Hollow Knight: Hallownest

Chapter 356: Deep Nest and the Princess

In the dark cave, the bait puppet only appeared for a few breaths before it suddenly changed shape and shrank back into the darkness.

Then, a series of muffled sounds like sharp cones hitting the rock wall began to echo in their ears.

Delia frowned, and the others also had gloomy looks.

This pitch-dark environment almost became a natural barrier for the predators that were about to attack. They couldn't see and knew nothing about the terrain, so it would be difficult for them to resist.

"Return the same way, quickly!"

The muffled sound was getting closer. Delia picked up a nearby stone and threw it in the direction of the sound while retreating backwards.

Now only the way here is relatively clear. If it is delayed for too long, I am afraid...

rumble--!

Delia's face changed and she turned around quickly, seeing the rising dust blowing towards them. She thought to herself that it was not good, the predator was so cunning, knocking on the rock wall and using the rubble to cover the way they came.

"The way here has been blocked. Everyone, be careful and try to work together to kill it!"

Having said that, for the next period of time they could only rely on sound to determine their position to resist the attacks from the darkness. Fortunately, the predator would make a lot of noise before each attack, always accompanied by a gust of wind, but it was also very agile, attacking and running away, without ever falling to the ground.

"Drea, this is not a solution. Although this thing is not a threat, the noise it makes is not small at all. I'm afraid..."

Gravel continued to fall like rain, and Zemor looked worried, fearing that the movement here would attract other unknown creatures and even destroy their plans.

Ida and Kuiruo remained silent, but kept looking for a way to break the impasse. However, without their eyes, they could not even use 50% of their abilities.

The situation seemed to be at a stalemate, with neither side able to kill the other but unwilling to give up, until a ball of fire suddenly ignited in the air for no reason.

Although the light emitted by the fist-sized flame was weak, it was like a bright lamp lighting up the hearts of the insects. They all raised their heads and looked at the not-so-wide surroundings illuminated by the flames.

Black silk threads were wrapped around corpses of varying sizes. Some were indigenous people, while others were dressed as local residents. They were hanging lifelessly in the air, which made them feel nauseous.

"I've seen corpses before, but this is the first time I've seen corpses hanging in the air like dried meat..."

Ida took a look and then looked away. In the dense forest composed of silk threads and corpses in the sky, there was a hideous and twisted figure shuttling through it. It looked like a spider but had wings. It looked strange, and its head was actually the corpse they had seen before.

"He tried to destroy the flame!"

Zemor let out a light shout, and just as he raised the huge bone nail to prepare to draw a gust of wind, three figures passed by him. Looking up, he saw that Drya, Quiro and Ida had already moved to the side of Nosk. The three bone nails seemed to be controlled by one hand and fell at the same time, not giving the latter any chance to breathe.

Clang——!

The three bone nails collided with each other, then retracted and fell back to Zemor's side.

Gulu... She looked down and saw that it was the bait puppet that had just lured them in, but the bones under its cloak had been broken into two pieces.

"The thunder is loud but the rain is small. It can only do evil in such a place. Killing it today is considered a good deed."

Delia glanced at him and ignored him. She moved her eyes to a cave diagonally above and said, "Sir, please lend us a hand. Please meet us and have a chat!"

As soon as the flame appeared, she found an extremely thin silk thread stringing the torches together at its tail. She thought that some insect must have discovered them and offered help.

These words were a test, because she didn't know whether the insect would leave after doing these things. But after these words fell, a corner of the bright red skirt slowly emerged from the cave shrouded in darkness.

Delia's eyes widened, and Zemor exclaimed in surprise. After all, they never expected to meet her here.

"Little Princess?!"

Quiro and Ida looked up curiously when they heard the title, and following their gaze, they saw Bumblebee in a red dress looking at each of them.

Little princess? When did the king have a princess?

Ida frowned, but couldn't remember it. However, since the two knights admitted it themselves, it must be true, so he bowed and said, "Greetings, Princess!"

"What are you doing here? Don't you know it's dangerous here?"

Drya took a step forward, looked at Bumblebee and said loudly: "Little Princess, we are carrying out the Queen's orders and have a heavy responsibility. We really have no choice but to do this. And why are you here, Princess?"

Not many people know Bumblebee's life story, and everyone keeps it secret, even the Five Knights are unaware.

"Don't worry about me. Tell me what your mission is?"

Bumblebee leaped down, passed Ida and Quiro and stood in front of Delia, who bowed and said, "By the Queen's order, bring back the body of Hera the Dreamer."

As soon as these words came out, Bumblebee's aura suddenly became fierce. She turned her head and said without emotion: "You guys go."

Delia was shocked by this change and thought she had said something wrong, but looking back she couldn't find the reason: "Why?"

"You can't take her away..." Without even turning his head, Bumblebee took out the bone needle and threw it towards the cave from which she came. He then jumped lightly and pulled her away again. His agile posture made them stare at him with surprise.

"And I won't let you take her away."

This sentence does carry some emotion, as if there is an unrelieved sadness.

Drya didn't understand the meaning behind it, but she understood the superficial meaning of Bumblebee's words, and hurriedly said, "Princess, please stay! Do you know where Hera's body is?"

Seeing that Bumblebee didn't respond, she gritted her teeth and followed him without thinking, using the help of the wall. But just as she was about to step into the cave, a bone needle hit her neck.

"I said, I won't let you take her away."

Bumblebee raised his head, his eyes gray and full of anger, and growled in a low voice: "That guy killed my mother, and now he wants to take her away, what a wishful thinking!"

Delia was stunned when she saw this, and then she fell silent.

She knew that Bumblebee was not referring to the queen, and she had never expected that Hera was the mother of the little princess.

"Take them back and pretend we've never seen them."

Bumblebee's voice was determined and exhausted. He put away the bone needle and walked deeper.

Seeing her back about to merge into the darkness, Delia clenched her hands and hurriedly said, "Princess, calm down!"

"The Queen has a way to wake up your mother!"
