Rebirth: My 80s

Chapter 872 An ordinary old lady (page 12)

June is approaching in the Special Administrative Region, and the sun is already blazing.

In just half a year, the Special Economic Zone has taken on a new look and is developing vigorously.

Li Jiankun should have been happy to see this originally, but now that he had a document in his hand, he was somewhat gritting his teeth.

This is something that is put on the table.

Some guys have to be bitches and build memorials.

The content is high-sounding, saying that Huadian Company violated this and that, but it does not mention the reason that both parties know well——

Huadian Corporation is building a chip industrial park in the special zone.

This hurt the interests of some guys, so they were blacklisted.

Even in the port city, Huadian Company cannot import chip technology, equipment and materials.

"Now you see what to do, the chip factory can't start work."

On the wooden sofa against the wall, Lin Xinjia spread his hands and said.

The chip factory he was referring to was the chip factory of the former Hong Kong City Baotong Company. After taking over this chip factory, the chips for Huadian BB machines were all produced there.

Naturally, it saves old nose money.

Therefore, even if there is a price war with Motorola, Li Jiankun is not afraid.

"Then do training, use the remaining materials to practice, and train the newly recruited employees to the level of the old employees."

As for the chips needed for Huadian BB machines, go back to the past and order them from other companies.

Batumi does not restrict the import of finished chips from Huadian and mainland China. They cannot restrict this either. The capital bosses above them will not agree.

"Aren't you going to lay off some employees?" Lin Xinjia asked. The chip factory cannot be put into production and has no income. To support so many employees now, it costs a lot of money every month.

Li Jiankun looked at him with caring eyes: "I train employees on a large scale, and you still want to fire them?"

People who know how to make chips are hard to find these days.

In order to create a talent reserve for the Huadian Industrial Park in the Special Administrative Region, he deliberately recruited suitable new employees from both the mainland and the Hong Kong city. Like the mainland, he spent a lot of money to send them to the Hong Kong city for training.

Every employee is a treasure.

Lin Xinjia smiled coquettishly and turned around: "Well, the factory doesn't need so many masters. I will arrange the extra people to other newly acquired companies."

This is just a word. Li Jiankun nodded: "Let's see how many people are willing to come and work in the special zone. The treatment will be favorable."

The chip factory in the special zone is basically ready.

Lin Xinjia scratched his head: "But, materials?"

The topic comes back again.

If you want to manufacture chips, raw materials are an unavoidable hurdle.

It is also the issue that is currently troubling Li Jiankun and Huadian Company.

There are four major difficulties in manufacturing chips:

1. Equipment.

It's not just a lithography machine, it's just the core equipment. In fact, there are many key equipment in the chip field, such as:

Test machine.

The life cycle of a chip begins with the analysis of market demand, followed by product definition, design, and manufacturing. After packaging is completed, it is delivered to the end consumer and needs to undergo multiple tests throughout the entire process.

At this time, a test machine is needed.

It integrates many sophisticated instruments, and the overall cost is also very expensive, not much cheaper than a photolithography machine.

At present, the global semiconductor testing machine market is mainly controlled by Teradyne, a company in the United States, and Advant, a small company in China.

The etching machine is also a very important piece of equipment.

Coincidentally, the global etching equipment market is mainly controlled by Tokyo Electronics and Applied Materials.

There are also ion implanters.

Ion implantation is the core process of doping in wafer manufacturing, and its technical barriers are second only to photolithography, etching, and thin film deposition.

Its function is to inject atoms to be doped into the silicon wafer so that the chip can obtain specific electrical properties. Otherwise, even if the chip is made, it will not work properly.

The market for this kind of equipment is mainly monopolized by companies from the United States, Japan, and the Netherlands.

There are many more.

Fortunately, Li Jiankun now has these devices at hand.

In the past, Baotong Company, since it could produce chips independently, had everything to do. When Batumi relaxed the embargo on lithography machine technology from mainland China, he specially sent Liu Jingyan to lead a team to the beautiful country. I also got some high and low.

Regarding equipment, Li Jiankun's headache is not the problem of running out of things, but the manufacturing.

There is at least one of these devices, and now the Huadian Research Institute in the Special Administrative Region is being cloned by five horses. Researchers are studying day and night, hoping to imitate it and talk about improving it in the future.

To this end, we often invite technical experts in related fields to help.

Let me tell you, the SAR leadership team has helped a lot in this regard.

After all, half of the Huadian Company in the Special Administrative Region is owned by the state.

2.EDA.

The industry calls photolithography machines "the heart of modern semiconductor manufacturing" and EDA the "mother of chip design."

EDA, the abbreviation of Electronic Design Automation, to put it bluntly, is circuit board development.

The first step in chip manufacturing, in addition to understanding the market, is design.

Obviously, Li Jiankun solved this problem.

Although the current business capabilities of Huadian IC Design Center are still far behind top EDA companies such as Synopsys, Cadence and Siemens.

But the basics are in place.

This is why he took great pains to win the Baotong IC Design Center.

3. Talent.

In this regard, Huadian Company is still lacking.

Otherwise, Li Jiankun would not have personally trained and trained the workers on the assembly line.

At a higher level, talent is extremely scarce.

In the Huadian Research Institute of the Special Economic Zone, it seems that there are quite a few scientific researchers.

However, few of them have actually been engaged in the chip industry. For example, Yu Fenghua, the head of the optics department, has never studied the lenses on the lithography machine before, so he started to study again based on the basics.

There are almost no such experts who have worked in the chip field for many years.

In other words, there are three "Bodhisattvas" in the Hong Kong City Huadian IC Design Center who have paid huge sums of money.

Ding Lun's team is busy stealing lessons...

4. Materials.

If we talk about talents, Huadian Company currently does not have that kind of industry giants who are particularly awesome, but at least on a regular level, there are still people available.

So in terms of raw materials, it is really a duck egg.

Some materials are planned for production, however, have not yet started.

Even if you want to make some materials, you can't make them yet...

Make bricks without straw.

Without raw materials, it is equivalent to building a house without sand and gravel.

Otherwise, Li Jiankun cannot sit back and watch the Hong Kong chip factory stop production and close down operations.

If he wants to become a Huadian company and build a whole chip industry chain, the first thing he has to solve now is the problem of raw materials.

Jingle Bell!

Li Jiankun paused his chat with Lin Xinjia and picked up the landline microphone on his desk.
