A sharp Hogwarts

Chapter 25 Mr. Dursley’s Bet

The next day, Dalia woke up at five in the morning.

She was so excited and nervous that she couldn't sleep anymore. Today was a big day.

Dalia got up from the bed, took out the wizard's robe from the box, hesitated for a few seconds and then put it back.

She originally wanted to wear a wizard's robe to the station to increase the success rate of "fare evasion", but after thinking about it again, she changed into jeans.

Compared to baggy, cumbersome wizard robes, jeans and short-sleeved tops are obviously more suitable for strenuous exercise.

For example, forced entry, chases in carriages and platforms... and carjacking of trains - of course, this is the ultimate solution when there is no alternative.

Before her parents got up, she began to simulate various emergencies that she might encounter today in her mind, as well as the response plans for each situation.

Half an hour later, she heard a noise from the next room, and Harry obviously woke up early.

After more than an hour, the Dursleys also woke up one after another.

Then there was the clanging sound of the alarm clock hitting the wall in Dudley's room.

When Daria came downstairs to the living room, Penny was wearing an apron and preparing breakfast for the family at the frying pan.

Vernon Dursley was sitting on the sofa watching the morning news - they had to leave early today and there was no time for the newspaper to be delivered to their home.

call……

Okay, let’s try the first step of today’s plan.

Try it one last time to see if you can get yourself a relatively handy weapon.

Dalia glanced at Petunia, who was preparing breakfast not far away, and cautiously moved closer to Mr. Dursley.

"Uh-Dad?"

"what happened?"

Mr. Dursley hummed slightly and raised his hand to turn down the volume on the TV.

"Oh - I'm going to Hogwarts to study soon - that wish I mentioned before -"

"Huh?" Vernon turned his head warily and looked at his daughter suspiciously.

Since the arrival of the owl, Dalia has begun to act strangely. Although she is still as cute as ever, she is much more reckless than before.

"That... broken rifle... I want to put it in the suitcase. There's some danger over there at Hogwarts-"

"What-" Vernon's eyes suddenly widened.

However, before his voice could come out, Dalia rushed towards him and covered his mouth with her hands.

"Shh-"

Daria sat on Vernon's lap and glanced nervously at Petunia.

"Mom doesn't allow it, and I know this request is rude, but I can explain to you why, if you give me a little time."

"And I can swear that I will never use it unless it's for self-protection in a critical moment - you promise me... that you won't complain to my mother after I let go?"

"Well."

Vernon looked at Dalia, who was riding on him and covering her mouth, and hummed helplessly.

Dalia thought this meant that the two had reached an agreement, so she breathed a sigh of relief and continued.

"Hogwarts, all wizards carry sharp knives -"

"Needless to say these reasons, the magical world is dangerous."

Vernon raised his hand, interrupting Dalia's carefully prepared tirade.

He stared at his daughter's blue eyes that were exactly the same as his, and after pondering for a few seconds, he spoke slowly.

"The barrel of that rifle is twisted, and the rifling is unstable and dangerous. If you press in the bullet and force the shot, you will be injured first."

"The Restoration Charm can fix it - Transfiguration should also work. I saw the corresponding introduction in the school textbook."

Dalia quickly replied, "These are all magics that can be mastered by lower grades. The difficulty is very low. I can do it myself."

"Okay, but you also see how powerless guns are against those monsters - I mean, wizards."

"Mr. Hagrid is a special case," Dahlia said.

Of course she knew what Vernon was talking about, and she added seriously, "There is no one like Hagrid in Britain."

Dalia knows very well that most wizards in the wizarding world are not superhuman.

The wonder of magic is more reflected in the soul, rather than the mutation and strengthening on the physical level.

Perhaps the vitality of wizards is stronger than that of ordinary people, but they still belong to the category of normal humans.

They will be burned, smashed, laughed when tickled, and bleed when cut by a knife...

And the same...

If a wizard is hit by a bullet...

will die too.

"Your mother told me that you can see some fragments of the future world..."

Vernon was silent for a few more seconds, tugged on his beard, exhaled a long breath, and stared into Dalia's eyes.

"Honestly, I don't believe this at all...but if you say that in the future you see...you may encounter any dangers——"

"I just want to figure out if, I mean if there were more guns in the future, would that be okay?"

Eh? !

So...is this what Vernon was worried about?

Dalia blinked, but the excuses she had prepared were not spoken.

Dalia sighed helplessly and said dryly.

“…I see a future without guns.”

"So, does the gun work?"

"Theoretically, the range for wizards to fight is mostly within ten meters."

Dalia replied seriously that this was not the reason she had originally prepared but it was the real reason she wanted to get a gun.

"Human reaction speed is 100 milliseconds, and the bullet flies across this distance in less than 35 milliseconds - ten meters. A gun is faster than a knife."

"I understand, but unfortunately, I've already disposed of the broken rifle—"

Vernon was silent for a moment, then finally made up his mind and took out a box from the shoe cabinet.

"Of course, a few weeks ago, I used some connections to get a handful of imported goods... small ones, suitable for girls."

"But..." Vernon held up the heavy box.

"Uh, Dad, what are your conditions?" Dalia took the box carefully, trying to suppress the surprise in her voice.

"Two requirements - first, don't point the gun at yourself, and don't take it out except to protect yourself."

"The second point... and the most important point is, if you can't do it, I will take it back before you board the train."

"Huh?" Dalia looked at her father in confusion.

"Prophecy, no matter what happens today..."

Vernon Dursley took a long breath and said extremely seriously.

"From now until you get on the train, prove that you can indeed see part of the future..."

"Oh, this - well, let me think -"

Dalia turned her head and looked at Harry, who happened to be walking down the stairs slowly, with a flash of thoughtfulness in his eyes.

…………

Half an hour later, Dahlia and Harry's heavy suitcases were loaded into the Dursleys' car.

Petunia convinced Dudley to stay home alone, Harry held Hedwig's cage and sat in the back with Dalia, and the four of them were on their way.

At about 10:30, they arrived at King's Cross Station.

Vernon Dursley put Harry and Dahlia's suitcases on the trolley and took the initiative to accompany them to the platform. Harry was wondering why Uncle Vernon was suddenly so kind as to accompany him to the platform. Above - after all, according to the original plan, only Petunia was responsible - Mr. Dursley suddenly stopped and turned around.

He looked around at the tourists coming and going, as if he wanted to find some suspicious characters hidden among them.

"Okay, we're here, Dalia. This is Platform 9, but I didn't see it..."

"Oh, because we didn't get on platform 9."

"Isn't it... on platform 9?"

Vernon suddenly became confused and looked around with a frown.

"So, what does it say on your ticket?"

"9? Platform, eleven o'clock sharp."

Before Harry could take the ticket out of his pocket and reconfirm it, Dalia replied casually.

Vernon Dursley's eyes widened.

"Which platform is it?!"

"Platform 9? A magical platform hidden between platforms 9 and 10."

Dalia pointed to the plastic sign with the big number 9 hanging above her head, and then glanced at the clock not far away.

"However, we can't go in yet..."

"Is there a time limit on this platform?"

"Do not--"

Dalia smiled sweetly, "To witness the prophecy come true..."
