today.

"Then what do they say?"

"Well, Claire's mom said, 'It sounds like something your parents would do,'" Samantha said, imitating her tone. "Claire was very sympathetic to me, and she said, 'It sounds boring as hell.'"

Samantha giggled.

Ian walked into the kitchen holding the cauldron. Inside was a pot of duck.

"Speaking of Ian, is this duck really edible? Are you sure there won't be anything weird mixed in?" Samantha asked worriedly, "The crucible is used to make potions, right?"

"Ha, no one stipulates that it can only be used to make potions." Ian said briskly, "Don't worry, I have cleaned it up well."

"You really use a potion cauldron to cook!" Samantha was shocked.

"After cooking it for more than an hour, it definitely melts in your mouth."

The crucible is not a good tool for cooking, mainly because it is troublesome when stir-frying - the mouth is small and the belly is deep, and it is difficult for a shovel to function.

Ian initially wanted to use it as a hot pot, but it was even more inconvenient, so he had no choice but to give up.

Ian makes beer ducks. In fact, he doesn't have much experience, but he is pretty good at it.

Sichuan peppercorns, star anise, cinnamon and ginger are the four major spices native to China, and they can all be found in the UK.

Not to mention beer, Ian chose San Miguel beer, which he often saw in his previous life, and he still missed it.

I also added some autumn chestnuts. People here don’t know how to use chestnuts at all. They even just roast them - burnt? —— came to eat, much to Ian's distress.

Ian skimmed off the excess oil and poured the beer duck onto a plate.

Pick out a piece and try it. The duck meat and chestnuts have been softened by long-term cooking. The beer has cleaned up the fishy mutton belonging to the duck, and its own astringency has disappeared, leaving only the fresh air and the faint smell of spices mixed together. .

Aside from the burn on his mouth, Ian was pleased with his results.

In addition to Ian's beer duck, there are also traditional British Christmas meals of roast turkey, roast ham and roast lamb.Ian is sure that he will be much taller and stronger in this life than in his previous life.

In addition to these hard dishes, there are salmon, pan-fried carrots and parsnips, crispy bacon Brussels sprouts, some puddings, and pies.

The beer duck was one step ahead of the turkey, much to Ian's delight.

Go home, take a vacation, just have a good day to eat, drink and sleep.

Except for being chased out of bed by my mother who scolded me for being a slacker in the morning, everything was wonderful.

………… At the end of spring, at this moment, the misty scenery of a foreign land returns again.I miss the southern country and dream about it tonight. The road to Xixi is not real......

After breakfast, it's time to open gifts.

The packages sent by the owl were delivered to the door last night. When she got up in the morning, Cloris received them in the living room and waited for everyone to share the gifts.

Samantha opened a gift, Bibi's All-Flavour Beans from a friend at school.

Haydn threw one into his mouth and said happily: "It's Brussels sprouts. We just ate them last night."

Samantha has gifts from the wizarding world, but to her surprise, everyone in her family is being wrapped by owls.

Mr. and Mrs. Heseltine and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley exchanged gifts.

Haydn receives a talking alarm clock ("Today is a holiday. Would you like to rest a little longer, sir? I can walk more slowly."), and Cloris's is a menu that randomly displays recipes (With With it, you no longer have to worry about what to eat today).

Samantha leaned next to Ian and watched him open the package.

"Where's yours Ian? What did you get?"

First, open a small package. Inside is a small box and a letter.

The parchment envelope was circled with emerald green ink and read: "To Mr. Ian Heseltine."

Pushing the small box to Samantha, Ian read the letter himself.

It was a letter from Professor Dumbledore. He said that he liked Ian's chocolate frogs very much, and he also used the alchemy powder given by Ian to process the cockroach skewers...

Seeing this, Ian's heart skipped a beat and he quickly raised his head, trying to stop Samantha from opening the box.

"Wait……"

"Wow!"

There was no time, but Samantha's voice wasn't panic, but full of surprise.

In the box was a feather, a bright, glorious feather.

Haydn stopped his childish behavior of poking and cutting the menu and asked, "What is this?"

"If I'm not mistaken," Ian looked closer and said after a closer look, "it's a phoenix feather."

At the same time, he was relieved that it was not a cockroach skewer.

Cockroach skewers with active powder added, Ian couldn't help but shudder just thinking about that scene.

Dumbledore quickly glanced at the rest of the letter and found that the phoenix feathers were a Christmas gift for him. Dumbledore wished the little wizard more success on the road to magic.

"It's really nice. Who gave it to me?" Samantha asked enviously.

"Professor Dumbledore."

"Do you still know Professor Dumbledore?"

"Ah, I wrote a letter and sent some alchemical gadgets, and he also knew that I was studying magic wands.

But I didn’t expect that he would reply to my letter and give me a gift. The professor is such a generous person. "

There was another slightly larger package, which when opened contained a set of wand maintenance equipment.

"Who sent it?" Samantha put the small box aside and asked, "You don't have a wand."

"I do not know either……"

Ian opened the small card that came with the package and only glanced at it, his face suddenly turned gray.

"Oh, it's Mr. Ollivander." Ian closed his eyes and said painfully, "But I forgot to give him a Christmas gift."

Ian had previously purchased dragon heart tendons and unicorn tail feathers for Mr. Ollivander, and would also ask him for some wand knowledge, and Mr. Ollivander was willing to give advice most of the time.

The two of them had some contact. But he has been studying alchemy recently, and Ian completely forgot about it.

"It's morning now, it shouldn't be too late."

Ian was now extremely grateful to Cloris for waking him up early today.

I found extra letter paper from the living room - there was a lot left over from Christmas - and hurriedly wrote a letter and sealed it. Ian looked around and started thinking about what gifts to send.

"Aha, yes." Ian looked at the small box sent by Professor Dumbledore.

It's perfect to give a phoenix tail feather to the wandmaker.

It's a pity that it took less than 10 minutes for this feather to arrive in Ian's hands.

Ian rushed to the backyard and called Doug down.

"Thank you for your hard work, Doug. Give it to Mr. Ollivander in Diagon Alley, as soon as possible, okay?"

"Bah."

Doug shouted proudly and flew away with the package.

Ian watched it go away and took a breath.

"Wait..." Samantha ran out, just in time to see Doug fly away.

"What's wrong?" Ian turned around.

Handing over the small card sent by Mr. Ollivander, Samantha looked at Ian sympathetically: "I just looked at it, and there is news that you didn't seem to see."

"Forehead……"

Ian did only read the last signature.

"Dear Ian:

I still remember you asking me if I needed an apprenticeship and my answer was no.

But I found that I had met a gifted little wizard, and like an excellent wand wood, it would be a pity if it could not be polished into a good material.

If you are still interested, you can come to the store to see how a magic wand is born.

Please tell me your wishes and I look forward to your arrival.

you are sincere

Garrick Ollivander"

Looking at Doug who was flying far away and was just a small black dot in his field of vision, Ian was now very embarrassed.

Ian believed that Mr. Ollivander would not fail to see that Doug had only set out in the morning, so he confessed his negligence to Mr. Ollivander in the letter and apologized.

Now he is probably going to write another letter to apologize for not reading it.
