[HP] Being a problem student at Hogwarts
Chapter 293 The Hall of Prophecy
Tom was getting closer to the bell-shaped crystal glass cover, and he had the urge to open it and hold the unusually bright light.
But the next moment, his movements froze. In his spiritual perception, there seemed to be something huge standing quietly behind him, looking at him with an eye from the gap in the long river of time.
Tom felt his heart beating violently, beating so hard and fast that the bird's little heart almost burst with pain as if it could not bear it.
The pounding heartbeat was getting louder and louder, and it sounded weirder and weirder, gradually taking on a harsh and crazy echo. Even the rapid and neat ticking of clocks in the whole room became noisy and confusing - sometimes there was a ticking sound. It's very long, as if the syllable has slipped into an endless whirlpool; sometimes it's several times in succession, and it's so fast that it seems to be a short scream.
The chaotic sounds were mixed together, as if more and more invisible people were crowding into his ears and shouting some confusing and meaningless words at him.
He froze, and through the reflection of the bell-shaped glass cover, he saw that his sleeping body behind him, held up by the mist, seemed to begin to slowly melt under a thin layer of golden light...
Tom forced himself to shake his head, and the abnormality in front of him disappeared.
His body lay quietly in the mist, his limbs hanging naturally and unconsciously.
But he didn't look back, because in his spiritual sense, the huge thing was tearing open something invisible and getting out, and then slowly approached him, but stopped the moment before it touched him - there was a premonition screaming in his mind : "It's not time yet!"
As the tiny hummingbird egg in the glass cover cracked open, the behemoth suddenly disappeared.
Tom sat down on the ground and breathed a sigh of relief.
All of this was weird, and what was even weirder was that he had encountered such a weird thing, but it was different from the similar messy and troublesome things before - he didn't even feel scared.
Also, why was his body emitting a golden light just now? He rolled his eyes and looked at the large and small clocks around him that were shining brightly, and he unconsciously made associations. His shattered time-turner...
And... is there any connection between the invisible behemoth that suddenly appeared and disappeared just now, and the one he encountered when he used the time turner before?
For a time, his mind was filled with all kinds of conjectures.
But Tom soon put these suspicions aside. There was a sense of urgency pushing him gently.
He stood up, stretched out his wings and touched his body - the miracle did not happen, he was still trapped in Chiu Jiu's body.
The corpse puppet stiffly bent down, picked up the crow, and walked towards the light source along the narrow gap between the tables, passing through the bell-shaped crystal glass cover and towards the only door behind it.
The door opened.
It was as high as a cathedral, lined with towering shelves filled with little dusty glass balls and nothing else.
More candlesticks were embedded on the shelves at certain intervals, and dim light shot out from above, just like the ones in the black round room, and the flames were blue. Those little glass balls glowed faintly in the light.
It's cold inside the house. Tom fluffed his feathers and looked at the dark aisles between every two rows of shelves - there was no sound here, and no movement, not even the smallest movement, could be felt.
So he silently ordered the lifeless corpse to stop. His body floated lifelessly behind him, and the mist seemed to be alive, gently climbing up the shelf and exploring deeper.
"Still so cautious, Crown."
This cold voice sounded familiar - a head with a long neck poked out from between the shelves on the right, and the still vague outline of the young man Riddle looked down at the crow, as if he were a human-faced snake.
Tom did not look back, but reflexively checked through the magic mist that his body and the small headdress floating alone in the mist were all at peace.
He was somewhat thankful that the fog obscured many details, so that the diary could only vaguely see a crow standing on the corpse.
The mist surged quietly, wrapping the original golden crown, and then condensed into something that looked exactly the same on top of the crow's head - thanks to his persistence in Transfiguration class, Tom had always been good at transfiguring this kind of gold product.
"Each other." Tom deliberately imitated the tone of the crow's voice.
The young man Riddle didn't look suspicious and said lazily: "You came early."
"The time is just right," the crow replied, "I have to come and take a look first."
The diary chuckled, showing no interest. "What's there to see? It's not like you're picking a cemetery..." It muttered, its head still, its neck bent and slid back, as if it was leading the way, and as if it was wary of him going back on his word and escaping.
Tom wasn't sure how much the diary knew about Voldemort's rituals and what thoughts it had about them. But this was not the time to hesitate - the corpse puppet held him and followed the direction of the young Riddle, walking forward along the long aisle between the shelves. It was almost pitch black in the distance. The further you went in, the more candles were extinguished on the shelf. Only the small glass balls on the shelf still emitted some faint light - some small balls emitted mysterious flowing light, while others Fuzzy and dark, like an extinguished light bulb.
They walked silently past row 84...row 85...until they reached the row marked 97.
In fact, even without walking there, Tom could still see where the end point was - the shelves near the 97th row had been cleared, and countless glass balls and unlit candlesticks were stacked to form a complex and huge circle. In the labyrinth, a bright green black magic mark floats in the air. The giant snake spit out from the skull's mouth slowly patrols above the labyrinth. The thin and dense black air flow spit out from the snake's mouth envelops the entire ritual plate like a cover, exuding It smells of fear and ominousness.
Tom has jumped on top of the corpse puppet - this way he has a better view.
"Wow." He sighed.
"Isn't it?" the young man Riddle snorted, and several wizards whose faces were covered with black masks that were constantly moving slowly walked out stiffly holding diaries, "I am exhausted from doing this..." he complained. Then, he pulled out other limbs from the diary. It finally looked less like a snake with a human face. "Every time you don't work, you don't remember me..."
"If you say that, what will Nagini think?" Tom replied.
From the night talk about Mr. Weasley being seriously injured in the Ministry of Magic, it can be clearly seen that poor Nagini is now at the bottom of the Horcrux food chain...
