Chapter 1341. Splendid Rivers and Mountains System 31

"Regular consumption of turtle meat can enhance disease resistance, beautify the skin, and prolong life. The meat of Vietnamese stone turtles has the effects of nourishing yin and strengthening yang, removing dampness and detoxification, benefiting the liver and nourishing the blood, and benefiting yin and blood. It can treat fatigue, tuberculosis, chronic cough and hemoptysis, bloody dysentery, hemorrhoids, tendon and bone pain, etc. It has obvious effects on sexually transmitted diseases, nephritis, stomach problems and rare and difficult diseases; turtle blood can treat prolapse of the anus and injuries from falls; turtle shell is the main raw material of Chinese patent medicine, such as the "broken turtle injection" for the treatment of tuberculosis, Dabuyin pills, Dahuoluo pills and Heche Dazao pills, all of which use turtle shell as the main ingredient; turtle shell and turtle shell are compatible, which has a good effect on the treatment of liver cirrhosis."

Han Zifeng said calmly, "This is the one that is edible if it is farmed, but it seems that the wild one is still not edible." Zifeng pulled another one over, and it said "Yellow-margined Box Turtle". Zifeng changed the introduction and then turned it over for everyone to see.

The yellow-margined box turtle, also known as the broken plate turtle and the snake-killing turtle, is an animal of the genus Testudinidae and is listed as a critically endangered second-level protected species in China. The yellow-margined box turtle has a hooked upper jaw; a raised carapace; a flat, oval plastron with a round or slightly concave front edge and a round rear edge; a large, diamond-shaped anal shield with a central seam that does not reach the end; slightly flat limbs, with large, rounded scales on the front edge of the forelimbs; slightly webbed fingers and toes, with blunt claws; olive green dorsal head, yellow eyelids, irises, and tympanic membranes, and black pupils; orange-yellow sides of the head, pharynx, and chin; brown-red dorsal body; yellow-brown ridges, brown-black plastron, but the outer edge of the carapace and the ventral side of the marginal shield, and the outer edge of the plastron are bright beige; the back of the limbs is brown-black, the abdomen is light gray-brown, and there are yellow longitudinal stripes on the back of the tail.

It often moves in wet places such as forest edges, rivers, lakes, etc., lying under fallen trees, rocks and fallen leaves. It is distributed in Henan, Hubei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Fujian, Hong Kong and Taiwan in China, and also in Central and South China in the Oriental region.

Next to it is a fellow that looks similar to this guy. It says Pan's box turtle. Zi Feng flipped it over and then changed the introduction to Pan's box turtle next to it: Pan's box turtle, a reptile of the family Testudinidae, is listed as a critically endangered species. It can be bred. The carapace is low and flat, with unclear ridges and no side ridges. There are brown stripes on the side of the head from behind the eyes to the neck. The plastron is yellow, with a round front edge and a notch on the rear edge. There are wide black stripes on the seams between the shields of the plastron. The body is small and the head is narrow and long. When alive, the back of the head is yellow-olive, the sides of the head are dark gray, the back of the neck, limbs and the back of the tail are gray-brown, the belly is light, and the rest of the soft parts of the body are yellow. The claws are brown with yellow tips. It is found in the ditch next to the rice field at an altitude of 6 meters in mid-June. It is distributed in Pingli County, Shaanxi Province in China.

Seeing there was another one that looked similar next to it, I took a calm and careful photo. A new introduction was put up next to it: Golden-headed box turtle, commonly known as splint turtle, golden turtle, and yellow box turtle, is a reptile of the genus Testudinidae, and is listed as a critically endangered species. The carapace is relatively raised and the ridges are relatively flat, with obvious ridges, golden head, slightly yellowish brown on the sides of the head, with three black lines, dark brown on the back, yellow plastron, and large black spots that are basically symmetrical on the left and right shields. The back of the plastron is slightly missing, and its anterior and posterior leaves and dorsal and plastron are connected by ligaments. The plastron can close the carapace upwards front and back. It lives in ravines in hilly areas or ponds in mountainous areas with clear water. It is also commonly found in bushes and grass not far from water. It mainly feeds on animal food and a small amount of plants. It is distributed in Anhui, Yunnan and other places in China.

Zi Feng put several box turtles together and introduced them again: "They all belong to the genus Cheloniformes, phylum Chordata, subphylum Vertebrata, class Reptilia, subclass Anapsids, order Testudinata, family Testudinidae, so they look a bit alike. This is to tell everyone that even if you find a turtle in the wild, don't just throw it into the pot. If it turns out to be the most valuable one among their relatives, you will have to face jail time. The point is, in our country, which is famous for its food, there are still many relatively endangered species. Since there are places where they are raised, don't pick them up in the wild. What if you don't pick up the right one?"

Then she dragged a few mavericks next to them and turned them over to take pictures. The sign next to them changed: Razorback turtle, also known as roof musk turtle, knife-back musk turtle, knife-back egg turtle, ridge-back mud turtle, small musk turtle genus of the family Kyostrichidae, is a semi-aquatic turtle. It is listed as an endangered species.

Razorback turtles are omnivorous and carnivorous. They are native to the southern United States and are commonly found in southeastern Canada, the eastern United States, and Central and South American countries, all the way to Colombia. The oval carapace can be up to 17 cm long, with a tall, protruding spine running through the front and back. Each vertebral shield usually overlaps with the vertebral shield behind it, and the high, pointed back is triangular. Razorback turtles live in slow-flowing rivers, swamps, and the "U"-shaped bends of large rivers, and tend to be aquatic.

Razorback turtles are diurnal turtles. They are active and aggressive when grown. When harassed, they will run around, sometimes bite back, and even expel a pungent musk liquid to drive away predators.

The administrator who came with us held out his hand: “This is an invasive species. We need to take it back.”

Zi Feng poked the giant softshell turtle again: "Does this creature have any family? Invasive species need to be packed up and taken away." A group of local turtles happily showed a bunch of strange-looking turtles, saying that they were free to pick up. Zi Feng was curious: "Hey, hey, hey, why don't you show some sympathy this time?"

The Yangtze giant softshell turtle complained: "These guys smell terrible."

Zi Feng rolled her eyes and looked at the administrator who didn't understand. She said, "They hate the musky smell on these guys." The administrator was also speechless.

The last one with words on its body was called the Alligator Snapping Turtle. The administrator said directly: "This one must be taken away."

Zi Feng looked at the giant turtle, who told the other turtles to hand over the alligator snapping turtle. The alligator snapping turtle wanted to resist, but Zi Feng slapped it in the face and it became obedient, accepting its fate and cooperating with the performance.

The sign next to it reads: Alligator snapping turtle, endangered species. There are two subspecies of alligator snapping turtle. Its maximum carapace length is 49.4 cm. The carapace is like a hemispherical roof, with some tiny serrations, and the color ranges from dark olive green to brown. The head and limbs are very powerful, the tail is quite long, and the plastron is relatively small. Distributed east of the Rocky Mountains in North America, north to the Great Lakes and Nova Scotia, south to Florida and the Nueces River. It inhabits rivers, lakes and reservoirs to swamps, temporary ponds, mountain gullies and tidal creeks. It feeds on a variety of animals and plants.

Alligator snapping turtles have the characteristics of high meat yield, rich nutrition, fast growth rate and high economic benefits. Their meat is delicious and has no peculiar smell. Alligator snapping turtle meat is a high-quality natural nutritious food with high protein, high amino acid, low fat, low cholesterol and low calories.
