Chapter 30 Rescue Micah

"You must be a math genius. You figured it out in one go." Lenny stared at Lin Yan in disbelief with his eyes wide open.

"I didn't expect that there is such an outstanding mathematician around me." Sadie also looked at Lin Yan and teased.

Oh no, I forgot that foreigners don't seem to be good at fast calculation. Lin Yan saw everyone's reaction and thought of this question. He couldn't help but curse in his heart, then laughed and said perfunctorily: "Guess, this is actually my guess, don't mind it, I just want to show off."

Arthur, who had been counting the money silently, also put down the thick stack of bills in his hand, and announced with a smile: "It is indeed $640. Jamie, you guessed it right."

Arthur's words were undoubtedly a precise finishing blow. Lin Yan looked at him with a bitter face, then said, "Okay, I won't pretend anymore. I'm naturally good at math. You can say whatever you want. But I'll add one last thing. I don't want to stay in the camp to manage the accounts in the future."

Hearing Lin Yan's final words, everyone laughed. Finally, Arthur spoke up: "It's your freedom to go wherever you want and do whatever you want. We are just surprised that you have talent in this area. We have no other intentions."

Lin Yan breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but complain to everyone: "I'm relieved now. Seeing the way you looked at me just now, I thought you took me for an alien."

"Hahaha..." The hotel lobby was suddenly filled with cheerful laughter.

After finishing the meal, everyone chose to take a shower. Lin Yan didn't know about others, but he hadn't taken a shower in the past few days since he traveled to the game. In addition, he was caught in the rain today and felt very uncomfortable. He thought that others should feel the same way.

When they learned that pajamas were provided in the room, everyone changed into the hotel's pajamas and paid a small amount of money to have the hotel owner wash all their clothes. Of course, drying was completely free of charge.

Since there was only one bathroom in the hotel, and in accordance with the principle of ladies first, Sadie was the first to enter the bathroom. Arthur also ordered the remaining three men to line up in order - Lin Yan was second, Lenny was third, and Arthur was the last.

It was already afternoon when the four arrived at Strawberry Town. By the time they had eaten, it was already approaching evening. Except for Lin Yan, the other three did not sleep well last night. After taking a shower, the four of them, who had no entertainment activities, chose to have a good sleep.

At midnight, the system in Lin Yan's brain began searching again.

The next morning, Lin Yan was awakened by the urge to urinate. Yesterday, after he discovered that the water here was also particularly delicious, he drank a large glass before going to bed. He hurriedly got out of bed, slipped on his slippers, opened the door and rushed to the bathroom on the second floor of the hotel. After solving his troubles, Lin Yan went downstairs to get his washed and dried clothes. Downstairs, he saw Arthur, who was already dressed, enjoying his breakfast.

"Hey! Jamie! Hurry up and get dressed and come down to have breakfast. After that we'll go to the police station to see what the sheriff says."

"No problem, I'll come down after I change my clothes." Lin Yan took the clothes from the hotel owner, went back to the room to change, and then walked down the stairs again.

Their breakfast today was fried oatmeal pancakes with fried eggs and a glass of juice. Lin Yan took a sip and found it was mixed juice. Without a doubt, the two meals he had in Strawberry Town were the most satisfying and appetizing things he had eaten since he traveled through time.

When he was about to finish eating, Lenny and Sadie came down in pajamas. After Arthur told them that he and Lin Yan were going to the police station, he took Lin Yan, who had just finished breakfast, to the police station not far away.

Sheriff Hanley was resting his legs on the desk, leisurely reading a newspaper and sipping coffee. When he saw Arthur push the door open, he put down the newspaper and coffee in his hands and said in a relaxed tone, "You're here really early. I asked the victims and their families yesterday. Congratulations, it's good news. These people agree to reconcile with you, but the premise is that you have to pay $450 in compensation, $150 for each of the two dead and $50 for each of the three injured. If you can pay that much money, I will pardon your partner's crime."

When Arthur heard the price, his frown slowly relaxed. "What a reasonable price! What surprised me most is that you brave and fearless public officials do not charge a penny. I have to say that I admire this spirit."

After Arthur boasted to the sheriff in front of him, he took out the $620 that everyone had collected yesterday from his pocket, and then counted out $450 and put it on Sheriff Hanley's desk. "Here is $450, do you want to count it?"

Sheriff Hanley looked at the remaining banknotes in Arthur's hand and suddenly felt that he was running out of money. He calmly put the money into the top layer of his desk drawer and said, "No need. I don't think you will play tricks in front of me. Come with me and take your companion away."

After saying that, Sheriff Hanley stood up and walked towards the staircase that led down inside the police station. Arthur and Lin Yan followed him, and when they reached the bottom, two iron cages appeared in front of them. In one of the cages, Micah was lying on a recliner bored, and in the other cage, a man in green clothes was imprisoned.

The two people in the cage heard the noise and looked towards the passage at the same time. When Micah saw that it was Arthur following the sheriff, he quickly stood up, walked to the cage in two steps, grabbed the bars of the cage and shouted excitedly: "Arthur! Are you here to save me, Arthur! Ahem! I knew you wouldn't give up on me."

"Ah, Micah. It looks like you've had a great time staying here these two nights, haven't you?" Arthur said sarcastically to Micah with a smile.

The expression on Micah's face changed from joy to suspicion. "What do you mean, aren't you here to take me away from here?"

Arthur leaned his right hand against the wall, looked directly into Micah's green eyes and said, "In the past six months, I have heard too many crazy and cruel words from your mouth. Looking at what you have done, I really want to watch you shut your mouth forever."

Micah's face showed a panic and despair. He stretched out his hand to Arthur and tried to pull his clothes. "Arthur, you can't do this. I, I have always respected you. You have to take me away from here."

Arthur felt that he had frightened Micah enough, so he smiled and said, "Relax, man. Although I want you to stay here, someone insists that I take you back. I think you know who that person is." Then Arthur looked at Sheriff Hanley and said respectfully, "Sheriff Hanley, please help him open the lock."

Sheriff Hanley, who was standing by, then took out the key to the cage, unlocked it and let Micah out.

"Take this lunatic away immediately. I don't want to see him in my territory again." Sheriff Hanley expressed his disgust for Micah mercilessly.

"I really don't want to come back to a town without alcohol." Micah shrugged off Sheriff Hanley's warning.

Arthur kicked Micah mercilessly and scolded: "Shut your stinky mouth! Do you still want to stay here? To be honest, I would love to see you hanged here." Only then did Micah shut his mouth obediently and stopped talking.

The three of them walked out of the police station. Micah turned around and spat in the direction of the police station, saying, "You government lackeys better not give me an opportunity."

Arthur saw what Micah did, pointed at him and warned, "Micah Bell, in order to rescue you, we not only spent $450 to bribe the sheriff, but also delayed our work for two days. I warn you, if you cause trouble for the gang again, I will risk offending Dutch and teach you a lesson, do you understand?"

Seeing that Arthur was really angry, he, who had suffered at the hands of Arthur, immediately promised Arthur that he would not cause trouble for the gang again. As soon as he finished speaking, Micah immediately asked Arthur: "Arthur, my brother, although that is what I said, I want to ask you for something now. This matter is very important to me, you must help me."

Arthur heard the pleading in Micah's words, and his expression softened. "What is it?" he asked Micah.

"These are my guns. You have to help me get them back. They were taken away by a friend of mine, a drinking buddy I used to know. He lives in this town. I can show you the way."

Arthur pointed behind Micah and said, "We'd better not cause any trouble in this town. You see, the sheriff is personally supervising you."

Micah looked back, a fierce look flashed in his eyes, and he continued to plead: "But those two guns are really important to me, and my horse may also be in their hands. I promise you, as long as you can help me get my guns, I will never cause trouble for the gang again."

"Damn it! I really wish Dutch had never met you! Tell me where that man lives and I'll get him back for you. And you just wait for me in the hotel obediently and don't even think about causing any more trouble. Once I get the gun, we'll leave here immediately!"

Arthur vented his dissatisfaction to Micah again, but finally agreed to his request.

After asking Micah to go back to the hotel and wait, Arthur and Lin Yan followed the address Micah gave them and crossed Hawkeye Creek, arriving at a wooden house on the edge of town. After leaving Micah, Arthur regained his usual calmness. "Sorry, Jamie, I made a fool of myself. It's just that I get angry when I see this self-righteous guy now."

Lin Yan smiled and consoled him, "It's good to scare Micah now. Someone needs to take care of an unstable gang member like Micah, so that he has someone to fear."

Arthur saw Micah's fox-trotting horse in front of the cabin and knew he had come to the right place. He walked up to the door, knocked on it, and shouted, "Skinny Monkey? Is Skinny Monkey there? I'm looking for Skinny Monkey!"

Arthur knocked several times before footsteps were heard from the inside. A man in a striped shirt opened the door and shouted, "My name is not Skinny! My name is Norman!" Then he blinked his little eyes, looked at the stranger outside the door, and asked stiffly, "Who are you?"

Lin Yan looked at this middle-aged man with a big belly and couldn't associate him with the "skinny monkey" that Micah mentioned.

"Micah asked me to come to you to get his gun and his horse back."

"Huh! Micah! What? Is this his wish before he is hanged? Please go back to the police station and tell him, no way!" After saying that, the man went back into the house and was about to close the door.

Arthur saw the opportunity and put his foot into the door, preventing the other party from closing it.

"What do you want to do? Are you breaking into someone's house?" Seeing that Arthur refused to leave, the man turned back and shouted into the house, "Marty! Give me my gun!"

"Mr. Norman, I don't think you know yet, but Micah has been released from prison. He originally wanted to come here in person to get his things back, but I was afraid that he would cause trouble again, and also for your safety, I didn't let him come. I think you also know how important these things are to him. If, don't get me wrong, I mean if. If you still want to live here safely, and still want to... stay alive, then return Micah's things to him, otherwise I can't guarantee what this mad dog Micah will do to you when he comes here in person." Arthur said these threatening words in a calm tone.

When the other party heard that Micah was out of prison, his body trembled. After listening to all of Arthur's words, he said to the house in a trembling voice: "Ma...Mattie, give Micah's two guns to this gentleman."

"Micah? Aren't you waiting to see him hanged by the sheriff? When he dies, you said you would sell his stuff for a good price." The woman in the house seemed not to hear what Arthur said, and kept complaining while taking the gun.

When the man heard his wife say this, he quickly stopped her. "Shut your damn mouth! We are just keeping Micah's things for him. We never, ever said we would sell them. Now that Micah is out, we have to return his things to him."

The people in the house heard Micah coming out and obviously quickened their movements. Taking the two revolvers handed over by the woman, the man handed them to Arthur in a flattering manner. "Here are Micah's guns. His horse is at the door. You can take it away now."

Arthur took the pistol with his left hand, and then pressed the brim of his hat with his right hand as a greeting. "Thank you for your cooperation." After that, he turned to Lin Yan and said, "Jamie, take Micah's horse, let's go."

When Lin Yan returned to the hotel, he saw Micah pacing anxiously in the hotel lobby. Hearing the noise at the door and seeing that it was Arthur, he happily ran to Arthur. Looking at the two pistols in Arthur's hand that he had been dreaming of, he said incoherently: "That's them, yes, these are my guns. Arthur, thank you, thank you my brother."

Arthur handed the gun back to the excited Micah. "Your horse is also with him. I helped you get it back. Now let's go back to the camp."

Micah put his double guns into the holsters and followed Arthur as he said, "Oh no no no, Arthur, I have an idea to repay you, repay Dutch, maybe you will be interested in it."

Arthur gave Micah a look of disdain. "Like the plan to rob the ship in Blackwater? Or the plan to have you go out to get information but end up in jail?"

"Come on, let's get out of here and talk while we're walking. I know a tough guy like you won't reject my plan."

"That depends on how reliable your so-called plan is." Arthur said as he mounted his horse and led everyone towards the exit of Strawberry Town.
