The mage in the city wants to practice Taoism
Chapter 36 The Theory of Taiping Dao
Finally, under Xi Mengxiu's show of force and the joint confirmation of Bai Er and Cang Mou, the soldiers and the archaeologists who had actually finished searching the middle courtyard exited the tomb.
Although the two old professors were reluctant to leave, they were still evacuated. Before leaving, Professor Zhou gave up his struggle and asked to speak to Xi Mengxiu.
"Young man, you are right. This place is indeed not a tomb. The style should be closer to the residence of a living person. If we assume that the owner is a monk and has become extraordinary, then we may be able to define this place as a "cave house". In fact, So far, Old Tang and Taoist Master Xun and I have made preliminary judgments. We speculate that the owner of this place lived from the middle of the Tang Dynasty to the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. We have re-study the video of the backyard and based on that Taoist His crown, robes and the cane with yellow talismans hanging from its nine joints can basically be speculated to be related to Taiping Dao..."
"In addition, young man, as far as I know, no one has classified Mingqi as you said, but the classification you mentioned is very interesting. We can communicate if we have time..."
Watching the old professor leave, he set foot in the backyard with a group of extraordinary people.
The next person we have to face is the Taoist who entered samadhi on a dragon turtle. Although the future is uncertain, it is obvious that the hostility that occasionally erupted before is much smaller, and the sense of targeting that is like a ray of light on the back is also much weaker. Does this mean that the ill will has subsided?
Xi Mengxiu breathed a sigh of relief and thought to himself: It's hard to say that this matter will be settled today, but there will finally be fewer hidden dangers. While thinking about it, I accidentally glanced in the direction of the dome and seemed to see the sky outside.
Duan Ge suddenly said: "What are you looking at?"
Xi Mengxiu looked back and chuckled: "I'm not...thinking about Taiping Dao. Does anyone know anything about Taiping Dao?"
He also had an idea and remembered Professor Zhou's speculation that Taoists were related to Taiping Dao. If this were the case, I would probably be curious about the Taiping Road in the impressions of those who came after us.
Bai Er and Cang Mou stood in the backyard silently observing and sensing something, their faces becoming more and more solemn. He didn't even pay attention to what the people behind him were saying.
Tang Qinglong thought for a while and said decisively:
"The sky is dead, and the yellow sky should stand. If you are born in Jiazi, the world will be prosperous!"
Song Qingluan looked at his companions strangely and recalled:
"Zhang Jiao, the leader of the Yellow Turban Uprising in the late Han Dynasty and known as a great virtuous teacher, founded Taiping Dao and took the Taiping Jing as his classic. After the Yellow Turban Uprising was suppressed, Taiping Dao spread underground, and most of it was merged into Wu Dou Mi Dao. The remaining The branches should have disappeared in the Northern and Southern Dynasties."
Xun Shouyan glanced at the shadowy figure in the main room in the middle of the backyard (Xi Mengxiu did not enter the back room to recharge the lights), and he was startled and understood. He took two steps forward and explained:
"Taiping Dao is a Taoist teaching school that existed briefly in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Ling of the Han Dynasty, the government was corrupted, land annexation was serious, high-ranking nobles were extravagant, and the common people were in poverty. The local officials were powerful and exploited the people, adding to the Droughts and floods occurred frequently at that time, causing a large number of people to lose their land and become refugees..."
When the refugees came together, the imperial court was unable to contain them due to corruption. The refugees gathered and dispersed, fighting and looting in order to survive, and they became rioters. The rioters raged and brought in new refugees, accompanied by frequent famines and diseases. Zhang Jiao, a Julu man, initially used talismanic spells to cure people's illnesses. He traveled far and wide, recruited many disciples, and used this as a basis for preaching.
It is said that when Zhang Jiao was practicing Taoism in his early years, he met Yu Ji, Zuo Ci, Nanhua Zhenren and others, and was able to pass on the Taiping Jing. After entering the world and preaching, he took the "Taiping Jing" as his classic, and the religious tradition he established was Taiping Dao, and he was known as the Great Sage and Good Teacher.
The ideological essence of the "Taiping Jing" is "to bring peace". According to the summary of "Xiangkai Biography", its content can be simply said to be: serve the heaven and the earth, follow the five elements, rejuvenate the country and promote the succession - it does not contain revolutionary connotations, but in ancient times it was The way to calm the people and govern the country.
After more than ten years of missionary work, which was also a decade when the people were in dire straits, Taiping Taoists have spread all over the world. In the Jiazi year of 184 AD, Zhang Jiao started an uprising with the prophecy that "the sky is dead, and the yellow sky will stand. If you are in Jiazi, the world will be auspicious", he taught the elite soldiers to wear yellow scarves and called them the "Yellow Turban Army".
The Yellow Turban Uprising was so powerful that believers from all over the country gathered in response and wore the Yellow Turban as a symbol of the uprising. Within one month, it swept through most of the Han Empire, but it soon failed under the suppression of Lu Zhi, Zhu Jun, and Huangfu Song, the famous generals in the late Han Dynasty.
Half a year after the Yellow Turban Uprising (August 184), Zhang Jiao died of a sudden illness in Jizhou. His younger brother Zhang Liang continued to lead the Yellow Turbans. In October of the same year, the Yellow Turbans were completely destroyed.
After the fall of the Yellow Turbans, Taiping Tao spread underground and then merged with other Taoist sects. His concepts of magic numbers, spells and other Taoist techniques, as well as clothing and rituals were all inherited by later generations of Taoism.
It is said that Manichaeism (Mingjiao), which flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties, also confirmed that its affiliated group respected Zhang Jiao as its leader.
......
What Xun Shouyan said was very objective, much like a historian's narration, trying to be impartial and not critical.
Xi Mengxiu secretly gave Xun Shouyan a thumbs up. The Taoist priest's summary of this period of history was very good. Even if he searched for encyclopedia information on the Internet, he might not be able to find such a clear, concise and objective description.
Xun Shouyan bowed his head slightly to Xi Mengxiu, and both of them paid careful attention to possible reactions in the hall not far away.
The two Cangmu Baier were trying their best to observe the reality of the target they were going to deal with next. When Xi Mengxiu asked about Taiping Dao just now, these two people were not distracted at all. Others had spoken, but Ge was speechless and he seemed to be unable to say the corresponding content.
"In such a decadent and troubled world, a Taoist traveled around the world for more than ten years, treating illnesses and rescuing people. I don't know how much suffering he has seen in the world. He was called a great sage and good teacher, but he could not relieve the people. I don't know the misery and despair in his heart. Who cares? Woolen cloth......"
Everyone heard the sound and all looked at the swordsman who had been silent for a long time.
"He is just a Taoist. He may be good at preaching, but uprising and rebellion can be called a layman among laymen. Even if his followers are all over the Han Dynasty, once the uprising occurs and the whole country responds, he will be destroyed in less than a year and he will die violently. In the army.”
Xi Mengxiu secretly glanced at Cangmu Bai'er, and saw that the two of them looked shocked, as if they had witnessed some strange feat.
Duan Ge's voice paused for a moment and continued:
"He was already treating illnesses and saving people. Did he really not know his own physical condition? Moreover, he was an accomplished Buddhist, and he died suddenly. How can you say that he was going to die, leading millions of people to be homeless and starved of food? He starved to death out of despair. Going to a death meeting that was almost 90% certain to fail."
"If we can win by chance and overturn the rotten situation, of course we can save the people; if we are defeated, then we can use a desperate and bloody sacrifice to awaken the dying and comatose man; if we still can't wake him up, then Let these sparks all over the world stir up the world with repeated resurgences, sound the clarion call to revolutionize the great Han Dynasty, and serve as the last elegy for the great Han Dynasty that was strong and had many heroes in the past."
In the words of Lu Xun: If there is no torch from now on, I will be the only light. It has a similar meaning to Duan Ge.
Xi Mengxiu was suddenly shocked by Zhang Jiao's suggestion that he would die. After Zhang Jiao had no hope of saving the people, he developed a strong desire to self-destruct...
Duan Ge paused again and then said:
"In my opinion, that Taoist is a hero. He has the common people in mind, holds the sword against the odds, and calmly goes to death without any regrets!"
Then, Duan Ge seemed to be at a loss for words and seemed to have finally finished expressing his views.
Duan Ge's theory of Zhang Jiao's heroism is magnificent and well-founded, which is indeed a rare theory. Everyone looked at him with admiration. They really admired this swordsman who had been silent and cold before, but they never expected that he had such historical knowledge about this period of history.
But before he finished speaking, he continued:
"I know what you mean. You just want to say these closely related words to see if they can seduce the owner of this place."
"However, what I want to say is that Taiping Dao did not exist for a long time. Combined with the style of this cave, this monk who first lived in the late Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period lived step by step until the Tang Dynasty, and then named himself here. Even if this person is Taiping Dao was re-transmitted, at least before the mid-Tang Dynasty, which was more than a thousand years ago. The language habits and pronunciation of words at that time were very different from today. Even if we tell the history of Taiping Dao and evaluate the founders who admired Taiping Dao, The owner of this cave may not understand."
"Although I usually talk less, it doesn't mean that I can't organize my words to make a long speech. A swordsman is used to being direct and decisive, but it doesn't mean that I can't use my brain."
"By the way, what's the name of the Great Sage Master?"
Just when Duan Ge changed his mind and asked the name of the great virtuous master, there was an explosion in the backyard of the cave, and a buzzing sound like an ox humming blew away the half-open rotten wooden door of the room in the middle.
Everyone was shocked, and Bai Er suddenly shouted:
"Be careful! Be alert!"
