Chapter 888 Will the gambler reform?

When the banquet was halfway through at the temporary command center, Bagman, who had received the message from the twins, quietly came outside.

The attack happened too suddenly. Now the situation in the camp is getting better little by little, and it is time to claim the prize.

Bagman very readily handed them both a purse.

George opened it and clicked briefly.

150 gold galleons?

He counted again, and was even more surprised when he confirmed that he had made the right choice. "Mr. Bagman, you calculated correctly, didn't you? We bet at 1:1.3. That's 7 Galleons, 8 Sickles, and 15 Knuts more."

Bagman shook his head sadly. "I did not make a mistake in my calculations. The World Cup was suspended due to the attack. We don't know if it will resume yet, so I prepared more bonuses."

The twins suddenly realized.

George held the bag of money tightly in his arms. "Thank you, Mr. Bagman, you are such a nice man."

If it was another dealer, they would have probably run away after losing so much.

Not only did Bagman not run away, he even gave more bonuses because of the suspension of the event. It was indeed a right decision to bet with him.

"Fred? George?"

Vincent, who left early, just happened to pass by and asked, "Why are you here?"

He noticed that George was holding the bag of money tighter in his arms, and Fred was looking terrified.

He looked at Bagman, who was a little flustered, and then looked back at the twins who were making eye contact.

"You guys aren't going to bet on football, are you?"

"Cough cough..." George coughed violently, "Brother, we are...we are..."

Fred hurriedly made up an excuse, "Collect the money!"

"Yes!" George winked at Bagman quickly, "Mr. Bagman borrowed money from us before, and we are here to ask him to pay it back today."

Vincent squinted his eyes and looked at the two of them. "Really? Actually, there's nothing wrong with gambling on football, as long as you don't get addicted to it."

The twins smiled awkwardly, feeling somewhat guilty.

“Betting on football is really no big deal.”

"That's right. We don't gamble every day. We just play a few hands occasionally to kill time."

Fred, who had let the secret slip, quickly covered his mouth.

Vincent smiled bitterly and shook his head, "Forget it, you didn't lose much, did you?"

George raised his little face with pride, "Lose? Man, we've won two games in a row. If the game continues, we would have won five games in a row."

Bagman's face darkened instantly.

"Three of you, I should go back now."

He turned and walked quickly towards the temporary command center.

Vincent looked at his fleeing back thoughtfully.

All wizards in Britain know that the Director of the Department of Magical Games and Sports is a veteran gambler and is very interested in all gambling-related activities.

It is said that he seemed to have made a fortune some time ago. Not only did he pay off all the money he owed to his colleagues, he also set up a World Cup handicap.

It seems like I’ve had bad luck with gambling for half my life, but things are finally getting better recently.

Vincent didn't think much about it and turned his attention back to the twins.

"Don't worry, I won't tell Aunt Molly."

The twins were delighted, "My good buddy, I knew you wouldn't tell."

The three of them walked towards the tent together.

"How much did you win?"

"50 gold galleons, isn't that amazing?"

"It's almost as much as two months' salary for others."

Bagman was really lucky. If the game had not been suspended but continued, the little fortune he had made would have been lost long ago.

But his luck was about to run out.

Based on the current situation in the camp, the competition should continue in the short term.

Unless he makes up his mind to change his ways, he will fall back into his old ways and become the debt-ridden gambler he once was.

After returning to the tent, there was also a banquet.

Vincent prefers the atmosphere here.

No need to wear a mask or be hypocritical and polite.

It feels so good to be free.

……

On the morning of March 8,

After full communication between the International Confederation of Wizards, the International Quidditch Association, and the British Ministry of Magic, the 422nd Quidditch World Cup will continue tomorrow night on the 24th.

As soon as the news came out, fans from all over the world cheered.

The entry and exit restrictions at the competition camp had long been lifted, and there were nearly 23 wizards left behind, which undoubtedly reduced the pressure on the special team.

Afternoon, St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

Vincent walked into the hospital carrying flowers and a fruit basket.

He was recognized as soon as he entered.

"Mr. Wayne, your speech at the award ceremony the day before yesterday was amazing!"

"For the happiness of future generations, we must overcome all obstacles!"

Vincent chatted with them briefly, then walked into the elevator alone and went to the third floor.

The corridor was deserted and there was a particularly unpleasant smell in the air.

It smells like dill mixed with heather, which makes a powerful healing potion.

Vincent stopped in front of Ward 303 and knocked gently on the door.

"come in."

He pushed open the door and Wales inside looked like he had seen a ghost.

"Wayne!?"

"What, you don't welcome me?" Vincent nodded to the other patients in the ward.

He then walked over to Wales' bed and placed the fruit basket on the bedside table.

Wales shook his head with a complicated look in his eyes, "No, I just didn't expect you to come over to visit me."

Vincent picked up the empty vase on the corner of the table and said, "It seems that you are not very popular."

He put the flowers in his hand into the vase and said, "Don't be too touched. I just came here to take a look because I was bored."

Wales pulled the corner of his mouth and said, "Why should I be moved? Just leave quickly after you finish watching it, and don't disturb others to rest."

Vincent smiled and pulled over a chair and sat down. "Since you're here, sit for a while before leaving."

"Whatever you want." Wales looked particularly impatient, but the slightly upturned corners of his mouth revealed his true thoughts.

The conflict between the two is not big, but it is not small either.

Vincent moved his fingers and made an apple in the fruit basket float up.

The red peel peeled off from the surface piece by piece, as if there were countless invisible transparent blades in the air.

The peeled apple floated in front of Wales, and he said reluctantly, "You're quite good at acrobatics."

Vincent hooked his finger and the apple came in front of him, "Thank you for the compliment."

Wales stared at him as he devoured the sweet and juicy apple in just a few bites.

"Wayne, you..."

Vincent pointed to the fruit basket on the table and said, "Want to eat? Just help yourself."

Wales angrily picked up an orange and stuffed it into his mouth with the skin included.

Vincent moved his chair with disgust on his face.

Not only do you eat the skin, but your mouth is also filled with juice.

After eating, Wales picked up a banana and this time peeled the skin.

"The World Cup is going to continue?"

"Tomorrow morning, the Scottish team will play against Luxembourg."

Vincent stood up and said, "If you feel bored, go downstairs and take a look. I will install a magic projection in the public lounge area."

Wales did not stand up to see him off, but his expression softened. "Then I thank you on behalf of everyone."

Vincent waved at him without even turning his head, "I'm leaving now. I'll come to see you next time when I'm bored."

"Okay." Wales said, lying back on the bed.

After waiting for a while, he looked up and found that Vincent had already left.

Although the contradictions still exist, they are obviously not many.
