Soaring at Hogwarts
Chapter 36 Christmas and the Mirror of Erised
On the first day of Christmas vacation, Ian rarely slept in.
Giving himself a holiday, Ian slept through the night, and when he got up, it was almost noon.
Start opening Christmas presents.
Well, the Heseltines gave them a small ornament made of dragon scales. The little fire dragon made of dragon scales was lifelike.
There are also several photos showing the couple smiling and waving to Ian in front of the fire dragon.
What Mr. and Mrs. Weasley received as usual was a dark green hand-knitted sweater with a "Y" embroidered on it.And a giant box of homemade fudge.
Ian ate a few pieces of candy to fill his stomach.
Samantha gave her a small bag of gold galleons, which Ian accepted with a smile.
Dumbledore gave him a book, The Complete Prophets. It looked quite old, and Ian suspected that he had randomly picked it from his bookshelf.
Professor Gilani gave him a small furnace made of gold and silver, which was a smaller version of the classroom alchemy furnace.
Ian touched it and found that it had a unique texture. It might be gold and silver refined with the magic stone.
Professor McGonagall gave him an old textbook with notes on Transfiguration.Probably because Ian's Transfiguration is not that good compared to Charms.
Professor Flitwick also gave me notes, notes on Charms.Probably because he felt that Ian had great potential in the study of charms.
A pot of blackroot from Sprout's greenhouse.Blackroot is a magical plant with black stems and white flowers. This powerful plant can ward off black magic when consumed.
Hagrid gave him a wooden whistle, which was crude in style and might have been made by himself.
Unexpectedly, even Professor Trelawney gave him a gift, a crystal ball.
and Quirrell, a book Against the Dark Arts. There are notes densely written on it.
Pushing the book aside, putting on a dark green sweater, Ian yawned and walked out of the dormitory.
The lounge was decorated.
There is a small Christmas tree in the corner with colorful ribbons hanging on it. Magically made snowflakes and golden bubbles float around it, disappear and reappear.
There were some debris on the floor from the fireworks.Probably some little badger left it, and the elves haven't cleaned it yet.
The fireplace was burning brightly, and beside it were placed fresh mushrooms, vegetables, various biscuits and condiments - baked for people to eat.
Looking out of the lounge window, I could see people having a snowball fight or building a snowman on the snow.
Walking to the corridor outside, it was extremely cold in the castle. There was a cold atmosphere everywhere, but it made the laughter in the distance appear clearer.
The elves in the kitchen were not so busy, and the lunch delivered to Ian was even richer.
Ian gave a set of chopsticks to the elves, and they used them for him.
I went to the alchemy room to look at the furnace, played a snowball fight with the little wizards, saw Harry's invisibility cloak, and went to the Forbidden Forest with Samantha to visit the unicorn... The afternoon passed quickly.
The dinner was very sumptuous.
A hundred plump roast turkeys, mountains of roasted meats and boiled potatoes, platters of delicious little sausages, bowls of buttered peas, plates of thick gravy and lingonberry jam .
Every few steps along the dining table, there are piles of wizard packets and firecrackers waiting for you.The little wizard from the Muggle world had a great time.
Ian blew up a lot of firecrackers and got some wizard hats, gloves and magic candles.
Samantha also felt that this was her first time spending Christmas at Hogwarts, and it was a novelty.
…………There will be no good years next year, and I’m afraid that my worries will be wasted. If you work hard today, you can still be proud of the young man......
The next day, Harry was so excited that he and Ian shared last night's adventure.
"I saw my parents!" He said with a longing look on his face, "In a mirror, do you want to take a look? Ron and I plan to go there and look for them again at night."
Ian was sitting on the Gryffindor side, spreading jam on his bread and nodding absently.
"Why night?" Samantha interjected.
Harry and Ron looked at each other for a moment.
Yes, why at night? Can't it be done during the day?
Samantha urged: "What are you still doing? Let's go."
So Ian was dragged along on the expedition.
Harry was in a panic last night and found the Mirror of Erised by accident, but now it would be troublesome to find it.Fortunately, it was daytime and there were many people looking for it, so we found the room in less than an hour.
This mirror looks even more majestic than it did at night: it reaches the ceiling, has a gorgeous golden frame, and is supported by two claw-shaped feet.
An inscription is engraved on the top: "Erisedstraehruoytubecafruoytonwohsi".
Harry couldn't wait to stand in front of the mirror and stroked the mirror surface gently.
"Dad, mom..."
He turned around and said eagerly: "Did you see it? They are all here! There are a lot of people!"
"Let me see, let me see." Ron stepped forward.
Samantha nudged Ian with her elbow and whispered, "Looks a little weird."
"Read the above line upside down." Ian said in a low voice as well.
"I show not your face but your heart's desire (I show not your face but your desire)." Samantha finished reading slowly, and her tone had completely changed to sympathy, "...Poor Harry."
By this time Ron had also discovered that what he and Harry had seen were completely different. He happily pointed at the mirror and introduced the prefect badge and the Quidditch cup.
"Well, little Ron is pathetic too." Samantha sighed.
She strode forward and pushed Ron away: "Don't get lost in the illusion, Ron. Let me try."
Facing the mirror, Samantha winked for a while, and finally couldn't help but turned around and asked, "Did you really see it? Why do I only see myself."
Ian couldn't help but grin.
"As expected of you, Sammy."
"Tell me what's going on." Samantha left the mirror and pushed Ian over.
"That means you're a fool," Ian said, making a face at her. "Only fools are carefree."
"You're the idiot!" Samantha was very dissatisfied and hit Ian on the head. "What did you idiot see?"
Ian stood still and looked into the mirror.
"Oh!" he let out a small exclamation.
The three of them stood nearby, waiting for an explanation.
"I saw you."
"Me?" Samantha pointed at herself and asked doubtfully.
"Well, there are mom and dad...and...master..." Ian said softly.
"Who else?" Samantha didn't catch the last few words.
Ian didn't explain, just looked at the mirror steadily.
In the mirror, the family and the master were sitting together, drinking tea and chatting.
Hayden made a face at Ian - just as he had just done to Samantha - while Cloris was sipping her tea elegantly and Samantha was looking around curiously.
They were on the mountain, in a small Taoist temple that I couldn't remember clearly.
In the mirror, his back was turned to Ian, and he seemed to be introducing his family to the master.
The master was facing Ian, nodding and smiling, with a kind face.
Ian murmured: "Master...I'm here..."
The master smiled at Ian, which made Ian's eyes sore for no reason.
Then he lowered his head, tapped his index finger in the tea, and then flicked his fingers——
"Ouch."
Ian held his forehead and took a step back.
"What's wrong, Ian?" Samantha supported Ian and looked at him with concern, "I'm right here... Do you want to go home?"
Ron nodded, with the same concern on his face: "The way you looked just now... looked like Harry."
"No, no need." Ian lowered his head and wiped his eyes, then smiled brightly, "I'm feeling great now."
Giving himself a holiday, Ian slept through the night, and when he got up, it was almost noon.
