Hollow Knight: Hallownest

Chapter 4 Alley Tavern

Seeing Mo Rong walk out of the house safe and sound, the insect he was talking to was quite surprised.

Seeing Mo Rong walking back to him, he hurriedly approached him and asked curiously:

"Are you okay?"

"You hope something happens to me?" Mo Rong replied angrily.

"No way, just seeing that brother can walk out without incident, he must have extraordinary abilities." The insect knew that he had said the wrong thing and said with a smile.

"Brother, we have just talked so much, and I still don't know your name. My name is Ida." Ida stretched out her hand.

"Morong." Murong didn't care about what he just said and shook hands with him.

"Brother, how did you do that?" Seeing that Mo Rong was not angry with him, Ida pointed at the house secretly.

"Ahem, everyone, look here. Let me tell you what to pay attention to during this shipment." Just at this time, the housekeeper came out of the house and said to everyone in the hall.

Seeing the housekeeper come out of the room, Mo Rong also looked forward seriously. When Ida saw the housekeeper coming out, she didn't want to continue questioning.

"The freight this time is also on the old route, and the destination is a green area. The journey is expected to take one day and one night. Please pack your things and gather here at this time tomorrow. We will not wait if you are late."

After speaking, the butler added:

"I wish you all good luck and let's disband."

After saying that, everyone in the hall dispersed in twos and threes and went to prepare their luggage.

Ida saw Mo Rong who was still in place and leaned over.

"Brother, let's get together? I'd like to have someone to look after me on the way."

After hearing this, Mo Rong thought that it was good. He really needed a companion. First, as Ida said, if something unexpected happened on the road, they could take care of each other. Second, he needed to know more about Hallownest at this time. .

"Okay." Mo Rong responded readily.

Ida also smiled after hearing this, hooked her hand on Mo Rong, hugged him and walked out.

At this time, the sky outside was gradually getting darker.

Mo Rong looked up at the sky, and an idea popped into his head.

Hallownest is built underground. Logically speaking, there should be no distinction between day and night, but the color of the sky changes with time, which is really strange.

"Let's go, buddy, I'll treat you to a drink tonight, to celebrate your first shipment." Murong was lost in thought, and Ida didn't care whether he agreed or not, and pulled him to the other side.

After a long detour, Mo Rong finally saw the place where Ida said she was going to invite him to drink.

It was a tavern located in an alley. There was only a solitary light fly lantern at the door, and there wasn't even a decent notice board. There were only a few big words "Alley Tavern" written on a piece of gray cloth next to it.

Ida pointed to that and said:

"No, we're here."

After saying that, he walked towards the tavern. After opening the door, the desertedness that Mo Rong imagined did not arrive. Instead, it formed a great contrast with the silence outside. There were no empty seats inside, and every table was filled. The sight of wine glasses and barrels, and the noisy birds and doves gathering together makes people want to drink two glasses of wine.

Ida turned to Mo Rong and smiled:

"This place is nice, let's go, let me introduce you to the boss here." With that, the two of them walked towards the counter inside.

There was a busy figure behind the counter, taking something from inside. The figure seemed to be wrapped in bushes, but the green bushes were already slightly yellowish.

"Mrs. Boss, are you still busy?" Ida's voice was much louder. There was nothing I could do about it. If it wasn't louder in this noisy environment, I might not be able to hear clearly.

When the landlady heard someone calling her from behind, she stopped what she was busy doing, turned around and responded:

"Here you come? What would you like to drink?"

At this time, Mo Rong also saw clearly the appearance of the landlady. Except for her head, waist and feet, everything else was wrapped by unknown plants. She had a very kind smile and slightly wrinkled eyes.

"Madam boss, the guy next to me will also be selling goods in Woou starting tomorrow. Come and have two glasses of 'Yunjiu'."

The landlady said hello, turned around and walked towards the back of the house on the side.

"What is that 'drinking' you just mentioned?"

"'Liquor Transport', after all, it only exists because of us."

"we?"

"It's our freight business. I also told you that our business is dangerous. Some people may not come back after one trip, but people found out~" Ida came closer and said mysteriously.

"People who came to this pub to drink before shipping the goods have come back many times. Nothing happened!"

"So gradually the business of this tavern got better, and this wine gradually became known as 'Yunjiu'. Drinking it will bring you good luck!" Ida gave a thumbs up.

"Really?" Morong looked at Das suspiciously.

"Of course it's true, and the wine is delicious!" Ida saw the proprietress walking towards them with two large glasses of wine, her eyes shining.

"Now, the wine you asked for." The landlady put the two glasses of wine on the table. There was a 'dong' sound, and some wine spilled on the counter. Mo Rong smelled it, and there was some astringent aroma of grass.

"Cheng Hui, a Geo."

Although Ida said to treat him to a drink, Morong didn't intend to let him do it. As he said that, he just wanted to hand the Gio that he had begged for earlier to the landlady.

The lady boss saw Mo Rong taking out the money and said to him with a smile:

"This little brother, you don't need to give it~"

Mo Rong stopped looking for money, looked at the landlady, and said seriously:

"Although I don't have much money when I first come here, if you want to buy my heart with a glass of wine, it's still not enough."

After hearing this, the landlady couldn't help but be stunned, and then laughed and cursed:

"Here comes another bastard. Where are you thinking? The rule of our pub is that the first drink for new arrivals is free."

"Oh, I thought the boss lady liked me."

The landlady smiled and shook her head, turned around and went back to what she was doing.

"Come on, brother, cheers! I wish our shipment goes smoothly!" Ida raised the glass and touched it to Mo Rong.

Mo Rong also picked up the wine glass and touched it, and then drank it in one gulp. This was the first time for Mo Rong to drink this green wine. The wine rolled in Mo Rong's mouth along with the hops, and slid into his throat, smelling something that he had smelled before. The astringent aroma exploded on his taste buds with the bubbles, refreshing!

Speaking of which, this wine glass is really big. Even though Mo Rong filled it in one gulp, he only drank one-tenth of it. The taste was also very unique, making people unable to stop drinking.

"How about this? You're right here, right?" Ida looked at Mo Rong proudly, and Mo Rong also gave a thumbs up.

"Ida, is this landlady a green person?" Murong looked at the back of the landlady.

"You know all this??" Ida looked at him in surprise.

Mo Rong pointed to the green colors on the landlady's body and said, "Isn't this obvious?"

Ida came to her senses and patted her head.

"Yes, but it's not easy for people who have never been to Green Green to think of it. Have you been there before?"

"I saw it in the book." Mo Rong casually prevaricated, picked up the wine glass and took two more sips.

"This landlady was not in this city before." As soon as Mo Rong heard about the gossip, he went to Ida to talk about it.

"I have inquired before. The landlady was originally the daughter of a winemaker from Canglu, but she didn't want to stay in that wine shop all her life, so she went out on her own to take risks. I heard she was quite famous a few years ago. But now I don’t know why I opened a tavern here, maybe it’s because I’m old.” Ida said slowly.

Listening to Ida's story, Mo Rong's appetite was also whetted. He drank several sips of wine, and the wine glass was about to reach the bottom.

After Ida finished speaking, she looked at Mo Rong aside and saw that his wine glass was almost empty, so she said teasingly:

"Mo Rong, actually 'carrying wine' has another meaning, do you know?"

Seeing the expression on Ida's face, Mo Rong suddenly felt something bad.

"What do you mean?"

"As the name suggests, 'drunk', the wine is very strong." Ida winked at Mo Rong.

"Damn! You didn't tell me earlier. You are such a..." Mo Rong felt that his head was already a little dizzy, and he fell asleep on the wine table before he finished speaking.

"You didn't even ask."

Looking at Mo Rong who was drunk, Ida laughed and said:

"Lady boss, have another drink!"
