Hogwarts: Atypical Slytherin

Chapter 12 Potions Lesson (Page 12)

Not knowing what kind of potion Ms. Poppy left behind, Clooney quickly fell asleep yesterday and had a dreamless night. At this moment, she felt that her head was very clear, and what she read before going to bed last night seemed to be imprinted on her head. She said goodbye to Madam Pomfrey and headed to the Great Hall for breakfast.

Today, the Slytherin students reacted even more silently when they saw her than yesterday.

She ate breakfast in silence, and ate one more caramel pudding than usual.

"Let's go together? Are you feeling better today?" Cedric waited for her at the door of the auditorium. "I guess you may need someone to accompany you today."

"Thank you Cedric, I'm much better. I saw your card." Clooney rolled her eyes. She didn't dare to smile, but as long as she didn't pull her muscles greatly, her My face no longer hurts.

"Porto Bedifen, Miss. A mixed race." A brown-haired boy with slightly bulging cheeks said, "I saw your fierce fight yesterday, and I have to say, you are so cool. I I can’t stand the Slytherins’ bad habit of talking too much.”

Clooney shook hands with him: "I'm Clooney Albert, nice to meet you."

Another boy with a prickly head scratched his head and said shyly: "Cru Rich, it's an honor to meet you, miss. Your deeds have been spread in our college."

"Nice to meet you, Richie."

The four of them walked side by side towards the Potions classroom.

The four of them arrived early, and there was no one in the classroom yet. Cedric took them to find a very front seat. Clooney sat on the dividing line between Hufflepuff and Slytherin. He took out his book and reviewed the content of today's class with Cedric. .

The Potions teacher is the head of Slytherin and one of the main tasks in dealing with the dispute yesterday: Severus Snape. He was still dressed in all black like yesterday. He strode into the classroom, then stopped for a moment and stood on the podium. The robe behind him continued to sway like water with the moving wind. As soon as the class time came, he immediately looked around the students sternly, took out the roll call and started calling the students.

"Claudine Albert." Cronie was the first one to be called.

"Here, Professor." Crowney raised his hand.

Snape stared at her for what seemed like only a moment, and then continued to name her. Some Hufflepuffs were so frightened by Snape's sudden explosion that they even responded tremblingly.

After Professor Snape finished calling the names, he slammed the register shut, quickly placed it on the table, and then crossed his arms across his chest. The little animals were frozen in place as if they had been collectively cast a mute spell, each sitting there stiffly like an owl facing extreme fear.

Then Snape spoke. His voice was not loud, but it was exceptionally clear, and his enunciation was very clear: "You are here to learn the precise science and rigorous craftsmanship of potion preparation. Since there is no foolish waving of wands here, there are many of you. People won’t believe this is magic. I don’t expect you to truly understand the beauty of the slowly simmering cauldron emitting white smoke and bursting with fragrance. You won’t truly understand the heart-stirring liquid that flows into people’s blood vessels. The miraculous magic power of ecstasy and blurred will... I can teach you how to increase your reputation, brew glory, and even prevent death - but there must be one thing, that is, you must not be the stupid fools I often encounter."

After saying this opening statement, he leaned on the edge of the podium and suddenly spoke in the silence.

"Miss Albert!" Snape called Crowney's name, "If I asked you to find a piece of bezoar, where would you look for it?"

No one expected Snape's sudden question, but Clooney quickly stood up. Her heart was beating fast because of the professor's fright, but she didn't panic at all.

"In the stomach of a cow, Professor."

Snape's face was calm, and Clooney couldn't tell whether he was satisfied with the answer-but he didn't stop asking, and immediately asked the next question.

"What if I asked you to find a bezoar?"

"In the goat's stomach, Professor."

"So - what's the difference between Aconitum scapularis and Aconitum wolfsbane?"

Clooney paused and replied with some uncertainty: "They, they are different names for the same plant. Generally, we call them Aconitum?"

"What is the function of white fresh food?"

Professor Snape gradually walked to Claudia's side, which made her even more nervous. She could only stare directly at a marble button on the tall professor's shirt.

"It is a powerful healing and restorative herb that can restore and heal superficial wounds."

The professor with the silent skill raised his eyebrows and continued to ask: "What does blackroot look like? What does it do?"

"It is a plant with black stems and white flowers. It is very powerful and effective because it can neutralize spells long after it is eaten."

Snape asked no more questions: "Very well, Miss Albert."

"Five points to Slytherin for Miss Albert's answer." He looked him up and down, then laughed maliciously. "I hope that before you take any action next time, you will remember to move your rigid brain and let it function normally! Instead of letting it sit there like a trick!"

"Sit down, Albert! You don't need to stand up when you answer questions!"

Crowney heard a faint chuckle coming from the Slytherin corner.

Snape pressed her shoulder gently, then turned to yell at the others: "Do you all know the answer? Why don't you write it all down? Use your brains!"

The laughter was immediately covered up by the sound of hurried writing and turning of books.

The potions class was extremely long. Snape carefully introduced the potions utensils and how to use them. There was a strict distinction between which utensils had what uses.

"It does look a bit like chemistry," Clowney thought. "But what is 'chemistry'?"

She didn't have time to think about the new words with unfamiliar pronunciations that suddenly popped into her head, so she quickly pulled her thoughts back and continued listening to the lecture. Snape just talked about the specific use of brass scales.

I don't know how long it took before he stopped teaching. After the last student stopped recording, he asked the students to try to prepare a simple potion for scabies according to the methods and recipes in the textbook. The students worked in pairs and began to try making potions for the first time.

Clooney took the tentacled slugs aside with gloves and steamed them all. Wait for Cedric to weigh the dried nettles, snake fangs and porcupine quills, and then together with Cedric, crush the snake fangs to pieces with a mortar. She carefully followed the instructions in the book and added them to the crucible in order. Five minutes later, she took the crucible away from the flame, and Cedric threw the porcupine quills in smoothly.

Beautiful pink smoke gradually rose from the crucible.

After the potion cooled down, Cedric carefully poured the prepared potion into the potion bottle.

Snape stood aside, picked up the potion for treating boils, looked left and right, opened the bottle cap, smelled it, and put it away.
