Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 100: Infiltration in broad daylight

"That's not what I meant..." Lin Yan stopped the car and corrected him, "What I meant is, if we do this in broad daylight, the guards can easily spot us as long as they are not blind. Should we wait until dark?"

"Uh... I think what you said is very right..." Sean hesitated and replied. Then, he complained to Lin Yan: "Why didn't you tell us earlier? Then we might have been able to have a meal at that old bitch's place. I want to see what they usually eat and why they are so arrogant."

"What are we going to do now? Just wait until night? We might as well go to Rhodes for a walk. I'm the only one in the gang who hasn't been there yet."

Lin Yan had thought about the fact that it was unreliable to set fire during the day, but when he was at Braithwaite Manor, he felt particularly uncomfortable sitting there. Instead of waiting there until night, it would be better to come out early and find a place to hide until night. Although Sean was annoying sometimes, there was a reason why Arthur called him "the happy fruit". With him around, Lin Yan would at least not be too bored in the next few hours.

But Sean suggested going to Lodz for a stroll, which was unexpected by Lin Yan.

"But we are still on a mission, this... isn't a good idea..." Lin Yan politely refused.

"Well, what else are we going to do in the next few hours? Just sit here in this carriage and drink? I can't stand drinking without any atmosphere."

"Well... okay!" After hesitating for a moment, Lin Yan agreed under Sean's expectant eyes.

"You heard it over there just now." Lin Yan started the carriage again and said, "Hosea and I had a fight in the tavern in town this morning. I definitely can't go to the tavern."

"That's a shame," Sean consoled lightly.

"But you're not the point. I'm the point. Not only am I going to the tavern to have a couple of drinks, but I'm also going to play a couple of hands at the card table. Hosea didn't let me play Cribbage just now, and I'm really frustrated."

"And you, my dear brother Jamie, will have to look after this car in the meantime."

Brother? You are not necessarily older than me...

Lin Yan shrugged helplessly after secretly complaining. "Okay, as long as you are happy, as long as you don't cause any trouble, it's okay for you to play until dark."

"Haha, then it's settled." Sean was extremely satisfied with Lin Yan's proposal and nodded happily.

Twenty minutes later, in front of the main entrance of the "Palace of Pleasure".

Sean looked at the "Closed" sign in front of the tavern and said disappointedly, "Hey! Did you guess the result, so you said that to me on purpose?"

Lin Yan shook his head innocently and said, "No, I didn't expect it to close down..."

"Forget it, let's find a place to sleep..." Without entertainment, Sean seemed a little listless.

There was a shaded area at the east entrance of Rhodes Town. Lin Yan parked the car in an open space on the side of the road. He and Sean took a short nap, one leaning against the shaft of the car and the other leaning against a tree. It was not until dusk that they woke up and set off.

On the way, Sean complained to the Gray family for closing the pub. Lin Yan shook his head and sighed that Sean really had a childish temper.

Controlling the speed, the carriage arrived safely at the Caliga Plantation just as it was getting dark.

The Caliga Plantation is divided into two layers, the large fields on the outside are planted with cotton and a small amount of tea trees. The tobacco fields and the Gray family's estate are located in the center of the plantation.

Although the plantation was surrounded by a fence, no one was guarding the entrances and exits, so anyone could easily enter and exit. Lin Yan drove the carriage through the first gate under the dim moonlight, and soon followed the dim lights not far away before arriving at the second gate guarded by someone.

"Hey, what are you doing? Stop right there."

As soon as we approached the inner gate, the guards on duty stopped the carriage.

"Leave the negotiation to me, you don't need to say anything." Sean whispered to Lin Yan.

After the carriage completely stopped, he jumped off, took a bottle of wine from the carriage, trotted to the guard, and stammered: "I, I, I'm here to deliver...deliver something, wine...goods for the tavern."

"Tavern? Why haven't I seen you before?"

When the guard asked this question, Lin Yan felt bad. Sean's excuse was not very good. The guard knew someone who often delivered goods.

"Here, this... this is for you, my friend." Sean handed the wine in his hand over, chuckled a few times, and explained: "We are both new here. Something happened in the tavern this morning, and we were both pulled in to help out temporarily."

"Really?" The guard asked again as if to confirm, but after Sean's explanation, he put down the gun.

"It's absolutely true, my friend." Realizing that the other party believed what he said, Sean relaxed and stopped stuttering.

"Someone, from the pub, told us to bring the stuff out of the car here, and told us not to ask questions but to do it."

He spoke more and more fluently, as if it was really true, and even the guard was amused by his attitude.

"Okay, okay, you're fine." He patted Sean on the back and said with a smile.

Then, he stepped onto the carriage driven by Lin Yan, sat next to Lin Yan and said, "Come on, I'll take you to where you should go."

Sean hurriedly squeezed next to him and said with gratitude: "Oh, thank you so much, my friend."

"Turn right, we'll go around here to the warehouse at the back." The guard instructed Lin Yan who was driving.

Lin Yan nodded slightly and did as he was told without saying a word.

"Haha, this guy is a mute, ignore him. My name is Sean, have a drink to relieve your fatigue, friend, I secretly tasted this wine on the road, it tastes good." Sean diverted the guard's attention from Lin Yan and pointed to the bottle of wine in his hand.

The guard pulled out the cork, took a big gulp of wine, wiped his mouth and said, "Hamish."

"Nice to meet you, Hamish, you guys look pretty nice here."

"Of course. The Gray family is a big family here, and the place they live in is decent enough."

After that, the guard continued to direct: "Turn left in front, then go straight, behind the stable, the place with the brightest light is the warehouse."

He took another sip of his wine and said, "It's really unlucky for the Gray family. Those Lemoyne raiders dared to break into the town in broad daylight and cause a scene in the tavern."

"Yes, I was going to the pub to have a drink, and I heard continuous gunshots coming from the pub. I was scared at the time."

"Oh, then you are really lucky. I heard that many people died in the tavern." The guard drank half a bottle of wine in three gulps and was obviously drunk.

"If you ask me, this kind of despicable thing must have been done by another family here. Only scum like them would collude with the crazy Lemoyne Raiders. Bah! Such despicable means! Disgusting!"

"Haha, drink some wine to calm down, don't let your body get hurt by anger."

The guard gulped down another big gulp of wine, then pointed to a nearby building and said, "Yes, yes, this is it. We are here."
