Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 15 Teammates in Trouble

While Lin Yan was eating, Sadie sat quietly beside him, motionless. It seemed that except for revenge, everything else in the world had nothing to do with her.

Lin Yan felt that he had almost recovered after finishing his meal. He decided to go out for a walk to see how the detectives in town reacted to the robbery that happened in the clinic that morning and whether the O'Driscoll Gang knew that their base had been robbed.

Putting on his dark wide-brimmed soft hat again, Lin Yan asked Sadie, who was sitting quietly, "I'm going to go out and see what's going on outside. Do you want to come with me?"

Sadie stood up and said, "Okay, let's go out for a walk. Take your new gun with you, and I'll give you some bullets first." After that, she took out a handful of bullets from her pocket and handed them to Lin Yan.

"Okay, thank you so much." Lin Yan hurriedly took the bullets, then opened the wooden box containing the Schofield revolver. He took out the gun and checked that there was no problem with the gun body. He then skillfully opened the magazine and loaded the bullets. After loading, he rotated the cylinder and then inserted it into the holster on his belt.

After leaving the house and locking the door, Lin Yan and Sadie just walked to the stairs to go downstairs when Lin Yan saw Marybeth running into the pub in a panic. Because of her actions, everyone in the pub was now focused on her, but she didn't care so much at this time and went straight up the stairs to run upstairs.

"Marybeth, what happened? Why are you so flustered?" Lin Yan asked while standing upstairs.

"Ah, Jamie, are you feeling better? What about Arthur, is he in the room?" Marybeth greeted Lin Yan, and then asked about Arthur's whereabouts.

"Arthur said he had to go back to the camp. He left right after you left. I guess he should be back soon."

"Is Arthur not here?" Marybeth's already anxious tone rose even higher.

Lin Yan thought it should be Tilly or Karen. He comforted her, "Don't worry, tell me slowly what happened."

Malibeth took a breath and said hurriedly, "It was Tilly. She seemed to have been recognized by someone on the street just now. That person caught her and said he wanted to take her away."

"What? Where?" Lin Yan asked hurriedly.

"When I came in, I saw that man dragging Tilly towards the alley next to the St. Thomas Hotel."

After hearing this, Lin Yan hurried downstairs and rushed out of the pub, with Sadie and Marybeth following him. After leaving the pub, Lin Yan looked at the alley next to the St. Ts Hotel across the street, but there was no one there. With the mentality of trying his best, Lin Yan ran into the alley and ran to the back of the hotel, hoping to find some trace of Tilly.

In the open space behind the hotel, Lin Yan looked around and saw the light yellow in the distance. He remembered that Tilly was wearing a long skirt of that color today, so he ran over there.

Lin Yan saw from a distance that Tilly seemed to be still struggling with the other party, so the other party was not walking fast with Tilly. Lin Yan ran closer and confirmed that the person in the light yellow dress was Tilly. He pulled out the pistol from his waist, pointed at the man holding Tilly and shouted: "Stop! If you move again, I will shoot!"

Tilly, who had been resisting, turned around hastily after hearing a familiar voice. When she saw that it was Lin Yan, she shouted in surprise, "Jamie!"

Lin Yan smiled at her, then sternly said to the man holding Tilly, "Let go of Tilly!"

The other party turned around and saw Lin Yan pointing a gun at him. He did not panic, but looked at Tilly calmly and asked, "Who is he?"

"He's a friend of mine," Tilly gasped.

"Sir, I'll say it one last time. Let Tilly go." Lin Yan uttered these threatening words word by word.

The other party let go of Tilly's arm and said to Lin Yan in the distance: "Hey, relax, this is a private matter within our gang."

"If you still choose to arrest her, it will be a private matter between you and me."

"Okay, I'll go, but I still need to say a few words to Tilly." Then the man looked at Tilly and said, "You didn't expect me to find you, did you?"

"Whatever you do has nothing to do with me."

"You know, you made a big mistake, Tilly Jackson."

"I don't care, now go away and get you."

"I will find you again. You can't escape."

After saying something harsh, the other party walked out of the town.

Seeing that the other party left without resistance, Lin Yan breathed a sigh of relief. "Tilly, are you okay?" he asked the black girl.

Tilly also breathed a sigh of relief. She stroked her chest and said, "It's okay. It's just that my sleeve was torn. I can go back and sew it. Thank you, Jamie." Then she said to Sadie behind Lin Yan, "Thank you too, Sadie."

Lin Yan smiled and said, "You're welcome. We are all family."

"Okay, since Tilly is fine, Marybeth, you take her back to her room first. By the way, where is Karen? Aren't you together?" Lin Yan asked Marybeth, who arrived here a step later than him.

"Didn't you see Karen?" Marybeth asked in confusion. "We went to the grocery store and clothing store in town together, and then Karen saw a drunk guy and thought she could rob him. You know, drunk people rarely resist, so we always target them. Although we don't get much money, it's not risky. I think Karen went to the hotel with the drunk guy. It's been a long time, and he hasn't returned yet?"

Lin Yan shook his head and said seriously: "Karen should be in trouble too. Let's go to the hotel to look for her first."

In this way, the four of them, led by Lin Yan, returned to the main street of the town.

"Look, isn't that Arthur? Arthur!" Tilly, who was walking behind, saw someone in the distance and exclaimed in surprise.

There was some noise on the street, and Arthur seemed not to hear Tilly's shout. Then Marybeth joined in, and together with Tilly, she shouted to the people on the street: "Arthur! Arthur!"

Lin Yan felt that this matter had better not be delayed any longer, so he hurriedly said to the other three people: "You wait here for Arthur, I'll go upstairs and look for him first." After that, he quickly walked into the hotel next door.

Sadie watched Lin Yan leave and was worried that he might be in danger, so she said "I'll go too" and followed Lin Yan in.

Arthur was walking on the street and vaguely heard someone calling him. He followed the sound and saw Tilly in a light yellow dress and Marybeth in a purple dress waving at him not far away on the street. He also waved to indicate that he heard it, and then walked quickly over there.

When he got closer, before he could say anything, Marybeth repeated the news that Karen might be in trouble. Finally, she said, "Jamie and Sadie just went in because they were afraid Karen might be in danger." Arthur immediately said, "You guys go wait for us across the street, I'll go check it out too."

After Lin Yan entered the hotel, the hotel owner greeted him warmly: "I can help you..."

Before he could finish, Lin Yan spoke first: "Just now, a girl brought a drunk man in. The girl had blonde hair and wore a white lace top. If she had been here before, you should have remembered her."

"Oh, yes, they were. Upstairs in room 203. Are you a friend of... uh, the gentleman or the lady?"

After hearing the hotel owner say the room number, Lin Yan quickly walked up the stairs without paying attention to what the other party said next. Sadie followed closely behind him.

Seeing Lin Yan's anxious look, the hotel owner hurriedly said loudly: "Sir, please don't cause trouble."

Arriving on the second floor, Lin Yan followed the house number to find room 203. Before he even reached the door, he heard the sound of something breaking inside the room, followed by a woman's shout: "Let me go!"

Then a male voice said, "I'll do the job if I pay!"

Lin Yan hurried forward and turned the door handle, but it didn't move. The door was locked from the inside.

Lin Yan took a few steps back and pushed the door open. Then he saw Karen lying on the ground and the almost naked man.

"Hey! Who are you! What do you want to do by breaking in?" The man shouted loudly at Lin Yan who suddenly broke in.

"Jamie, step back and leave it to me." Arthur also arrived at this time. He patted Lin Yan's shoulder from behind, then walked to the front.

"We are her friends." Arthur pointed at Karen who was lying on the ground.

"Friends? So what if they are friends? All of you get out of here. I paid for it." The man shouted at them righteously.

"Give me money? I don't want you to fight me for money, you damn beast!" Arthur said angrily as he looked at Karen's bruised face. Then he started fighting with the man in close combat.

The man seemed to have found an outlet for his anger. "I paid you but you didn't enjoy it. You're going to pay for this!" He shouted, punching Arthur in the face with both fists.

Arthur ducked and dodged the blow, and hit the man in the abdomen with an uppercut with his right hand. The man fell to the ground in pain, holding his stomach. Karen saw the man fall to the ground, walked over and kicked him in the head. The man held his stomach with one hand and his bleeding face with the other hand, and wailed.

Arthur kicked the man who made the noise unconscious, looked at Karen's bloody mouth, and asked with concern: "What are you doing here? Are you okay?"

Karen straightened her clothes, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and said, "Well... it's okay, don't worry, he's just... a man. I saw him drunk on the street and planned to have some fun with him, but it didn't go so smoothly." Then she looked at Lin Yan and Sadie at the door and said, "I'm so glad to have you see me like this. Although I don't like being rescued, sometimes I have no choice. Thank you, and thank you Arthur. Wait for me a moment, and we'll leave after I get the compensation from this bastard." After that, she squatted down and felt through the man's pockets, and then walked out of the room with satisfaction.

The four of them returned to the street. Arthur led a few people to meet Marybeth and Tilly across the street, and then said, "Ladies, I think it's time for you to go back. When I returned to the camp just now, Ms. Grimshaw was always thinking about you. She even complained to me why I didn't tie you back."

"Oh, I have to go back and face Ms. Grimshaw's face again," Marybeth lamented.

"Marybeth, Ms. Grimshaw is quite nice to you. Have you ever heard her not scold me?" Tilly said with a bitter face when she heard that she had to go back.

"That's true. Ms. Grimshaw seems to particularly dislike you." Marybeth whispered.

"Okay, let's talk in the car. I'll go to the butcher shop to buy some meat first. Jamie, if you have nothing to do, go to the grocery store next door and buy some fresh vegetables. Ladies, go upstairs and get your guns, and then come down to help Jamie get the vegetables. We'll meet at the place where we parked this morning." After saying that, Arthur took out two $10 bills and handed them to Lin Yan: "Jamie, use this money to buy things first. We and the camp will each take half of today's harvest, and we'll divide it when we get back."

"Okay, any vegetables will do?" Lin Yan handed the keys to Marybeth, then asked Arthur.

"Whatever you like, just not too little." Arthur said, and walked towards the butcher's shop on the street.

"Mrs. Adler, I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you for help this time." Lin Yan turned his head and said to Sadie beside him.

"It should be." Sadie replied simply.

After entering the grocery store, Lin Yan was not very familiar with unit conversion, so he first confirmed with the boss what vegetables were available, and then confirmed the approximate weight of one pound under the boss's strange eyes, and then began to buy a lot of tomatoes, carrots, corn, onions, potatoes, various beans, oats, and even two large pieces of cheddar cheese. Since he thought the stew he had just eaten tasted good, he also bought some apples.

Sadie stood beside Lin Yan and looked at all the things Lin Yan bought, and the corners of her mouth twitched involuntarily.

"Okay, that's it. How much is it in total?" Lin Yan asked generously.

The grocery store owner walked to the counter, picked up a pen and counted twice before looking up and saying to Lin Yan, "The total is 18 dollars and 10 cents."

"Really? I bought so many things from you, but you didn't even give me a discount." Lin Yan muttered softly, then handed the $20 given by Arthur to the boss.

At this time, the doorbell rang again. Lin Yan turned around and saw that it was Marybeth and the other two who went upstairs to get the gun. Lin Yan took the change from the boss, pointed to the packed food piled on the ground and said, "Come on, let's move it together."

"There are so many things, why not let Arthur drive over?" Sadie's soul asked, and Lin Yan suddenly realized.

Yes! If Arthur drives the car over, we won't have to move it over. It's not that it's not on the way, it's just a detour! Lin Yan patted his head and thought to himself that he usually thinks he is quite smart, but why is he so stupid here? Could it be that this guy named Jamie has a low IQ?

Giving the girls an awkward smile, Lin Yan quickly said, "I'll ask Arthur to drive the car over here. You guys wait for us here."
