Can the sadness that magic cannot take away be offset by love?

Chapter 12: Night Around the Hearth·Act 2 (4) (page 12)

Ryland and Vincent looked at each other, and they sighed almost at the same time.

"Then I can only pray that Mr. Wizard or Miss will be a little more responsible tomorrow for Mr. Sage like me who takes the overall situation into consideration."

"Maybe you won't survive until tomorrow, Mr. Undercover. It's obvious that you are the impostor with the fake ID card. If you are thrown out, the wizard card will be extremely safe tonight."

Faced with Ryland's "hard talk", Miss Vincent was unwilling to show weakness, and the two started a new round of dispute.

Then, Aecilia said calmly:

"What you both said makes sense. What do Mr. Lucius and Miss Smith think? I'm not very familiar with these two sages, so I can only listen to your judgment as friends."

Lucius said in a relaxed tone:

"I don't know. Mr. Leland has always been very clever and has very good acting skills. He doesn't even need to draft any lies. If he had taken the undercover card at the beginning, he would pretend to be a sage and use the real sage to gain an advantage for himself. It’s not impossible to fight him to death.”

Miss Smith's tone was rather hesitant:

"Vincent is very smart and very good at judging what is best for herself... She never feels guilty when she lies to others. Sometimes I can't tell the truth from the lie."

Aecilia did not listen carefully to what they said, but asked directly:

"Then who will you vote for later?"

Lucius said without hesitation:

"Of course Miss Vincent."

Miss Smith glanced at him and continued decisively:

"I vote for Vincent too."

Then the four people turned their attention to Aecilia.

Aecilia said seriously:

"One to three, thank you for respecting me, but my opinion is no longer important. I choose to follow the crowd and vote for Miss Vincent."

Miss Vincent suddenly opened her beautiful eyes and said in disbelief:

"That's the decision? Why?"

Ryland exhaled softly, and spoke gracefully with a smile on his face:

"Miss Vincent, can I treat you to a meal after you go out? You can come together and we can play games together when we have time."

……

At five o'clock in the afternoon, 036 opened the door to the living room on time, and his long, smooth black hair fluttered slightly in the air as he approached. He stood still in front of the long table, his sharp eyebrows quietly swept across the quiet audience, and he spoke coldly:

"It's time to vote."

He raised his hand, and five black balls of light each rose in front of the five people, and then enveloped them.

Aecilia found herself in a closed space. She could only see four photos with familiar faces in front of her. They were Lucius, Smith, Vincent, and Ryland. Under the photos were written numbers 1 and 2 respectively. No. 3 and 4.

Four green buttons with numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 were fixed on the table in front of her, and a piece of text appeared in front of her:

No one can vote for themselves.

The candidates on the photo correspond to the numbers under the photo one-to-one. At the moment when the one-minute countdown ends, which candidate the button you press corresponds to which candidate you voted for. The voting target can be changed at any time before the countdown ends.

All voting for this copy is conducted anonymously.

Aecilia leaned back in her chair and stared at the four photos in front of her, silent.

A minute later, in the blink of an eye, Aecilia returned to the soft chair in the living room. She noticed something and looked towards the end of the long table. Invigilator 036 was sitting at the head of the long table, with part of her long hair scattered. On to the handle of the soft chair. His expressionless face looked extremely inhumane. He didn't give the candidates much time to look at him. He raised his head, looked at everyone with his stunning amber eyes, and said in a deep voice:

“Now the voting results are announced.

"No. 1 Lucius has zero votes, No. 2 Smith has zero votes, No. 3 Vincent has three votes, No. 4 Leyland has one vote, and No. 5 Green has zero votes. The final elimination person in this voting is No. 3 Vincent. Eliminated candidates are asked to temporarily return to the room to wait for resurrection or the end of the instance. They are not allowed to leave the room during the waiting period. Special staff will serve three meals at seven o'clock, twelve o'clock, and nineteen o'clock every day."

The end result was what everyone expected, but what was unexpected was the process.

"Only four votes in total?"

Lucius asked doubtfully.

“Who else didn’t vote?”

Leyland scanned the entire audience. Everyone's expressions ranged from confusion to indifference, and he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

The indifferent Miss Vincent chuckled:

"It's a pity that I can't continue playing... I wish everyone a happy game. But it would be best if the pharmacist could resurrect me."

She raised her skirt and saluted everyone, and followed the invigilator who stood up to leave as soon as the results were announced.

The remaining four people watched them leave, and then looked at each other in confusion.

Miss Smith frowned and said:

"I can't abandon the vote."

Aecilia also nodded and said:

"Neither can I do it here."

Lucius's mouth twitched:

"Who is acting? It can't be Vincent himself who abstains from voting, right? And then someone among the people who originally planned to vote for Vincent temporarily changed their vote and voted for Leyland?"

Aecilia smiled and said:

"Do you believe these words yourself?"

Ryland said thoughtfully:

"I can't abandon my vote. First of all, let me ask you, everyone can't abandon their vote, right?"

The other three people nodded honestly, with as sincere eyes as possible. Rylander raised his hand to cover his eyes for a while, took a deep breath, closed his eyes and said:

"It's also possible that it's not that you abstained from voting, but that you were unable to vote in the first place..."

The four of them stayed there in silence for a while, then Aecilia spoke softly:

"Perhaps it's for the sake of copy balance? Which identity card needs to be restricted to this extent..."

Everyone had their own thoughts in their hearts. No one spoke for a moment. Lucius waved his hand and said:

"Forget it, let's all rest for a while."

As soon as his voice changed, he asked with a smile:

"Are we going to have steamed sea bass and stewed lamb tonight? Also, who will accompany Miss Smith to talk about the roses here and that...perfume formula? I don't remember."

"Rose flowers inspire new fragrance recipes."

Ryland said calmly.

"I have a good memory, so this great task will be left to you."

Lucius looked at him encouragingly.

Ryland was stuck for a while and said:

"I don't know much about this..."

Fortunately, at this moment, Smith calmly interjected to save Leyland, who was in a dilemma:

"Then let's talk about something else. Mr. Lucius doesn't seem to need help. Aecilia, will you come too?"

So the three of them sat at the dinner table and started chatting about household matters, leaving Lucius alone in the kitchen diligently moving bricks.
