Soaring at Hogwarts

Chapter 4 Welcome to Ollivander's Wand Shop

Samantha took Ian shopping on the street for a while, and the two of them were dazzled by the merchandise from the Wizarding World.

At a young age, Samantha, like many social animals, began to suffer from the contradiction between her insufficient money and her huge desires.

Reluctantly coming out of the Eela Owl store, Samantha stood on the street, wondering what she wanted to buy.

Ian asked: "Don't you want to buy an owl?"

"No," Samantha shook her head, "Mom promised to buy it for me."

"Then what do you want to buy?"

Samantha sighed like an adult: "I don't know."

Ian suggested: "I think you should buy something with the most commemorative value. After all, it is the first magic item."

"So?" Samantha looked at him.

"How about a wand?"

Samantha perked up, then slumped the next.

Ian couldn't help but smile. It was easy to guess what the little girl was thinking. She was probably worrying about spending money on things her parents would buy for her.

"Just think, the first magic item is the wand, and it's your own money."

Samantha was convinced.

"So, where should we find a place that sells wands?"

The two looked at each other.

Naturally, Samantha didn't know that there was no location of the wand shop in the memory that Ian could recall.

"Quickly make a prophecy, Ian."

"Don't think about it, it's impossible."

After discussing it, the two decided that instead of looking everywhere, they would go to someone and ask.My eyes wandered on the street for a while, and I caught sight of a short, fat lady.

Samantha suggested, "She looks okay?"

"Just her." Ian nodded, feeling familiar with this lady.

"Excuse me, ma'am," Samantha stopped her, a little nervous, "I'm sorry for delaying you. Can you tell us where the wands are sold?"

"My dear, is this your first time in Diagon Alley?" The fat lady looked at their Muggle costumes and asked, "Where are your parents?"

"They're in the Leaky Cauldron with Professor Flitwick," Samantha replied.

"Oh, okay." The fat lady frowned, probably feeling that these parents were very irresponsible, "I happen to have time, so let me take you there."

"Thank you very much, ma'am!"

The lady led the two of them through the crowd, and said nonchalantly: "Ollivander's Wand Shop is south of Diagon Alley, you can't find it here.

There are a lot of people in Diagon Alley, so be careful, some people may not be friendly - be especially careful not to run into Knockturn Alley next to it, that's not a good place.

Little wizards all over the UK buy wands from Ollivanders - usually they don't buy wands until they are 11 years old - his ones are the best. You are 11 years old, right? "

she asked kindly.

"Here we are," Samantha hurriedly took out her Hogwarts admission letter, "I will be 12 years old in October."

"That's good. If it's too early, the little wizards won't be able to control their magic power, and the wand will be of no use.

When I entered school, some students had not yet controlled their magic power. Even though they had wands, they would still cause explosions when chanting spells. "

"Oh, Ian," Samantha looked at him with a wicked smile, "you'll have to wait another two years for your wand."

Ian rolled his eyes: "I'm not in a hurry, I can cast spells without a wand."

The atmosphere was pleasant while chatting along the way, but when we arrived at Ollivander's Wand Shop, everyone involuntarily lowered their voices.

The shop looked small and shabby. The gilding on the sign on the door had peeled off, and the mottled marks could be recognized: "Ollivander: Making exquisite wands since 380 BC."

In the shop window, a solitary wand sat on a faded purple cushion.Walking into the store, thousands of long, narrow cardboard boxes containing wands were stacked from floor to ceiling, and a thin layer of dust settled everywhere.

There is very little space left for guests, nothing but a bench in the corner.

"Let's wait here. When Mr. Ollivander comes out, he will choose a good wand for you."

"Okay madam, thank you for your guidance!" Samantha said gratefully, "Being here will take up your time. My brother and I are fine here."

"How can this be done?" The lady disagreed, "I have nothing urgent to do. I will leave after I take you to the Leaky Cauldron."

"Thank you very much!" Samantha and Ian were grateful beyond words.

The three of them sat on the bench and began to wait.

The quiet environment made Samantha drowsy.Ian looked around the store, and he could feel that each carton was emitting a different "frequency".

The magic power emitted by some wands fluctuates smoothly and is as solid as the earth, some are as silky as running water, and some jump like flames.

Different wands are like different musical instruments, playing together a magical symphony, which makes Ian intoxicated. He thinks of the sutra music in the puja, the whirling brocade clothes, and the colored light on the glass candy paper.

"Good afternoon," a soft voice said, waking Ian from his vision.

"Molly Prewett, nine and a half inches, alder wood and unicorn hair, I think she will always be with you." Mr. Ollivander came out.

"Yes," Molly stood up, "it's very easy to use, Mr. Ollivander."

Ollivander nodded and looked at the two children: "Is it time to buy wands for your children again?"

"Oh, no, Fred and George are too naughty. I think it's best to buy them before school starts." Molly explained, "I brought this Muggle child here."

"Hello, Mr. Ollivander, my name is Samantha Heseltine." Samantha looked a little nervous when she met the old man's pale and cloudy eyes. "I want to buy a wand."

"Okay, Miss Heseltine, come forward." He took out a long tape measure with silver graduations from his pocket. "Which arm do you use to use the wand?"

"Um, right hand?"

"Hands up, Miss Heseltine."

The tape measure slid next to Samantha, automatically measuring her arm length, forearm length, height, and head circumference.

"Every Ollivander wand has a super powerful magical substance as the core material of the wand, and this is its essence, Miss Heseltine.

We used unicorn hair, phoenix tail feathers, and fire dragon heart tendons.Every Ollivander's wand is unique, as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are exactly the same.

Therefore, if you use a wand that belongs to another wizard, your magic will not work as smoothly. "

Mr. Ollivander moved through the shelves, picking out long boxes.

"Try this one, chestnut wood and unicorn hair, quite soft."

Samantha took it and waved it, but was disappointed to find that there was no reaction.

"Don't worry, here, this one is made of pear wood, very elastic, and matched with phoenix feathers."

As soon as Samantha touched the golden wand, Ollivander pulled it away.

"No, no, try this one, aspen wood and dragon heart, eleven inches, a solid wand."

Samantha happily felt the warmth coming from her fingertips, but before she could cheer, the wand was pulled away again.

"Ah, let's try again..." Mr. Ollivander continued to select the wand.

"Wait a minute, Mr. Ollivander," Ian interrupted, "Excuse me, could you let Samantha try this one?"

Ian pointed to a box at Ollivander's elbow and said that in his perception, the "sound" of this wand was the most active.

"Oh?" Ollivander opened the box, "Rowan wood (Rowan) and fire dragon heartstrings, 12 inches, very good, very good."
