A leisurely life that begins with the possession of a game character

Chapter 1000: Play or Not Play the Game of Life

Since there are necessary operating conditions for the release of game skills, it is normal that in real life, the skills that Zhang Lan uses with the help of the game panel cannot be seen or used by others.

But in this case, under certain conditions in this world, if someone can achieve a similar situation as Zhang Lan when he casts magic, does it mean that this person can operate with similar magic principles?

Thinking of this, Zhang Lan thought of the so-called myths in ancient legends, and conversely, the immortality pursued by countless heroes from ancient times to the present.

No one is a fool. If there were no real and actual things to prove their theories, there wouldn't be so many people who believe in it so completely.

In recent years, AI and artificial intelligence have become increasingly popular. Part of the reason is that it is very interesting to observe a virtual universe from its birth to its evolution, from the birth of life to the generation of intelligence. Repeated simulations may reveal a variety of evolutionary results.

Along with the evolution of the virtual universe, the evolution of AI is essentially similar to the evolutionary learning algorithm of current artificial intelligence. Through repeated evolution we can obtain better AI models. Isn’t this automatic learning? Such AI models may be used to solve some more valuable problems in the future.

The evolution of AI has brought us more references and thoughts. Virtual intelligence will also create a variety of art, science, superstition, politics, religion, war, etc. at various stages of their development, and there will be all kinds of interesting innovations and creativity.

The creations of these civilizations are also meaningful to higher civilizations. Observing and studying the various evolutionary phenomena and history of the virtual AI society is like observing a rich treasure trove of civilization.

Such virtual evolution may also help us seek answers to some cosmic knowledge. Running an evolving virtual world is actually accelerating the simulation of the evolution of the real world. Our observation of AI behavior is obviously of great help in understanding the future development of civilization.

So if we put ourselves in other people’s shoes, and if humans will be interested in creating and observing virtual worlds in the future, we can also assume that higher-level intelligence will have similar behaviors.

The universe we live in is huge. In the future, human civilization may not lack matter, energy, space, or time, but it will most likely lack fellow civilized people.

The Fermi paradox may be reminding us that human civilization will be completely alone in the universe in the future.

We don’t know why we are locked in this world without other people. Perhaps the Three-Body Civilization has covered the visible universe with curvature waves and limited the upper limit of the cosmic speed to the speed of light to permanently imprison the Earth civilization.

Perhaps human civilization is playing a single-civilization virtual game, and we are isolated and observed in a separate evolutionary group.

But one thing is almost certain: no matter how large the environment left for us to explore, if humans develop long enough in the future, our science will eventually encounter the fundamental and insurmountable wall of rules of this world.

Just like the NPC in a virtual game can never jump to the keyboard, science will encounter a rule-level ceiling that can never be crossed. It may be a spatial distance that cannot be crossed, a microscopic limit that can no longer be disassembled, a mysterious boundary between the subjective and objective worlds, or a higher space-time dimension that cannot be touched by humans. It may even be to the point where the mathematics that humans trust most is powerless. That is the real boundary.

From this perspective, it doesn’t matter whether humans are imprisoned in a virtual space-time or not. The so-called imprisonment is just the difference in the size of the cell, just like criminals are imprisoned in prison, but free people are imprisoned on Earth.

So, what should humans do if they cannot develop? What is the meaning of survival?

This question can also be used to interrogate an NPC in an online game that no longer has any players: You are just a passerby NPC at the crossroads. The purpose of your existence here no longer exists. No one is maintaining this system, it is just running silently. Your existence is meaningless to the creators, and the creators may have even forgotten that there is a system that has not been shut down. So what can you do?

Civilization will not easily fall. Even when faced with a cliff, civilization will naturally know how to find the meaning of existence within itself. Give civilization to the years, not years to civilization.

In the vast universe, the existence of civilization itself is its meaning, and the passage of time of civilization is the continuous proof of its own significance.

Even if civilization is unable to explore outward, it does not prevent civilization from continuing to explore itself, art can be continuously created, history can be eternally interpreted, and civilization will exist brilliantly in the accessible time and space.

Suppose one day, the game Universe has no players visiting it, and no one is maintaining it, but the NPC civilization in it continues to live very wonderfully. They sing and dance in the small virtual environment, grow vegetables and raise sheep, make movies and write novels, and even transform the entire universe by themselves, and create a large number of small worlds and small civilizations. Should this be called an indomitable civilization that still loves life even though it has seen through the truth of the world?

Perhaps creating a virtual world is something that every civilization will do when it reaches a certain stage of development. After any civilization fails to find its creator and communicate with him, it should want to turn itself into the creator to give itself more meaning of existence. Maybe the same is true for the upper world?

Under normal circumstances, we are in this world, bound by the rules of this world, and may never really know the truth. We cannot crawl along the network cable to another terminal to see if there is a living person operating the character in the same game. None of us can jump out of our current world dimension to recognize and understand this world.

Science doesn't care about this. Science never studies these so-called ultimate, essential, unknowable, and meaningless problems. Science only studies the objective laws that we can understand at the moment. Even if we are playing a single-player game, we should treat it as an online game. Even if the objective world does not exist, we still treat it as the objective world. Science only cares about things that are helpful to us, regardless of whether they are illusory or real.

What Zhang Lan cares about most is this. No matter how powerful the skills on the panel are, and what the results of the magic weapons made by Zhang Lan are, there is one thing that Zhang Lan has not thought of a way to improve, and that is the development of the brain.

Even though I know that the existence of the game panel does not match the existing world version, sometimes I want to just lie back and enjoy it. Develop various skills on the panel, and don't say anything else, just enjoy it for dozens or hundreds of years, and don't think about anything else until I get tired of playing this game of life.
