[HP] Being a problem student at Hogwarts

Chapter 259 Night Talk in the Forbidden Forest

In what seemed like only a blink of an eye, a man's upper body floated towards them through the mottled green dim light; they saw that his waist was smoothly and naturally connected to the reddish-brown horse's body.

This centaur has a proud face with high cheekbones and long black hair. He even carried weapons, a quiver full of arrows and a longbow slung over his shoulder.

"How are you, Margaery?" Hagrid said warily.

"It's our turn to ask you this, Hagrid," the centaur said, staring warily at the giant on the ground.

There was a rustle in the woods behind the centaur, and four or five more centaurs appeared behind him.

"It was just an accident," Hagrid said dryly, "it has been resolved."

A centaur with a black horse body said fiercely: "Don't always try to hide your messy 'pets' in the Forbidden Forest! Then wait for us to clean up the mess!"

Hagrid was so enraged that they had to pull hard on his belt to keep him from charging.

"He - is my brother!" Hagrid roared, "And the last time you went to war with Aragog, I haven't -"

"You can raise your voice a little louder, Hagrid." Margaery said calmly, "I only say this because there are several young foals around you - there is a nasty human walking this way. I remember that breeding giants and young foals were not allowed to visit the Forbidden Forest at night.”

"Today, Hagrid, you go. From now on, stay away from this place. When you helped the traitor Firenze escape from us, you already lost the friendship of the centaurs." Margery said, leading his people Back away slowly.

"Because I stopped you from murdering him? He did nothing but help Dumbledore—"

"He has officially sold our knowledge to humans!" a wrinkled centaur shouted angrily.

"That's enough -" Margaret raised her hand to stop them, "It's time for us to leave." The centaurs disappeared into the woods.

When the centaurs came over, Tom, who had already released the magic mist again, also started to pull Hagrid's arm. "Quick!" He used the mist to drag Grawp, who was dead on the ground, "It's Umbridge!"

Harry reflexively began to touch the clothes on his body, and then realized in despair that he was not wearing an invisibility cloak at all.

Hermione pointed her wand at Grawp and said, "Wingardim Leviosa!" Together with Tom's mist, she dragged Grawp behind the tree.

"No!" she said hurriedly, "It can't be stopped!"

"Even if it looks like a mound?" Ron waved his wand and tried to pile the fallen snow and leaves onto Grawp.

"Who is Umbridge?" Hagrid didn't understand the situation yet.

"Stop asking!" Tom had already sensed her getting closer through his magic power, "Come closer!"

The gray-white mist shrouded everyone except Hagrid - someone had to be able to stop Umbridge outside.

He wasn't quite sure yet, so he had to concentrate very hard to prevent his free flow of mist from going awry. In order to further grasp the effect of the spell, he simply transformed into a mist body.

His perception was surprisingly active. Wherever the fog was shrouded, the surrounding information flowed into his consciousness almost uncontrollably.

This was not the time to think about this... Tom blocked the distractions out of his "wall of sighs" and cast the Disillusionment Charm.

As if being poured down by a bucket of ice water, Harry, Ron and Hermione shivered almost simultaneously. Grawp was so frozen that he muttered something in his sleep, and the mist thread was inserted into his body and sucked away. Some of his energy caused him to fall into coma again.

They were surprised to see that their bodies became like transparent water waves, and they could directly see the scene behind them through the front of them.

Ron wowed.

"Shh." Tom's fog of information was like a gust of wind, blowing silently past their ears.

Hagrid still stood there blankly, unable to realize why the fog in the forest suddenly thickened and then faded away, and several children and his giant brother hid.

He was not confused for long before Umbridge appeared wearing her green tweed cloak and a hat with ear fans of the same color.

"Are you Hagrid?" she said slowly and loudly, as if talking to a deaf person, "are you the one who made such a big noise?"

She looked at the fallen trees around her - most of them had been knocked down or pushed down by Grawp who was chasing them. Fortunately, the huge footprints and palm prints on the ground were mostly obscured by the snow and fallen leaves that Ron brought over.

Tom's heart tightened. For a moment, he thought that if it didn't work, he would just let Umbridge forget about it.

"Er - I don't mean to be rude," said Hagrid, glaring at her, "but who the hell are you?"

"My name is Dolores Umbridge."

She scanned the suspicious surroundings, flicked her wand, and removed the blades of grass on her body.

"Dolores Umbridge?" Hagrid seemed completely confused. "I thought you were from the Ministry of Magic - I remember you were with Fudge?"

"I am the Senior Under-Secretary of Magic," Umbridge said. "I'm currently a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher -"

"You're brave," said Hagrid, "not many people are going to teach that these days—"

"—and Hogwarts Senior Inquisitor." Umbridge seemed not to have heard him.

"What is that?" Hagrid asked with a frown.

"That's exactly what I'm asking." Umbridge pointed to the long line of fallen trees that formed a path behind Hagrid.

"Oh..." Hagrid glanced at the place where they were standing, "Oh, uh... some animals in the Forbidden Forest..." he said vaguely, "I heard a movement... and was about to investigate. Woolen cloth."

Umbridge stood in front of him and had to lean back to take in every detail of his face - she only reached his belly button.

"I heard voices just now," she whispered.

"The centaurs have just left," said Hagrid. "They... don't like seeing strangers."

The term centaurs made Umbridge uncomfortable. She curled her lips and said, "These are not like the traces left by centaurs."

"Ah, yes." Hagrid gradually calmed down, "They originally heard the noise and came to take a look."

"What's the matter with your injuries?" Umbridge continued to ask.

"A little... uh, accident."

"What kind of accident?"

"I-I fell."

"I fell down," she repeated coldly.

"Yes. Tripped over... by a tree root. I heard something moving in the Forbidden Forest, and you know I have to guard the hunting ground... so I came over, uh, with just a small pony lantern," he said, holding up The lamp in his hand was indeed very small compared to his hand. "I couldn't see the road clearly, and some animal bumped into me... There were tree roots under my feet. Alas, I fell... I suspected it was a magic rune horse." , I wonder if you have ever seen a big animal with wings, fluttering and disappearing——"

He could even explain why the traces disappeared at this point.

"Where have you been?" Umbridge cut Hagrid's nonsense coldly.

"Where am I going...? I'm right here-"

"——It's been more than two months since school started," Umbridge asked. "Your class is taken by another teacher. Your colleagues don't know your whereabouts. You didn't leave your address. Where did you go?"

There was a moment of silence, and Hagrid stammered: "I-I went to recuperate."

"Recuperation," said Professor Umbridge. She looked at Hagrid's bloody and bruised face, "You can see it," she said sarcastically.

"Yeah," said Hagrid, "enjoy it - the fresh air, you know -"

"Yes, it must be hard for the gamekeeper to get a breath of fresh air," Umbridge said kindly.

The small patch of skin on Hagrid's face that wasn't purple turned red.

"Hmm... a change of scenery... Oh, it's easy to fall down in the woods..."

"There aren't so many tree roots that can trip people up high in the mountains, right?" Umbridge said immediately.

She got it.

The fluctuations in the thoughts of several people were conveyed to Tom.

"Mountains?" Hagrid repeated, obviously thinking hard. "No, the south of France, the sun and... and the sea."

"Really?" Umbridge said, "You don't have much of a tan."

"Ah...yes...I'm not a tanner. I put on sunscreen." Hagrid showed a flattering smile with missing teeth.

Umbridge looked at him coldly, his smile unbearable. Then she pulled her purse into her arms and said, "Of course I will report your return so late to the Ministry of Magic."

"Yes." Hagrid nodded.

"You should also know that as Senior Investigator, I have the unfortunate but necessary task of investigating the teaching of other teachers. So I dare say we will meet again soon."

She took one last look around, then turned and left.

"You want to investigate us?" Hagrid asked blankly, looking at her back.

"Yes," Umbridge impatiently pulled out the heels of her high heels from the slush, looked back at him, and said softly, "The minister is determined to get rid of unqualified teachers, Hagrid. Good luck to you."
