American Comics: The Force Awakens
14. Inspiration and commitment
Crime Alley, where the Waynes were killed, is where it all begins.
In the past, there was a little man named Joe Zier. He waited for prey in the alleys of the night. He had no money, but he had a gun.
That day, the Waynes took little Bruce to watch a movie. What they saw was Zorro, a handsome and heroic masked swordsman.Perhaps he was frightened by the crime scene inside, so Bruce asked to leave early.
The three of them walked out of the back door of the theater and wanted to take a shortcut from the alley to the street. Then, Joe Zier appeared. He didn't recognize the Wayne family and just raised his gun.
He wanted money, maybe because he was taking drugs and his hands were shaking. And not only did he want the purse, he also wanted the pearl necklace around Martha's neck.
So after two trembling gunshots, little Bruce was left alone in the Wayne family.
"It's a very simple story, isn't it." Carl said: "I was robbed while walking at night in Gotham. There was no conspiracy, no complicated entanglements, just bad luck. A little man who was short of money allowed himself to stand at the top of Gotham. The Wayne family is in hell.”
"It doesn't look like anything special here." Harleen looked around. It was just an alleyway that could be seen everywhere in Gotham, an empty corner, a blind spot. "The number of people who are robbed or killed in a place like this is probably not a dozen every year in Gotham."
"That's because you didn't catch a good opportunity today." Karl said. "Every once in a while, Batman will come here in the Batmobile, meditate, and review his tragic past. Maybe you will have a chance to steal the tires of the Batmobile."
"And that will be the best day of my life, huh?" The doctor sneered. "But so many people were killed, and there was only one Batman in Gotham." She continued.
From that day on, a huge shadow fell over Bruce.Because he was afraid of the evil in the movie, his whole family suffered misfortune. He felt it was his responsibility. And more importantly, even a family like Wayne, who stands at the top of the city, is so helpless and vulnerable in front of criminals. What about everyone else?
What if more accidents like this happen?
We must be fully prepared for this. How to stop the crime? Then let all sin fear Him.
"Remember the first clown story I told you when we first met?" Carl said. "An ordinary person experienced the worst day in his life. He went crazy. And he also experienced a bad day. Blues, but crazy and different."
"He began to become suspicious and had difficulty trusting others. He went to study and disguise himself. He made backup plans for all actions and guarded against all risks. He gave up his pampered rich life and turned into a bat to bring fear to criminals. He used all his strength I do this just to prevent the tragedy from happening again."
In the eyes of ordinary people, this is obviously crazy, even crazier than the famous criminals in Arkham, but is he really crazy?
In other words, will such mental illness be better than ordinary people?
"I told you the story of Batman at the end just to tell you that in a city full of darkness, or even a universe full of darkness, going crazy may not be a bad choice."
Karl gently pulled Harleen into his arms, and she did not resist. He gently stroked the female doctor's blond hair.
"Of course, this may be a little psychological comfort for myself when I am about to do something bad."
Harleen leaned her head on Karl's chest and asked gently: "So, are you going to do something to me? Are you going to hurt me? Will it hurt?"
"No, I just want to show you the real, broader world."
Karl closed his eyes and exerted slight pressure on his fingers. The complex memories and information poured into Harleen's head like a torrent along with the surge of the Force.
Knowing too much makes you crazy. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
But no matter what, Harley Quinn should be a little psycho who is always happy.

On the roof of the Gotham Police Station, the Bat-Light still shines in the night sky.
"How long do we have to wait?" Harvey asked. Even though he had dealt with bats before, this was the first time he waited in front of a bat lamp late at night.
"How long, how long?" Gordon replied while smoking a cigarette. He was still used to the elusiveness of bats and was very patient about it.
"This must be terrible for a marriage."
"Barbara...understands. What, do you have any problem with Greda?"
Barbara was Gordon's wife, and their eldest daughter bore the name Barbara, while their younger son inherited the name James.
How can I put it, they really don't have the talent for naming.
"My wife... no, there's nothing that can't be solved." Dent swallowed his words. "I guess he won't come out even if we squat here all night."
A wide black shadow shrouded the front of the bat lantern.
"District Attorney Harvey Dent, this is—" Gordon paused and sighed. "I don't need to be a detective to see that you two already know each other."
"I came... to pay my respects to one of our mutual friends," Dent said, "and how he crossed a line that we cannot cross."
"Given the late hour and the way you dress, Dent," Batman replied, "You two are worrying about the Romans again."
"Roman? That man's name is Carmine Falcone. He's just a man, except he puts himself above the law." Dent said, his voice a little excited.
"I have accumulated countless 'unsolved' robberies, hijackings and murders, all with his name on them. His money can buy witnesses, police and judges, but we can't arrest him at all."
"But that doesn't mean he is above the law." Gordon continued.
"Really, then, go and arrest him, Sheriff."
"We can talk about it all we want, but we know what to do." Batman spoke.
"Let me be clear here. Although it is based on... enthusiasm for Falcone to be punished by law." Gordon interjected, "I will allow you to wander around the edges of the rules, but we can't break it, otherwise, we and him What’s the difference?”
"Of course." Dent agreed without hesitation.
Batman remained silent, as his thoughts seemed to return to that night and that alley.
Until Gotham is cleansed of the evil that consumed his parents' lives, Batman will not rest, trust no one, compromise, and be prepared for anything.
But now, he decided to trust them for now.
"Agree." His mouth was shrouded in shadow, and there was almost no movement.
The Batlight went out and he disappeared.
"Gone." Dent looked around.
"He always does this, it makes people angry, doesn't it?"
"Wait, was this thing here just now? Harvey pointed to a heavy book on the ground.
"No, it must have been left by Batman."
"This is... from the Romans... how could it be?" They instantly understood what this thing was and its significance.
"Now, we finally have some clues about our actions."
Harvey Dent picked up the ledger.
