Chapter 9 Halloween Fireworks Show

The rainy season came quietly one night, and Nolen was awakened by the sound of raindrops hitting the window. She closed the window, and the sky outside became gloomy.

There were hurried footsteps in the corridor. She guessed they were the girls on the Quidditch team. She didn't know if they were stimulated by the Slytherin team last time. Wood's training enthusiasm was unprecedentedly high. He often led the team members to go out early and stay late. Returning, traveling through the thick clouds and mist, even the most noisy Weasley brothers had ceased their activities for a while.

She didn't go to the Quidditch pitch anymore, so she didn't see the two brothers much. Instead, she met the little girl from the Weasley family when she was helping out in the hospital wing. She was always sick and was forced to do something by her prefect brother. After drinking several refreshing drinks, Halloween was coming soon, and she didn’t know if she still had the energy to go around asking for candies.

Nolen walked out of the dormitory with the book in his arms. When he passed by the common room, the Weasley child named Ginny was huddled in the corner of the sofa, writing something in a notebook. She noticed Nolen's gaze, and she carefully opened the notebook. Close it and hold it in your arms, only the black cover is exposed.

The black book—is it the one I saw that day?

Nolen's chest suddenly felt like a suffocating feeling that her heart was being pinched, and an ominous premonition became stronger. She suppressed her uneasiness and continued to walk quickly to the library.

By the time Nolen finished the twelve-foot-long Potions paper, it was completely dark. She carried the book back to Gryffindor Tower. The lounge was very lively. Fred and George were doing their Care of Magical Creatures lesson. Come on, here's a salamander, they're looking at what would happen if they were given some hard-drawn fireworks.

"It looks sickly," Ginny said gloomily as she sat at the table.

"Because salamanders can survive up to six hours without fire," Percy explained seriously from the sidelines.

A firework jumped out from Fred's hand and exploded in a circle around the room, attracting Nolen's attention.

"Are you a cat? Miss Liar?" George's voice suddenly sounded, and Nolen realized how stupid he was staring at the fireworks in a circle.

"Do you want to see what it looks like after eating a firework?" Nolen glared at George, picked up a firework from the table, lit it, pinched the Salamander's mouth and threw it in.

The salamander's body bulged, and people were surprised to find that it changed from blue to red. Suddenly, it jumped into the air, spinning crazily in the room like a firework, making a crackling explosion sound. Percy was in the boy's arms. The girls screamed excitedly, straining their throats to maintain discipline, and then he screamed even louder - the salamander spraying orange-red sparks jumped onto his school uniform robe, burning a big hole in his shoulder, and then Escaped into the lounge fire before he caught him.

"Well done! Miss Liar!" George and Fred crossed the cheering crowd and came to Nolen, opening their palms to high-five her.

"There are more beautiful ones, you bastard gentlemen." A firework jumped out from Nolen's hand, wiping the red hair of two people and exploding into a fierce and ugly face above their heads.

——Dr. Felipe's Nordic special contribution to pirate fireworks allows you to enjoy the pirate captain's personal service all day long.

Before the two brothers could react, Nolen had already used his short advantage to squeeze through the two men and escape to the stairs of the girls' dormitory.

On Halloween Eve, the Gryffindor lounge was the busiest. The students sat around and discussed the upcoming dinner. I heard that Dumbledore invited a skeleton dance troupe.

"Yes, that's right, we have prepared a surprise program for everyone." Surrounded by everyone, Fred looked mysterious. George shook the bag in his hand, looking equally mysterious.

Far away from the bustling center, Nolen was quietly warming himself by the fire. A small blue figure flashed past in the stove. The knife flew up and down in her hand, and a palm-sized pumpkin skull began to take shape.

The auditorium was decorated with live bats for Halloween, and swarms of them flew over people's heads when the door was pushed open. The giant pumpkin that Hagrid grew was made into a lantern that could cover three people inside if it fell. The long table is already covered with all kinds of food, including three or four styles of pumpkin pie alone.

Dumbledore was wearing a purple and gold robe and a triangular wizard hat of the same color. He was sitting at the teacher's desk with a smile to welcome the students. Lockhart sat at the bottom like a peacock. He wore a blue forget-me-not robe and a golden feather pinned to his wizard's hat.

"He has such good taste." Mary's words made Nolen swallow the complaints, and at this time, his facial features were wrinkled with a look of disgust.

"Nolen, this is our gift to you." Qiu handed two jars made of small pumpkins to Nolen, which were full of various candies.

"Oh my god! I love you so much." Nolen held the jar in surprise and did not forget to take out the pumpkin he carved. "This is the skull I carved myself and give it to you."

While they were talking, the professors withdrew from the stage and left the stage to the Skeleton Dance Troupe. Amid the cheers of the students, they took off the heads again and again and tossed them in the air like a Muggle juggling. There was also a small skull head. He was snatched away and played as a ball, making everyone laugh. A skull fell in front of Nolen and the others. The lost skull lay on the ground looking for it blankly. When Mary picked it up and handed it over, he kissed the back of Mary's hand like a gentleman.

"I actually think he's a bit handsome!" Mary covered her face and turned to lie on Nolen's shoulder and said.

Lockhart should be ashamed of his handsomeness, Nolen cursed in his heart.

When the atmosphere reached its highest point, Weasley's surprise happened at this moment. Many laborious fireworks jumped over the auditorium, red and blue stars jumped among the jack-o-lanterns, and fell on the stage and around the long table. Skeletons The dance troupe danced energetically amidst the fireworks.

"I'm going to my own table." Nolen patted Qiu and Mary on the shoulders and walked towards the Gryffindor table.

An accident happened at this moment. A huge jack-o'-lantern was shattered by a scurrying firework, falling from the sky and hitting the Gryffindor table in the center of the auditorium. Then the surrounding area fell into darkness, leaving only the unruly people. After a few sparks dispersed, the unidentified classmates thought it was part of the Weasley brothers' Halloween surprise, and burst into cheers after a brief silence.

The sudden darkness made Nolen a little at a loss. She walked quickly towards the long table based on her feeling. Someone was running around in the darkness, and she only felt her shoulder being hit hard.

She was knocked off balance on the narrow walkway, and was about to come into close contact with the floor - the pain she imagined did not come, and someone caught her.

Thanks Merlin!

Nolen hugged the man's neck tightly like a squirrel, her hands clenching his robe and shaking uncontrollably. Darkness and suffocation pressed against her, and it was even difficult to breathe. Someone patted her on the back. This movement was like a feather brushing across her tight strings, calming her down instantly.

The smell of gunpowder from fireworks lingered in the air, mixed with the smell of soap locust and earth after the rain, lingering in her breath. She suddenly felt that the smell was strangely good.

"Leave my fragile neck alone, Linn" a familiar voice sounded in my ears, with a smile that couldn't be concealed, "it's not a lady's behavior to hang on to others."

Nolen raised his head in astonishment and met Weasley's light brown eyes. They were so close that as soon as he raised his head, even their breaths mingled together.

This was the first time she had carefully observed someone else's eyes. His eyelashes were very long. When he lowered his eyes, they were less sharp and more gentle. There was a smile in his clear eyes, which made her feel all the light. The illusion gathered in his eyes.

Are you a Bowtruckle? Nolen murmured, but his voice was covered by the exclamations and whispers of the students. The prefects of each house were using loud voice spells to maintain order. Weasley blinked and did not hear what she said clearly.

Nolen loosened her hands around his neck, moved cautiously to the position beside Weasley, and twisted her body to try to get rid of Weasley's arm around her waist.

"It's not gentlemanly to let go!" Nolen glared at him dissatisfied, clasped his big hands on his waist, and carefully identified "Are you George Weasley?"

George let go of his hand knowingly, and then rubbed Nolen's head. "Of course I am Fred."

Nolen's face was full of distrust, but the most important thing now was not to argue whether this Weasley was George or Fred. The auditorium was already in a mess, and she had to think of a way to brighten it up.

“coronaignious”

A blue flame emerged from the tip of Nolen's wand, igniting the candlestick she had just transformed into with a knife and fork.

"wingardiumleviosa"

George used a floating spell to send the lit candlesticks up into the sky one by one. The senior students who reacted also imitated their example and turned the things at hand into candlesticks and sent them up into the sky. The light returned and the professors who had left the scene rushed back to repair it. All the lights were turned off and the auditorium was once again illuminated by candlelight.

"Mr. Weasley, Miss Lynn, what on earth are you doing!" Professor McGonagall walked towards them angrily, her bright green robes rustling due to her pace.

After regaining the light, Nolen realized that she was now sandwiched between the two Weasleys, and George was putting his arm around her shoulders a little affectionately. This obviously failed to convince the professors that she was not an accomplice.

"We decided to help everyone have fun on Halloween, Professor" Fred spread his hands and showed their empty bags to Professor McGonagall, "so we planned a wonderful fireworks show"

"It's a pity that there was a small accident, thanks to our Miss Nolen." George touched Nolen's shoulder intentionally or unintentionally, and received a round eye roll from Nolen, which completely pulled her down.

"Is that so? Miss Linn"

"This is just part of the surprise, Professor." Nolen pointed to the candlesticks suspended in the sky, which were dotted in the dark sky like stars. "They used fireworks to bring us a starry sky, and we also used With the spells I learned, this was the most wonderful Halloween night I’ve ever had.”

The students nodded in agreement, and even Professor Flitwick was full of praise for the candlestick floating in the sky.

"Well, deducting points during the festival will indeed ruin the happy atmosphere - but punishment is inevitable, Mr. Weasley," Professor McGonagall said slowly, looking at them, "you should be happy to stay after the dinner. You help clean the auditorium, right?”

Fred and George cheered and rejoined the celebratory dinner at the long table, and Professor McGonagall turned to Nolen.

"And you, Miss Lynn, I originally wanted to give you points for your excellent transformation spells and charms, but I'm really disappointed. I thought you would stop their dangerous behavior instead of joining them."

Nolen lowered his head, not knowing how to face Professor McGonagall's condemning gaze.

"If you don't feel well, you can go back to your dormitory first," Professor McGonagall sighed and finally said.

Only then did Nolen realize that he was in a mess, his robe was crooked, and his short hair was as messy as a chicken coop.

She nodded and hurriedly left the auditorium and walked towards Gryffindor Tower. After leaving the auditorium, she breathed a sigh of relief. The darkness reminded her of those bizarre dreams, the claustrophobic attic and the dim curtains.

She lowered her head and thought about her own affairs and walked forward quickly without noticing the situation around her. A girl suddenly rushed out from the corner. The two of them bumped into each other. A black book fell out of the girl's arms. landed at her feet.

"Sorry!" Nolen quickly got up, pulled the girl up first, then turned around to pick up the book on the ground.

The book looked very familiar. Nolen's fingers paused on the somewhat tattered cover. He slowly raised his head to see clearly the person who bumped into him - Ginny Weasley quickly pulled the diary from under Nolen's fingers. Holding her in her arms, she ran upstairs without looking back.

Tick-tock-tick-tock

The sound of water dripping on the floor came from the empty corridor behind her, and a trembling feeling from the depths of her soul extended from her fingers that touched the book to every part of her body.

It wasn't an illusion, she heard herself say.
