Shangsi Festival, also known as March 3, Spring Bathing Day, Valentine's Day, and Daughters' Day. According to legend, March 3 is the emperor's birthday.

There is a saying that on February 2, the dragon raises its head, and on March 3, Xuanyuan is born.

The activity of purification and seeking children originated in the pre-Qin period, which has a certain witchcraft and primitive religious color. It was originally a custom of worshiping the water god. People prayed to the water god on this day to bless the harvest and peace.

In the Tang Dynasty, it gradually became a festival of waterside banquets and spring outings in the suburbs.

Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Lanting Poems" is about the day of March 3rd.

Li Shimin was preparing to go out and visit Cuiwei Palace on this day.

"Your Majesty, Princess Gaoyang is asking for an audience outside the palace." A maid came in to report.

Empress Chang Sun was checking the list of things to prepare. When she heard Princess Gao Yang coming, she looked up with some confusion:

"Gao Yang is here? She hasn't been here for some time. Let her in quickly."

The maid agreed and went out. Not long after, she heard footsteps outside.

Before anyone came in, Gao Yang's sad voice was heard:

"Mother, you have to make the decision for your daughter!~~~~"

This cry made Empress Changsun even more stunned. Then she saw Princess Gaoyang walk in.

While crying, he came to Empress Changsun and saluted:

"Son, come and see your mother. Your daughter has been beaten. I want you to be the one who makes the decision."

"Ah? Was he beaten?" Empress Changsun was shocked when she heard that Gao Yang was beaten.

Who is so bold as to hit a princess?

Empress Changsun carefully examined Princess Gaoyang and found that her face was red and swollen.

"Come quickly and let mother take a look."

Empress Changsun quickly waved to Gao Yang.

When they got closer, they saw that Princess Gaoyang's face was swollen, and very swollen.

"Oh, why is it so swollen? Someone, go get the doctor."

After seeing it clearly, Empress Chang Sun gave orders to her servants with some heartache, and then pulled Gao Yang to sit on the couch.

"Tell mother quickly, who was so bold as to beat you like this? Could it be the imperial consort Fang Yiai?

This is too outrageous. Don't worry, I will tell you later and let you punish the prince consort."

While Empress Changsun was heartbroken, the first thing she thought of was that Fang Yiai had committed treason by beating the princess, which was an unforgivable crime.

"Mother, it wasn't Fang Yiai who beat my daughter. Someone else beat her."

Seeing that Empress Changsun cared about her so much, Princess Gaoyang finally couldn't help crying out of grievance.

He cried bitterly, just like a child who had been wronged outside.

"Hey, what happened? Tell me quickly, if it's not Fang Yiai, then who is so bold?"

Seeing Princess Gaoyang crying so sadly, Empress Changsun hurried to comfort her.

He took out a handkerchief and wiped Princess Gaoyang's tears.

Princess Gaoyang was crying so hard that she couldn't even speak. It took Empress Changsun a long time to comfort her before she calmed down.

He took Empress Changsun's hand and said with a frightened look:

"Mother...it was...it was Li Shen. It was Li Shen who beat my son. He also said that no one would dare to do anything even if he killed his daughter."

"Li Shen? You said the person who beat you was Li Shen?"

Hearing Princess Gaoyang's words, Empress Changsun was stunned at first, then asked in disbelief.

In her impression, Li Shen and Gao Yang had no connection, so why would he attack Gao Yang?

“Yes, mother, how dare a daughter lie to her father? It was Li Shen who beat my daughter, and it just happened.

He came to the princess's residence, beat her daughter, and then left."

Princess Gaoyang was sobbing, but she was secretly observing Empress Changsun's expression from the corner of her eyes.

Empress Chang Sun frowned. Although Li Shen did have the courage, she still didn't believe that Li Shen would go to the princess's mansion to attack Gao Yang without any reason.

There must be something going on here. Thinking of this, Empress Changsun asked softly:

"Gao Yang, since you said Shen'er hit you, did you tell me why he hit you?"

When Empress Changsun called out "Shen'er", Gao Yang's heart sank immediately.

I didn't expect Li Shen to be so close to the queen. This title is not appropriate for a bastard's son.

If you count carefully, the only children who can be called like this by the Queen are the legitimate children.

If they respect you, they will call you by your name; if they are more distant, they will call you by your title.

The fact that the queen addressed Li Shen as "son" showed how much she loved him.

Seeing Princess Gaoyang in a daze, Empress Changsun asked again:

"What's wrong, Gao Yang, tell me whether Shen'er told you why he hit you.

Don't worry, if he really hits you without any reason, mother will definitely stand up for you and punish him properly."

Princess Gao Yang heard this and quickly replied:

"Mother, Li Shen said that I instigated the Prince Consort to compete with Fang Yizhi for the title, but I never did that.

I don't know who he heard it from.

He even came to me with my father's golden knife to question me, saying that I was trying to cause unrest in the Duke of Liang's mansion and that his daughter was a vicious woman.

Mother, you have to make the decision for your daughter."

Princess Gaoyang burst into tears again as she spoke. She looked so pitiful. She wanted to win the sympathy of the Queen.

But she found that Empress Changsun was looking at her with a frown.

"Mother, what's wrong?" Gao Yang asked in a low voice.

"Gao Yang, tell mother the truth, did you really instigate your husband to compete with his brother for the title of Duke of Liang?"

Empress Chang Sun's tone was very serious.

"Mother, I don't have any. If the prince consort had competed with Fang Yizhi for the title, Fang Yizhi would have reported it to Aye long ago.

And the rumors had already spread outside, I don’t know where Li Shen heard the gossip from.”

Gao Yang said aggrievedly.

"Oh, if Shen'er really went to the princess's mansion to beat you up because of some gossip, it would be inappropriate.

Alas~~~How can Shen'er be so reckless and not investigate the matter thoroughly? I will have a good talk with him later.

But don’t lie to your mother.”

Empress Changsun wiped away the tears from Gao Yang's eyes again and comforted her softly.

"Thank you, mother. I did not lie to you. I did not let the prince consort fight for the title of Duke of Liang."

Gao Yang was happy to hear this and quickly made the promise.

"Have you ever had such an idea?" Just then, a voice came from outside the door.

Then Li Shimin walked in with a gloomy face and a frown on his face.

"See Aye."

"Erlang is here."

The two of them quickly stood up and saluted Li Shimin.

"Hmm." Li Shimin made a sound through his nose, then walked to Empress Changsun and pulled her to sit down.

Princess Gaoyang immediately stepped back, still bowing as she saluted.

She was a little flustered, and her heart was somewhat uneasy at the question His Majesty had asked her just now.

"No need to be so polite." After a while, Li Shimin finally said a word.

"Thank you Aye."

(March 3rd was later replaced by Qingming Festival, but some places still celebrate Shangsi Festival, which is March 3rd.
