Wilderness Redemption Tour
Chapter 104 Spreading dog food
It was already ten, almost eleven o'clock at night when we got back to the camp.
Among the three, except Hosea who enjoyed a not-so-rich dinner at Braithwaite Manor, Lin Yan and Sean were still hungry.
The person patrolling the perimeter of the camp tonight was Lenny, who had hardly been seen all day. Seeing Hosea and the others return safely, Lenny turned around and blew a slow and long whistle in the direction of the camp, and then asked curiously: "Did something happen? Why did you come back so late?"
"It's nothing, I just took a job that requires me to act at night." Hosea replied softly.
"Is there any dinner left? I'm starving." Sean asked weakly, holding his stomach.
"Uh..." Lenny was stunned for a moment, but still answered truthfully: "There is plenty of food... Pearson put too much salt in the cooking today, so everyone didn't eat much in the evening..."
"What? It's salty again? Damn it! This fat pig!" Sean returned to the camp cursing after hearing the "bad news", tied up the horse cursing, walked to the campfire cursing, served some leftovers from the night before and tasted it.
"Bah! Bah, bah, bah!"
After taking a sip of the soup, Sean directly poured the soup and vegetables in the bowl onto the ground and cursed: "This is not food for human beings, it's bitter and astringent. Pearson, you made the meal with sea water!"
After cursing, Sean took out two bottles of beer from a box beside him, and took out half a piece of bacon from the dining car. He sat down at the square table in the middle of the camp and started eating.
Seeing Sean's reaction, Lin Yan also gave up the idea of eating from the big pot. He sat opposite Sean, took out a few cans of food and a pack of soda crackers from his bag, and started eating with Sean.
After Hosea came back, he found Dutch who had not yet gone to bed. The two stood there and talked for less than a minute before going back to rest.
"John and I came back at dinner time. Why did you come back so late? Did the Braithwaite family give you a hard time?" Arthur asked as he sat in the empty seat to Lin Yan's right.
"Why do you smell so much of smoke? Did you go to burn the tobacco fields?" Karen also came over and sat in the remaining empty seat.
Sadie, whose right hand was still in a splint, also came over and stood not far behind Sean, watching Lin Yan who was eating biscuits slowly.
Lin Yan looked up at Sean who was struggling with the can he had taken out, and seeing that he had no intention of showing any intention, he began to tell him again what had happened in the afternoon and evening.
Halfway through the story, Sean, who had just filled his stomach, also became interested. He took over Lin Yan's conversation and completed what happened next with his flamboyant expression and exaggerated description.
"Oh? It seems that you two have completed a major operation this time." Arthur's tone made Lin Yan unsure whether he was praising or mocking Sean.
"The Braithwaites are indeed a great family that has ruled Rhodes for two centuries. Their moves are much more ruthless than those of the Grays. Compared to you, the work we did for the Grays this afternoon was nothing but a small matter."
"By the way, it was you and your men who stole the stallion from the stable at Braithwaite Manor, right?" When Lin Yan heard Arthur mention his actions in the afternoon, he remembered what Catherine Braithwaite had said about the theft of the stallion from the stable.
"Yes." Arthur nodded and admitted. "And I found that there were not many guards in Braithwaite Manor. If it weren't for the horseman's desperate resistance, no one would have died in this mission."
Sean asked curiously, "I heard the old woman say that she spent a lot of money to buy those stallions. What did you do with them? Did you sell them?"
Arthur's face drooped when he mentioned the disposal of those stallions. He took a deep breath and said in a dull voice: "Sold...700..."
"Pfft!" Upon hearing the price, Sean spit out a mouthful of beer. Lin Yan couldn't help laughing, but not as exaggerated as Sean's.
"Hehehe...hehe...you only sold the horse that was worth thousands for 700...hehehe..." Sean laughed until he was out of breath.
Arthur was confused by the reactions of the two people around him after hearing the price. Shouldn't he be angry when he heard that valuable things were sold at a low price? Why were these two people laughing?
He looked at Lin Yan who was trying hard to hold back his laughter, and then at Sean who started to cough from laughing, wondering if these two had eaten something wrong.
Sadie, who was not far behind them, was also confused and had no idea what these two people were doing.
Stopping his cough, Sean wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "Knowing that you didn't make much money this time, I feel much more balanced."
"Do you know how much money we got in the end? The old woman, the bitch, the miser from the Braithwaite family only paid us 300. Not 300 per person, but 300 for three people! I even wonder if she became the owner of the manor by withholding the wages of her servants."
Hearing Sean's "indignant" speech, Arthur couldn't help but laugh. It seemed that these two guys were trying to find a balance with him.
"300 is indeed a little less, but it's better than nothing." He comforted the two of them, "Doesn't Dutch have a follow-up plan? We are responsible for fanning the flames. When the two families fight and both suffer losses, we can take advantage of the opportunity to rob some of their wealth."
Sean stretched, stood up and said, "I don't know how much money I can get, but one thing I can be sure of is that these locals are really not very smart."
He walked up to Karen, grabbed her hand without hesitation and said, "I'm going to take a shower now, do you want to join me?"
Karen proudly shook off Sean's hand and said, "Go to hell! Who wants to take a bath with you?" Although she said no, she still followed Sean to the river with a smile on her face.
Although Lin Yan knew that they had that kind of relationship, he was still caught off guard by seeing them showing off their love in public.
Damn, Sean, this idiot, I just wanted to eat a meal, but I didn't expect to be fed a mouthful of dog food...
Arthur felt a little embarrassed when he saw the affectionate scene between the young people. He scratched his cheek with his fingers, pretended to be calm and said, "Take your time to eat, I'm going to sleep first..."
It was not until Arthur left that Sadie walked over and sat down beside Lin Yan.
After more than ten days of getting along, the two of them had become quite familiar with each other. Seeing Sadie coming over, Lin Yan raised his hand, pointed at her right hand and asked, "Are you feeling better?"
Sadie moved her arm and said, "I think it's almost time to take it off. The pastor asked me to wear it for two more days, saying it was just to be on the safe side."
Lin Yan drank a sip of canned soup and said, "Then wear it for a few more days. The most important thing is to heal the injury."
After asking about Sadie's injuries, Lin Yan pointed to a separate fire on the other side of the open space. Micah, who was sitting by the fire admiring the dagger, asked, "What's wrong with that guy? Why does he look so creepy in the middle of the night?"
