The Light of Beauty

Chapter 31 Melina

Over the snow-capped mountains, over the hills.

The boundless white snow suddenly disappeared, and the green vegetation and blooming flowers rushed into the eyes.

Raising the binoculars, Ryan saw a house in the valley in the distance, and the surroundings were very well-groomed.

After jumping off the cliff, Ryan quickly faced the sun and ran on the dirt road covered with weeds.

After a while, through the shade of trees on both sides of the road, a corner of the house was exposed.

boom!

A shot was fired, and the trees behind Ryan burst into a cloud of sawdust.

He turned abruptly and rushed down the hill, into dense bushes.

The branches and leaves swayed, constantly attracting attacks from the opponent.

Before the front was about to leave the bush and fully reveal his figure, Ryan shook his arm and grabbed the rifle.

A jump jumped out, and after landing, it rolled to the right.

Bullets flew past his body.

Get up, aim.

The shot rang out and people fell.

Lane dropped his rifle behind him, drew his pistol instead, and stepped forward.

After getting closer, Ryan smelled an unusual smell coming from the corral, but there were no livestock around.

One arm of the woman was drooping on the ground, and the muzzle of the gun was still dripping blood. She was trying to raise the gun with her left hand, but when she saw Ryan approaching, she also let out a long sigh and turned her head to lie on the ground give up to continue.

"Melina Vosikoff."

"It's me, who are you?"

"Lane."

"I didn't say that." Melina shook her head, looked at Ryan's equipment, and said, "You look like a mercenary, but I'm sure there is definitely an organization behind you."

"You are very smart." Ryan looked at the surrounding corrals and asked, "How far has your research progressed?"

Melina's eyes narrowed slightly: "I don't understand what you are talking about."

Ryan looked into her eyes and shook his head slightly: "Now I want to take back what I just said."

Melina was silent.

Seeing the blood oozing from her shoulder, Ryan stepped forward directly to help her up.

However, when leaning over, Melina took out a sharp dagger from nowhere and quickly stabbed Ryan's eyes.

But Ryan quickly grabbed her wrist, no matter how hard Melina gritted her teeth, it was difficult to get an inch in the end.

"This is the first time." Ryan said, twisting his hand, and the dagger fell.

With both hands under her body, Ryan hugged Melina and walked towards the house.

Probably not expecting Ryan to make such a move, Melina lay in Ryan's arms in a daze for two seconds, then glared.

Ryan turned a blind eye.

Open the door, and the tidy room greets you.

Putting Melina on the sofa, Ryan asked, "Should there be a medical kit at home?"

Melina frowned at him for a moment before pointing to a door.

After Ryan went in, Melina bit her lip and thought quickly, but she was still puzzled.

After a while, Ryan brought a white box.

"Take it off." He said calmly.

Melina quickly took off her coat, but she touched the wound when she took off the black shirt with one hand, which made her hiss.

Lane reached out to help her.

Melina was left with nothing but a gray sports bra.

But she didn't twitch in the slightest, even though she had been looking at Ryan.

After a while, Ryan treated her wound and bandaged it, and got up and sat opposite her.

"I think we can have a good talk now."

Melina glanced at the bandage on her shoulder, raised her head and said, "Injure me first, then talk to me. Is this the way your organization does things?"

"No, this is my way of doing things. Besides, I didn't intend to conflict with you at first. You fired first."

"Hehe. Well, before you ask me, can you tell me who you are?"

"Whether you can tell or not depends on whether your answer is satisfactory enough." Ryan didn't want to waste any more time, and asked directly: "Do you know the location of the red house?"

Melina didn't hide it anymore at this time, let alone pretending that she hadn't heard of the Red House, but she still shook her head: "I don't know."

"Okay, so you should be able to contact them?"

"can."

"Has your research been successful?"

"It's my business."

"I think the red house will provide you with resources, and it won't be kind enough to let you learn to train a group of obedient pigs at home all day."

Melina frowned and stood up slightly: "How much do you really know?"

"This is my own business." Ryan leaned back and changed the topic: "Do you still remember that you have two daughters?"

In an instant, Melina's expression changed.

But Ryan stopped talking.

After several minutes of stalemate, she took a deep breath: "If you want to use them to threaten me, then you are afraid..."

Ryan interrupted: "No, you think too much. I never like to solve problems by threatening. Besides, I can solve you directly."

"Then what are you trying to say?"

"Natasha is currently an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. She should have known about it with the intelligence of the Red House. Before I came here, I just brought Alexey Shostakov out of prison."

Melina's eyes burst into flames instantly: "He exposed my address?!"

"You can say that. But it's not appropriate to use the word exposure. You were a couple for three years before. Although it was fake at the beginning, judging from where he knows you, you should still be in touch?"

"Fart! I should have let those people kill him back then!"

Ryan persuaded with a calm face: "Don't be so excited, he knows I won't kill you, so he told me."

It could be seen that Melina was so angry that blood began to ooze from under the white bandage.

After a while, she suddenly raised her head: "You know this, so what about Yelena?"

Ryan paused, and then suddenly smiled, like the ice thawing and the winter snow melting.

"I thought you wouldn't take the initiative to ask, but now it seems that you still care about your daughter...although it's a lie."

Melina grabbed the sofa tightly with one hand, her face was still calm: "This is none of your business, tell me about Yelena, and I will tell you what you want to know."

Lane got up and approached her.

Lowering his head, he looked down into Melina's eyes.

"You shouldn't ask me, because you know exactly where she is."

In an instant, the light in Melina's pupils dispersed, and her out-of-focus gaze seemed to penetrate time and space, falling to an unknown distance.

After she regained consciousness, she saw Ryan standing in the open space of the living room, watching carefully with a cross sword in his hand.

Melina turned her head quickly, and immediately saw her open arsenal.

At this moment, she felt more and more mysterious... and terrifying of the man in front of her.

He seems to know everything.

Melina got up and said firmly, "I don't know where she is!"

Ryan looked at the mirror-like sword in front of him, and his voice was slow and steady.

"This sentence sounds like you are convincing yourself."
