My Little Pony: My Little Pony The Martian
Chapter 85 Solar Days 144 and 147
AMICITAS Mission Three – Mission Day 144
ARES 3 solar day 144
[08:48] JPL: Ha, Mark, I’ve been in a good mood lately. We forwarded the "soil" sample analysis report you completed last time to the astromaterials department, and they only took a glance and told us that this report should be the responsibility of the medical department. The results couldn't be more obvious; if you really collected this soil sample from the surface of Mars, it only means that you can easily go anywhere on the surface of Mars and survive unexpectedly. Okay, enough of the jokes, let’s get back to the topic: where are the soil samples we want?
[09:04] Watney: You identified the ingredients, but you guessed the source wrong. This lump was actually pulled by a fireball, so in theory the correct name should be "Dragon Relic". Now please tell the Department of Astromaterials and Medicine to let them re-analyze these data, because I really can’t figure out why an organism that feeds entirely on silicon oxide would produce excrement with a dehydrated carbon content of more than 80%.
[09:20] JPL: Indeed, I also find this situation a bit strange. I'm sure no one here has ever studied the digestive tract of a creature with the ability to transform elements. How about giving your friends a complete medical check-up? At least you can ask their opinion first.
[09:40] Watney: We're always here, and we see all the messages you send. Just ask us directly. ——Flying Fire
[09:57] JPL: Hello, Spitfire. My English has improved a lot recently. We want you to cooperate with Mark to weigh yourself, take some measurements, and collect some samples by the way, so that we can have a basic understanding of your physical health. Do you agree?
[10:18] Watney: I asked my superiors. She said yes. You're in luck. ——Flying Fire
[10:19] Watney: Great, now I have to collect everyone’s poop for chemical analysis.
[10:21] Watney: If you can find me, you’re awesome! ——Diao Ting
[10:22] Watney: I think it’s best if I don’t participate in this scavenger hunt.
[10:40] JPL: Am I overthinking this, or are there too many people speaking now?
[10:47] HERMES: At least it’s not our fault this time! ——Johnson

Topic: To my fellow commanders
I asked Dr. Shields for your email address so I could have an opportunity to communicate with you directly. First of all, let me ask you a question, how is Mark doing? He has always been the thorn in my team members. He always has some ideas of his own that he wants to put into practice, and even if some of his ideas are really good, in the end he still has to find a way to convince him to continue completing the task at hand without damaging his enthusiasm. Of course, as an excellent joker, his weird remarks are also very troublesome. He didn't mean to be rude, but let's put it this way, there was no way he would have lasted long in any disciplined environment. I hope he hasn't caused you too much trouble lately.
To be honest, I am writing this letter to you now because I miss my sixth player so much. On Sol 6, Mark Watney was supposed to evacuate Mars with the rest of us. His unexpected stay on Mars is great news for you and your crew, but leaving him behind still makes me feel guilty. It was my mission and responsibility to ensure that he left this planet safely, and for whatever reason, I failed to do so. I really tried my best and couldn't think of any better solution, but the point is that Mark is not with us now, but is trapped on Mars with you. I was derelict in my duty.
We should all understand that a spacecraft commander has a very heavy responsibility. The team members around us are top talents who are highly skilled, determined, and have their own unique ideas, plans and expectations, but we must find ways to radiate the vitality, enthusiasm and cooperative spirit of the team. You must ensure that you always put the needs of your team members first, even at the expense of your own personal interests. You need to correct them, regulate them, encourage them, and support them to go beyond their limits.
But don’t forget, leaders don’t do it alone. Since we left Mars, not only have I been thinking about my crew, but they have been thinking about me. The hallmark of a good team is the ability of its members to support each other. Yes, they do expect the commander to give them the goals and spiritual strength to move forward, but they will not hesitate to support you when necessary.
By the way, how is your flight simulation training going? I guess the control system of our spacecraft must be very different from yours. I very much hope to see the internal structure of your spacecraft in person. Judging from the photos Mark sent, this spacecraft must have been a beautiful masterpiece before it crashed, and I believe you will still be proud of it. Your landing technique is also extremely superb and definitely deserves praise. I have never seen any human pilot be able to complete such an emergency landing with everyone surviving under the circumstances.
If you have time, please reply to me. I'd like to get a sense of what our ship's systems look like from your perspective.

Sorry for my bad English. I am a slow typer. Starlight helps.
Mark is good. He tried to take care of us. He would say a lot of things we couldn't understand. I guess those were jokes, I don't know.
Not the same, you and me. You want to direct. I just want to fly. In our place, we have princesses who will conduct. It's just me here.
Mark was very helpful. We followed his orders most of the time in the hab. My other team members also helped. Sometimes I wish they were less helpful.
Piloting your ship is difficult. The navigation system is completely different. You have too many systems and they don’t work together on their own. I think your machines work better, but are not as well built as ours. What we build must work, every time, otherwise we wouldn't fly.
One of the main things I found was that we would use all the power and all the rockets our mission could possibly require. You guys seem to be trying to use the least amount of power and rockets and so on, and then hope nothing goes wrong.
Thank you for your letter. I will write again.

I have a question: What you just mentioned is the "Chongchongma Space Program"? Don't you work for your own country's space agency?

When we first started flying in space, the Equestrian Space Agency only hired Pegasus as pilots. The Bug Ponies were the only ones worthy enough to try out as Earth Pony pilots. We succeeded too. Now all the space agencies are working together. But I'm still very proud of what we did at Bugs Horse Space Program.
