AMICITAS Mission Three – Mission Day 82

ARES 3 solar day 84

"found it."

Fireball looked up from the section of landing gear he'd moved in the day before. The storm during their emergency landing tore off the landing gear of the Mark lander and threw it to the bottom edge of the crater northwest of the residential area. This piece of debris, along with dozens of antenna fragments and other miscellaneous bits and pieces, is the product of a large-scale cleaning operation organized by Berry the day before yesterday. Dragonfly confirmed that these components were irreparable, so these parts were carefully and completely disassembled by Fireball to recover the metal materials. "What did you find?" he asked.

"Didn't you notice just now?" Spitfire asked, "when the airlock was pumping out air?"

"What's wrong? Do Berry and Dragonfly want to come in again?" Fireball asked.

"No!" Spitfire said, "Just now! The airflow in the living area changed just now! And when the airlock was empty, it changed back again!"

Fireball just shrugged at that. "Sorry," he said, "but I didn't feel anything."

"Ahem!" Feihuo was helpless and pointed at the No. 1 airlock, "I've been feeling something bothering me recently, and I've been looking for it for several days; but now I know! The problem is Here, it’s airflow!”

After hearing this, Fireball stretched out his small wings and flapped them quickly. His lean torso was slightly stretched, but his legs never left the ground. He finally stopped flapping his wings and said, "I don't feel much difference. Are you sure?"

Spitfire nodded. "Now it is," she said. "I might not have been sure before, but now it's clear. Now we just need to track what's causing the change in the airflow here."

Fireball sighed, pushed his chair away from the workbench, and plowed several new furrows in the soil covering the ground. "Okay then." He said, "How strong is the change in airflow you mentioned? From which direction does it come?"

"You can barely feel it," Spitfire said. "Can't even blow a fallen feather. But I can still feel it."

"Is it possible that the air duct is blocked?" Fireball suggested from the side, "Maybe there is dust or something in the air conditioner?"

"Hmm," Spitfire thought for a while and replied, "I don't think so. That thing feels like... from..." The Pegasus spread its wings, flapped and took off. She still had to flap her wings vigorously to stay aloft, but she was able to control it more easily than before and no longer looked like a frightened hen like she had when they first arrived here. . She made two difficult turns inside the living area before landing on the same spot, "Gan! I can't feel where it came from!" she said, "The wind generated when I flapped my wings directly covered it! "

Fireball carefully walked through the soil, past the rows of plant seedlings and the potatoes buried in the ground that had not yet sprouted. He walked to where Spitfire was standing and said, "Hold your breath." Then he concentrated on his sinuses. Force, trying to force out his dragon breath from there...

Only a wisp of gray smoke drifted out of his nostrils. This wisp of smoke slowly moved in the air, spreading outward until it was sucked in by one of the nine air inlets of the air conditioner. Spitfire observed the smoke, carefully avoiding the edge of the slow plume, and finally shook his head. "It still doesn't work," she said. "I can't see it. But I can still feel it."

Fireball just shrugged and extinguished his own flames. The smoke stopped quickly and was sucked clean by the air conditioner's filtering device.

"You still don't believe what I say, right?" Feihuo asked with a sullen face.

"It's not a question of whether I believe you or not." Fireball said, "I just don't know what to do."

"But... but... uh!" Spitfire stomped on the soil next to him, "All my instincts are telling me that something is wrong!"

"Not bad." Fireball said softly.

"What did you say?!" In an instant, Feihuo was pressed against the dragon's face, flapping its wings frantically to maintain an unstable hover, and shouted breathlessly at him, "You *huff* said that* What does huff* mean?”

Fireball just carefully put a claw on her head and pushed her back to the ground. "My gut always tells me everything is fine," he said. "I always try to ignore it. But if your gut tells you something is wrong, listen." He smiled slightly and continued, "Better than Follow my instincts and I will trust you more."

Feihuo folded his wings again and thought carefully. After that, she ran all the way to the space suit storage area, put her helmet on her head, and said, "Berry, this is Spitfire."

"Feihuo, please tell me something." Berry's voice came through the space suit's communication system.

"When you and Dragonfly come back from the cave later," she said, "can you come in through airlock three? The one next to the spacecraft?"

"Uh...of course, Feihuo." Berry's voice was full of confusion, "Do you want us to come back now? We haven't gone far yet."

"No need." Feihuo said, "I'll explain it to you when you come back. But for now, just humor me and make me happy for a while, okay?"

"I've been doing this all the time." Tingting interjected, "But you've never smiled."

"Ding Ting, now is not the time for joking." Berry cleared her throat, raised her voice and said over the radio, "Understood, Spitfire. Let's go in through the back door when we go home. See you during lunch break."

"Copy that," Spitfire replied, "Splitfire communication ended." She put the helmet back on her spacesuit and said, "This should be fine for now..."

There was a brief hissing sound from the direction of Airlock One. The sound disappeared within a few seconds, leaving only the noise from the operation of various equipment in the Mark base echoing in the residential area.

"...It's happened..." It took a while before she came to her senses.

"Awesome," Fireball muttered. "I guess our airlock might be fine now." He shook his head and walked back to the pile of landing gear. At least he could figure out how to take nuts and bolts apart.

"Why do you think she did that?" Tingting asked.

"I don't know." Berry replied, "But she is definitely...Gan, look over there."

Dragonfly turned around. "Oh, that's just a dust devil," she said. "We encounter things like this all day long in our insect nest."

However, the two space horses from the Changeling Space Program still stopped and looked at the tiny and slender stream. They could only barely see it by relying on the interaction between the light and fine dust particles it carried and the sand on the surface below. The whirlwind of existence, swaying and rotating towards the residential area, is constantly attracted by the micro-climate zone formed by the waste heat generated by the inflatable base. The closer it got to the residential area, the faster it moved; until it completely fell apart, dumping the large amount of silt it carried almost directly on top of the No. 1 airlock.

In that short moment, ripples appeared on the canvas of the residential area, and then everything returned to its original calm.

After this exciting action scene, the earth ponies and changelings turned around again and continued hiking towards the cave farm.
